    Blimey. I thought my 28mm Napoleonic collection was starting to get out of hand ... now I see room for growth. A mighty collection and of course, THAT's ONLY YOUR FRENCH. I salute you.

      Thanks, always keen to provide a reason for another couple of units to a fellow fan 😉😉😉 😀😀the french army is by far the largest….45 battalions of inf and 12 of cav, the Brits and allies at Waterloo is c 35 and 10…. Umm perhaps those have got away from me too 😀😀 Thanks for watching, cheers JP

    Absolutely awesome collection! This puts Trooping the Colour in the shade. The commentary’s better too. 😁 The attention to detail is superb, particularly all the vignettes. And I still prefer the Carabiniers in blue.

      Thanks very much Sam, and I agree on the carabiners, don’t think they’ll be redone anytime soon 😀😀

      @@JP-ml4zh by the way, where are the Dragoons? My knowledge of Napoleonic orders of battle is sketchy but I thought they were a fairly common sight. I’m surprised not to have seen them on the review.

    • @JP-ml4zh
      @JP-ml4zh  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Perhaps I didn’t call them out clearly enough in the video but fear not there are two large regiments in the heavy cavalry section, one with red and one scarlet facings of 21 and 24 figures I think….they were behind the Cuirassier and carabinier regiments 👍👍

    Jolin vaya pedazo de ejército frances que tienes tío muy bien pintado y decorado.muy buenos el 1° regimiento de lanceros polacos de la guardia imperial con sus guerreras azules y el 3° regimiento de lanceros holandeses de la guardia imperial con sus guerreras rojas.muy Buenos ambos regimientos fieros y veteranos de mil batallas campañas y victorias.viendo esto se entiende porque el ejército Francés de Napoleon arrasó Europa durante más de 20 años de guerras revolucionarias cuando era el joven general bonaparte y después napoleónicas ya coronado emperador desde 1804.eran el mejor ejército del mundo.solo los británicos les hacían sombra. Siempre los británicos........ y un tal wellington...... siempre wellington......... veo mucha infantería caballería hay pero menos y también tienes menos artillería.no olvides que Napoleon era un general de artillería y mejoró mucho con el.siempre decía es con cañones con lo que se hace la guerra. No has dejado sitio en el tablero para los ejércitos enemigos. Cuáles prefieres? Españoles portugueses ingleses austriacos rusos prusianos suecos.... por citar solamente los más grandes y conocidos...... la lista seguiría un rato todavía.......

    Amazing collection. So do you have small at 4 bases, 5 medium and 6 large for GDA?

    • @JP-ml4zh
      @JP-ml4zh  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi
      The rules use actual unit sizes and you then use this depending on the figure ratio for your collection…..from memory a small unit is 475 men or less, so using a 1:20 figure ratio as I do means that 4 bases (24 figures for me) at 1:20 gives 480 men…..ie in theory a regular unit per the rules. I however like my french battalions in column to look like one not a triangle 😧😧 so I house rule a 4 base unit as small and 6 bases as regular sized. Hope that helps cheers JP

      @BearGrisham ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JP-ml4zh Thanks JP that does help a lot. Do you ever do large bases and if so do you then go up to 8 bases?
      I completely agree with the 6 bases for standard as 5 bases looks really untidy 😂 it doesn’t have the right look!! Do you do the same standard 6 bases for all nations and including the cavalry?

    I see your line battalions consist of 6 bases, 2 of flankers, 1 of command and 3 others, how do you paint the pompoms for these do you paint the command as a company?

    • @JP-ml4zh
      @JP-ml4zh  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Spot on for my french, almost all are 6 bases strong (a few small battalions mainly guard are only 4), as I can then as you have spotted make each base a complete company. From memory company pom-poms are red and yellow/ green (sometimes yellow/ red) for the grenadiers and voltageurs depending on my references for the units, then the regular companies are green, purple, orange, and then the final company made up with the command figures (flag bearer, 2 escorts, office, drummer and sundry figure, in appropriate pom-poms for each figure (mainly reds) as per any references I have, I tend to use lescentjours website which has a view of all Waterloo unit uniforms. The painting is just a steady hand and on all aspects of the figures a grey undercoat, then a three stage, shade and two highlights…..thanks for watching JP
