This was a great video. What a fantastic transformation. Even though it's a little matte the look is wonderful and the tone really sings. Bravo 👏 👏 👏 👏

Excellent video! And thanks to you I'm looking for Les Paul juniors myself now, I've never had a single pickup guitar and I guess the time has finally come!

I missed this one! You did a great job on the body, I like the way the finish looks, it's almost boutique looking! I'd like to here it with a little more gain, maybe with a hint of your new Odin octave fuzz. Enjoy your new Guitar Thor🙏

I had always avoided the Epi Junior guitars I found in Pawn Shops because they were horrible. Lousy fret work and very high action. I had one back in the 90's that was worse than horrible with a plywood, double cut body. It actually had 2 neck shims running perpendicular, as in one in the back of the neck pocket, AND one one the side. Fast forward 20 years and I ran across an ad on Facebook Marketplace for a "Rocksmith" guitar 2 years ago. The Rocksmith was an Epi Junior guitar, amp, strap, and chord, players pack. Because there were 2 VERY small scratches on the headstock, the kid wanted $40.00. for the guitar alone. As soon as I touched it I knew I could do great things with it. I didn't argue a bit. Got it home, swapped in a P90, and the frets are perfect. Out of over 50 guitars, almost all have needed some attention of some kind, whether cheap or expensive, but this guitar just needed some decent tuners and another bridge (a real Leo Quan badass. It plays GREAT

Hi, yeah, I've also stayed away from Epi's earlier on but tok a chance on this 'cause I really had so little to loose, and it seemed like a fun project to take on. Boy did it pay off and has become one of my favourites to play. Great sounding P90 and a great neck on this one. I guess there are big variations in the different Epi's out there and that I was lucky with this find. And you're so spot on with that all guitars will need a setup of some kind, and they also will need some tending to every now and then. Cheers, Thor

I had the same project 2 years before, with a black one. My pickup was a Duesenberg Domino P90 and I use silver Teleknobs. I hope your tuners are ok. Great sounding Junior guitars for me and only 150€! How much is your price with this Pickup? I think it is better than my🙈🎅😎🎼🎸

Hi Uli, funny you should mention the tuners. I thought at first that they needed to be replaced, but they seem to hold tuning pretty good, so I will have to test if they are stable over time. If do think it sounds ace now, but am very excited to try the different other magnets I have for the pickup. I haven't summed up all costs but think I will end up around 300€ for this project. Cheers, Thor

I couldn't tell from the video, but is that a plywood body or not? If not, I'm curious as to the origin and the production year for this guitar. I can't seem to find one of these with a solid wood body.
    Thanks!

Hi, to be honest I can't tell for sure. I suspect plywood or some sort of laminate because of the evenly structured, bright face of the wood showing. The serial number indicates that it is a 2011 model made from an unknown factory in China. All the best, Thor

@@GUITARSGIZMOS thanks for your response. I have a Chinese model from 2006 and the lamination is clearly visible in the neck pocket and control cavity. I'm trying to identify when they started using solid wood on these models, as I'd like to replace the body on mine.

Dude, I bought a Epiphone Les Paul Jr on Craigslist from Houston for $80. No fret Sprout whatsoever, neck is perfect. As soon as I got the guitar I went online to purchase a very high-end Boutique P90 pickup, before I even played it. Big mistake! This thing is so creamy, dirty and fun. I got a little sad when the P90 pickup arrived in the mail, very cool guitar. I heard it's a toss-up when you buy these import Les Paul juniors.

It was a single humbucker Les Paul Jr by the way, not a single p90. I will simply take a wood chisel to widen the route for the P90. But the humbucker brings my amp to simple break up beautifully..

Congrats on a great deal for your guitar! I believe you when you say the stock pickups are good. For my project I wanted a guitar with a P90 since I was missing that, and the opportunity knocked to get one here. You just inspired me to do a comparison video of the humbucker and the P90. I didn't have to route anything for my P90, but it's a dog ear version. If you have got a soap-bar P90 I guess some routing/re-filling of the pickup cavity is necessary. Cheers, Thor
