I LOVE your rock garden - and what a lovely, lovely way to grow bromeliads, desert rose plants and all your other colourful flora! I'll be watching more of your projects; living in FL has exposed me to so many more things than I have ever been able to grow other places I have lived! Thanks for a fantastic channel!!
Wow!!! THANK YOU! I bought w bromeliad a few months ago and it is suffering. I am not a new plant mom- however I have never ever even owned one before. It is growing a pup. And it is looking rough. I - in my infinite wisdom- potted it in cactus mix. ... luckily it was only in that medium for about an hour before finding your video. Repotted it again- this time in orchid bark. 💜🌿 thank you again!
Keep in mid that if the mother plant is giving you pups, the mother plant will continue to slowly decline. Think of it as the mother plant replacing itself before it dies. In fact, it may give you several pups. Enjoy the process!
Watched several videos, professional green house gardens. I learned nothing. In just half of your video i learned so much. Thank you. I live in Florida so its perfect.
@@PeggysPlants no way you explained the care and what to expect from this Species of plant. From water to sunlight, and care. Both of my children are helping me in the garden. So now i can explain it to them. Always teaching and learning.
Loved this video and loved your garden. Thank you for the tips! I'm also in South FL and my bromeliads are thriving. My husband planted them and cared for them. Since his death, I've had to step up to the plate and am learning all I can. Thank you for your help.
Bromes love So Flo weather. Mine have struggled since moving to Central Florida but some are thriving. I love that they are so hardy and pretty much take care of themselves, once established. What a beautiful memory to have of your husband. Enjoy!
Best plant video ever! Very practical directions on what to do! You are awesome thank you! I also follow Refugio green, just nice and relaxing, beatiful landscaper, but no information on plants like you! Can't wait to try bromeliads!
I don’t care if you are all dolled up…I live in south west Florida and know if you step outside you break a sweat!! I have looked at o many videos and most about bromeliads just show pictures without any information! Thanks so much!

Thanks for your sharing. I'm from Malaysia. Hot and high humidity often with afternoon rain. Some months with monsoon month. I normally tie them to my palm trees without soil, and they grow very well. They're easy to have and then growing orchids.
Thanks for sharing. I have some mounted on trees in my front yard and so far they are doing well. I always like hearing about growing methods/conditions in different countries. Happy growing!
Just purchased two landscaping varieties and wanted to pot them inside because I live in Michigan and didn’t want them to die…your video is very helpful and I appreciate you sharing your knowledge. ❤️
Thank you so much for all of this great info! I'm is SoCal and just purchased a bunch of these guys for a shadier more protected area of my yard. I am mainly a succulent and cacti enthusiast but know that bromeliads are a great companion to those plants and work well in shadier areas that succulents and cacti may not. I just want to give them the best chance possible and that's when I ran across your video. Thanks again!
I use to have a video posted showing the brome but it didn't get many views. If I am able to find a pic, I will post it on my community board. Thanks for watching.
I enjoyed your video on bromeliad care. I have a very rare Imperial Bromeliad that is blooming after 20 years of growth. It's huge and about 10 foot tall. I'm so excited to witness this rare event. Thank you for the great info.
That is so exciting and very rewarding after 20 years of care. Hopefully it leaves you with some replacement pups. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your Imperial bloom!

Sounds like you are doing many things right. My daughter bought me my first bromeliad over 5 years ago. I still have several descendants and have given many to friends and neighbors. They are like the plants that never stop giving. I love it! Thanks for watching.
Thank you, Peggy. I was actually looking for the right pot mix for Alcantarea Imperialis. And luckily you mentioned in your video that they are terrestrial. And that provides a good guide line for the pot mix.

