It was a much needed break from FT that’s for sure
They used a bit of green screen but mostly StageCraft! Which is basically a big 20K resolution led wall! They went out and filmed a bunch of plates out at sea at different times of the day and projected those on the led wall, so it looks fantastic and way better than just greenscreen :)

This show is great! I thought I knew a lot about Blackbeard and had read some about Stede Bonnet, so after a few episodes I felt they stretched it a bit making up so much about real historical figures. But to my surprise I found out a lot of what I thought too much actually did happen (or at least was documented as facts back then).
OK, they made some things up and added some spice that may not have happened, but no more than in some other "historical dramas based on real events".
Keep'em coming!

So excited to see another person reacting to this show!! This one is a very special one to a lot of people - myself included, and you are definitely in for a ride! Also!! They actually didn't use a green screen for most of it but actually use a giant screen playing scenes of the sea and sky background placed around the set of the ship!
I'm American and I don't really have a problem understanding the accents. But I always watch with the captions on just to be on the safe side.

Same guys also made Flight of the Concords & What we do in the Shadows. Also Kaz Rowe is good resource as initial insight on the subject. Ona less comdey, more dramatic route, also Black Sails. :) Also, if people struggle with the character of Buttons dialogue, wouldn't be the first, that actor was also an unitelligable Scott in Trainspotting.

Always very happy to see people love this show from ep.1, cause some people find the first three a little slow, but I knew I was in to watch as soon as I heard the ballroom joke 😅
Fun fact: young Stede is played by Theo Darby, who's dad Rhys plays Stede
Show creator David Jenkins has a cameo this episode as the British officer who gets tea spilled on him and is tied to the boat after 😁

I tried to get into this show when Alex and Josh were reacting to it…it just isn’t my thing. Like you said, it’s a bit ridiculous. Oh well, can’t like them all 🤷♀️😂
I really recommend sticking with it. I wasn’t so sure right up until like episode 8 and now im HOOKED!
It took me a couple of episodes too but it picks up and it keeps you guessing!
