Tangerine Dream forever, please come to Australia again. Loved their music for 45 years and still haven't seen them live. Missed the concert in Melbourne in 2014, which I think was Edgar's last before he passed in 2015. Love them.❤❤❤❤❤
Not quite that long - but had a coworker turn me on to Tangerine Dream back around 1984. I was stationed in Japan which was great as the record shops had quite a number of their albums on CD.
I got see tangerine dream in 1992 in Washington DC It was sooooo beautiful 🎉🎉🎉 And Edgar Froese was really cool to meet afterwards. I'll never forget any of it!!!
Watched these at the Kursaal Southend on Sea in 1974 with my then girlfriend amazing evening every one sitting on the floor hypnotised by the sound of the music ✌️
I agree, you cannot fully appreciate TD's music until you have heard them live in an acoustically grand venue. I was lucky enough to see them when they returned last year to Coventry Cathedral here in the UK, the very first venue I saw them at in 1975. Absolutely stunning.
Same here dude . I saw them in 1984 and to this day it was my favorite concert. They beat out Yes , King Crimson, Genesis , they all were touring that year. I am still in awe and I'm glad they continued on after Edgar. It would be nice to see Peter Bauman in any future TD projects.
They performed in 1988 in downtown San Diego at the California Theater. It was the Optical Race tour. Edgar Froese, Paul Haslinger, and Ralph Wadephul. I met all three with autographs. Plus my friend and I sneaked behind stage and watched sound check. Then kicked out! That was a huge experience for me. Even bootlegged it 🤣 So yes Tangerine Dream was in San Diego. BTW I was at the same concert the day before this one in Tucson Az. Here in Tucson Az. is where they never performed. RIP Edgar🙏
You definitely had a moment to remember back in 1988! I was busy in the U.S. Navy at the time, therefore I missed out on a lot of great times such as yours!
I had no idea TD are still touring. What a fantastic track this is, thank you Mr. Minick for uploading. First became aware of them as Fröse, Franke and Baumann were doing their magic in the mid 70s I've often found that their tracks were best without vocals, but hier it worked well. Never got to see them live, unfortunately. Imagine listening to them perform in a church... wow!
Given that the band has survived fifty years and is now in reality a completely new set of musicians, it raises the real possibility of another fifty years of performing and creativity. This is how theatre companies and dance companies transcend their founders to continue to produce new art. I like the idea of listeners, thirty years from now, getting into a band that is eighty years old, but turned on by their current music, then discovering the legacy and history they were founded upon. TG could well make it to a century and perhaps beyond. Just realised this is with Steve Roach as well, an obvious collaborator given his own work inspired initially by the original TG. Now that is a performance I would have loved to be at.
I agree totally! Hopefully I'll still be alive in 30 years to see the impacts being made! And I might say that this performance was more than I had anticipated!
I know there is a lot of controversy about some bands continuing on without the original members, I think tangerine dream has the potential to last for ages it's more like an orchestra in some ways than a regular band. I've been listening since sometime in the '70s and they just keep getting better I hope they continue for much much longer
Like Kraftwerk only Ralf is the only one left from the original lineup. I'm kind of in that group who likes the original people. I don't think they are the same with different people. They should retire the name and form their own group in my opinion.
@@mr.aerial1885 I agree with you however I have to give some leeway to what the members of the band yes have said in the past about the band being more like an orchestra in the future than a band and then it probably could continue. At some point they should at least have to put something else in the name of the band to indicate a difference
I think it really dosen´t matter if there play now these or that musicians. It´s the music which tells a beautiful orquestral psychodelic electronic history...
I saw these folks in the mid 1970's in Cleveland, Ohio (1st tour) I had a balcony seat close to the stage. The whole place hummed to their music (laterally) I'll never forget how my whole body seemed to vibrate to the sound. ;-)
You beat me to it, I saw them at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium around 1972 or 73. They had the blue lights on the stage and the music was ridiculously soothing. I almost fell asleep. Truly amazing!
I've been a fan of TD for over 50 years. RIP Edgar, he was the flesh and blood of TD. That being said, this new incarnation of the group is very satisfying. I sometimes wish his son Jerome, was still with group, to take on the mantel. I don't know why he didn't stay long. One can only wonder, best life to him. He did add that great guitar flavor his father made so famous with the TD sound. Anyway, my analog synthesis has been mostly influenced by TD. and you want to really get a taste for this new group, I suggest getting all of the sessions discs. They really capture a lot of the sicopated sequences and arpeggios the original band was famous for. Glad this group is touring, look forward to seeing the them in my city of Cleveland. Sorry to be so long but I never commented on TD before. One disc that doesn't get much attention is the movie soundtrack of the Sorcerer. It is from the era of Stratosphere, Ricochet, Thief, and Force majure. The sequences are hypnotic and this era of albums is great for the monotony of a long road trip.
Tangerine Dream is an idea rather than a mere "band" set in motion by the late, great Edgar Froese RIP. Agree, the Sessions are immense and show the idea is alive and thriving. There are many copies but no equals ♥♥♥
I just wish they would return to the N.W of England & perform in my city again.
