Thanks for this video Eddy. I think this is spot on. I don't struggle to make friends but I do struggle to know the difference between real and fair-weather friends and feel like I only realise the distinction when I'm having a hard time and need friends to rely on. My life's been a bit up in the air for a while and everything you said about other reasons (e.g. financial issues and mental health) are applicable, so I've experienced this in spades of late. The trick for me is dealing with this in a healthy way which I'll be the first to admit I haven't always done. Most of the people I consider would accept me whatever stupid shit I might say or do live a long way away now but I'm always comforted to know who has my back. I think that's the priority, not who you might go for a drink with to waste time in the evening out of convenience but who makes the effort and will still be there when all is said and done. That's all you need.
i just keep making new and younger friends cause at a certain age people just dont have time for anything anymore (their career, spouse, kids take 100% of their time it seems like)