Thanks Peggy! I’ve always been afraid to try bromeliads because I really didn’t know how to care for them. You make it sound so simple. Your garden is so beautiful 😍
You are so welcome. I think most people are of the impression that they are difficult plants. They have been very easy for me to care for, which is one of the reasons I enjoy them so much. Thanks for watching.
Peggy, your gardens are beautiful! You are very informative about the Broms. They have proven to be elusive for me to successfully grow. I will try to incorporate your information into teying to grow another.
Thank you for the kind words. I think the problem most people have with bromeliads is giving them too much attention. Once you get the hang of it, you'll be amazed at how easy they are to grow. Best of luck with your bromeliads. You can do it!
Thanks for the info, I recently bought a bromeliad and have had it under my grow light for a few weeks and couldn't figure out why it wasn't thriving. I always thought that excess water would cause mold, but not with the Bromeliads.
Your garden is absolutely magnificent. Friends are moving, and they gave me a couple of older bromeliads. Since I’m in a fairly dry climate (the SF Bay Area) I’m trying to figure out how to give them the best possible care. My friends had them outside, which is how I’ll start out. Wish me luck!
Wonderful content and so very helpful! I bought my first bromeliad on clearance last week. I wish I could send you a picture. The center is dying, turned to look like brown paper. It does have a few pups. But anyway, loved the video, loved that you didn't have a bunch of fluff taking up time but you got right to what you wanted us to learn. So good, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed the video. The mother plant normally dies off eventually after giving pups. You should be just fine with the pups once the mother plant is gone. Enjoy your brome!
I’m a beginner Bromeliad enthusiast, and LOVED your video. I’m going to look and see if you have a video on how to save stressed bromeliads. I’m not sure if it was the hurricane or extreme heat of this summer, but when I got back to FL this month, my bromeliads look like they are dying. Maybe they are just overgrown in the pots they are in.
Thank you for this video! I was gifted a rather large bromeliad after my mom's funeral. It had a huge pink bloom in the center - like layers of triangles- and the dark green leaves are kind of fuzzy. I thought it needed soil and a heavy pot to prevent it from tipping over. I'll do more research to see if this bad boy can simply go outside and attach to something.
I just found you and live in the Keys as well. I have some pink pineapple broms and they grow like crazy, but ouch when I try to separate them. I also broms in my fan palms and they love it. Your garden is beautiful. So happy!

I am near Hilton Head, SC and hope to be able to plant these outside although it gets pretty cold for a few days in the winter. They are a beautiful tropical plant!

Hi Peggy. I love your bromeliads. I want to buy some from you. I was overjoyed to be given some from residents on the road to Key West. I had to find great homes for them before relocating from New Orleans to NYC. Tears overflowed when I had to let them go. Back in the south so I'm ready to start over.
Nice to hear you will be able to have your bromeliads again. However, I'm not a plant seller. I'm sure you will be able to find some in your area. Thanks for watching.

I just bought my first Cotton Candy Bromeliad. It’s beautiful. I wish I could grow them outside but I am in zone 8. I am new to your channel! Love your videos.

Nice. Very informative.
Glad you think so. Thanks for watching!
@@PeggysPlants Now I want to try growing some bromeliads from seed... found some seeds in Key Largo... I just have to get some Sphagnum...
Absolutely wonderful video Peggy! Thank you for sharing! :)
Thank you so much for taking time to watch.
TY SO MUCH! Great video!
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching.
I've been doing it all wrong! Thank you for doing this video. Now, to go repot my plant!
Glad I could help!
Your bromeliads are beautiful! I'm in zone 9b, New Port Richey, FL. I have a privacy wall in my backyard, wanting to create a living wall with bromeliads & other tropicals. Still trying to educate myself on these before purchasing. Thank you for the informational video!
I've been wanting to do a living wall too. I love the look. Unfortunately, I don't know what works well in zone 9b although I will have to figure that out when I move. Good luck!
@@PeggysPlants Thank you
Thank you for sharing this video. Bromeliads were unfamiliar to me, but after this video, I had learnt so much about them! Great video 👍🏻

I just bought my first Cotton Candy Bromeliad. It’s beautiful. I wish I could grow them outside but I am in zone 8. I am new to your channel! Love your videos.
