Right!!’ I was so irritated with her yesterday. I don’t see how older people can barely afford their bills, but expect somebody fresh out of college with 80k in student loan debt making 60k to be able to afford normal living + student loans + save for a home/car…. The math isn’t mathing and no it wasn’t that bad 50 years ago or even 20 years ago

What's left of the middle class is waiving goodbye since wages are stagnant while not keeping up with the cost of living, thus making it difficult to get by and that's something the wealthy don't understand.

Yeah I'm sorry, the candidates just aren't very good. Trump's not even there and they are just insulting each other. It's like their take away from 2016 out of fear is to turn things personal like Trump, and again Trump isn't there. They should go back to 2012 or earlier, learn from that. Cause Trump is the king of insult, I may not like him, but he's entertaining. This looks like amateur hour of insults. And the only reason is based around insults is because that's the format these candidates chose to take.
I look forward to Trump as the nominee, hopefully most of these subpar candidates drop out over the holidays.

Joy's not consistent at all. When Hillary was on, she alluded to she thinks Hillary won the 2016 election. But she's outraged when people suggest Trump won in 2020. Of course, it's absurd to think trump won in 2020 and there's more of a case that Hillary won in 2016 because of the popular vote, but the truth is Hillary lost then Trump definitely lost in 2020.

I didn’t watch it because I have neither time nor inclination. I have seen analysis on MSNBC and Joy’s Lawrence O’Donnell quip was something he said. What is Trump afraid of, that he refuses to attend? Could be any number of reasons
Whoopi’s rant about taxes is soooo dumb. Americans barely pay taxes compared to is Europeans. Taxes are necessary. What’s important is that the money is well spent. Taxes should first and foremost go towards improving everyday people’s lives.
Nikki Haley is 51 years old Joy. She is not VERY YOUNG, Guess what, most of us don't want 80 year old presidents.
Respectfully, banning TikTok and raising the retirement age aren’t necessarily bad policies - and I’m saying that as someone exceptionally critical of the GOP.
1) it’s worth discussing the security implications of TikTok and China. If it can be accurately shown it’s not being used nefariously, then we move on.
2) of course the age of retirement will increase! And it’s glib and naive to think otherwise. If more and more tax cuts are being given to the wealthiest thereby denying everyone else decent wages to save and purchase a home and get a higher education, and as the population ages, we’ll need to ensure Social Security is solvent to pay the pittance it will.

Whoopi, I'm sure you pay more than your fair share of taxes, but you must know that our biggest corporations are not paying their fair share and many are getting subsidies! Some billionaires like Warren Buffet say the tax laws are unfair, and the wealthy should pay their fair share. Social Security would be
faring a lot fairer if everyone paid the same percentage into it rather than those who earn in the low 6-figures and above 'getting a free pass on anything above that. We've had at least three huge tax cuts for the wealthiest since Reagan was selected- one in the midst of two 20-year wars that cost us an estimated $3-6 trillion, killed hundreds of thousands of people and solved nothing. Yes, Congress spends money unnecessarily, but we're short changing our children's future by not making sure they have enough to eat, CHILDCARE and adequate funds for education. And we're short changing the future of this country!
Those paying the maximum amounts into Social Security don’t get a “free pass”. In fact, they subsidize those who pay in the least. Look up “bend points” for Social Security. At the lower pay-in amounts, people get a return of about 90 cents on the dollar. At the highest amount it is only 15 cents on the dollar. Also look up minimum Social Security payments. Someone who pays in the minimum amount and only works for 10 years will draw way more than they paid into Social Security.

I'm not even sure what you are talking about. Literally no one is trying to sundown social security. The problem with social security is that democrats "fund" it into the general fund instead of allocating untouchable money to social security. They then frivolously spend the general fund and complain that social security is underfunded. It's been going on so long that social security is broke. If anyone tries to fix it, liberals cry that they are taking away money from people, which honestly they aren't because social security is broke. The reality is, long time bureaucrats have the system figure out, and they know exactly what lies to tell you to keep their system going . . . and the undereducated and dependent believe them. The other sad truth is, if you'd have just invested your SS contributions in bonds, you'd be far better off than any SS benefit you'll receive. For the wealthy, they'll receive nothing for their contributions. It's just bad system run by corrupt leeches, which doesn't even provide equal benefit that people could get on their own.
Nothing is there, so there's nothing to take away.

They aren’t spending on other things like Whoopi claims. She lied. The biggest issues are that they don’t tie what a person paid into Social Security directly to that person, like a typical retirement account does. For example, they pay spousal benefits. A married person with a spouse who never paid into SS gets 50% more than an unmarried person, even if they paid in the exact same amount. Another example are minimum payments for people who paid in very little. Someone who worked minimum wage for 10 years would receive way more than they paid, and that could be for 20+ years. Those are just two examples of how those of us who worked our entire lives, especially those of us who paid in the maximum amounts for many years, are subsidizing those who didn’t.
Nope. If it were your money you would have never given it to the government. Unfortunately, they didn't invest it like they promised you, and now social security is broke. You should have never trusted them in the first place. The minute the government takes any money, it's worth less, and worthless.

Not sure what you are talking about. I get that most people think Roe v. Wade stopped people from regulating abortion laws, but it actually did no such thing. Average time to have an abortion has increased since Roe v Wade was overturned, but about 7 state have no limitation whatsoever on abortion before birth, and all large population centers have longer times for abortion than before. If you like abortions, you should love Roe v Wade being overturned, period. Like just about any other issue, democrats simply don't know what they are talking about, and just repeat whatever narrative they've been fed.

I think she was saying each generation has their challenges and setbacks. So instead of crying about it, do something about it like get organized and mobilize and fight for your rights and future.
