A treat. Men like him epitomize all of the reasons why the USA coud become the world power they still are. Be a fine craftsman paying attention to the minutest details, even when the project is quite a bulky one. I jumped on my seat when those gas pockets attempted to vanify the long series of careful preparation steps leading to the final pour. Very well managed and done.
Hi Keith and Lisa 😊, thanks for these great videos on babbit pour, and the whole 9 yds, it's been an eye opener, and watching a true craftsman at work is such a privaledge. Best wishes to you and Lisa. Stuart Uk.
Nice job, Keith ...it's not how much trouble one gets into along the way it's one's skills, experience, & ability to get a quality result for the customer.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge Sir ...... Folks, we are witnessing skills that are becoming lost in time. I see it every day as my "Aging Workforce" retires. It makes me sad to see that the majority of the younger generations have no taste for the blue color skills that built this great country. A piece of paper hanging on a wall did not get us to where we are. Men and women who worked with their hands and came up thru the ranks did. God bless you Keith. Rock on brother! Enjoy the rest of the summer on the cape...It's Gods country...... John
You're forgetting who caused the younger generations to be that way. Who raised them? Who gave them guidance? The current state of the country is completely the fault of the Baby Boomers. This is what happens when you have a wealthy, coddled, spoiled generation. They don't give a damn about anyone but themselves.
Maybe I missed it but what size of a mandrel did you machine for the 5 inch shaft? Reason I ask is what will be the thickness of shims used when machining the bore?
I think I would have used some longer bolts or all thread to fit the feet and put nuts on to lock them in position so that the feet could be used to fully level the unit, saves having to bugger about with the shims.
@@billdoodson4232 being that Keith is a top tier machinist, and he undoubtedly made the legs used to hold the bearing shells, it wouldn't be very difficult to make them custom lengths so it sat level on a level table

Thank you Keith for the dedication, eduction and invention necessary to repair these things right the first time.
Sure is a lot of steps in order to get the results you get on a babbitt pour. All the best, great work.
Good job Keith, similar to a quality paint job "it's all about the prep"

Kate Smith sung God Bless America when we needed it and we needed it now.

👍👍
Very nice. It seems you always get the kinks worked out by the last one and then it is some time before you have to do it again, such is life.
That little explosion of babbit, was slightly puckering.

Keep watching. I've got a couple more videos in this series that will answer that.
Is the white stuff fire box lining.
We took the door off. We threw the door away.

I would have leveled the work bench, so it was just good, forever
@EitriBrokkr Good call, you are probably right. But how many castings of that size are going to be level" in their own right?

Thanks for the video Series of babbit pouring great job 👍❤️❤️. Take care of yourself and family and Girlfriend and be Blessed ❤️.
Hi Keith,
Next time you need to pour a similar babbitt bearing, couldn't you tape the shims to the table so they don't move around on you?
Yeah could
If you do any more of these you need to get some of that Decon Mold Pack like Keith Rucker uses.
I think I should start using a compound called Damn-It !
The first one was a little awkward
