I am glad to hear the details on this from THE source, I have been telling everyone that KOTOR would have its own license. I am going to have to share this to help people understand.

West End went bankrupt, I was actually in contact with one of the developers and one of the owners of west end, I was a game demostrator for west end. :) I miss that company so much. They were good people. I wish I still had the email I got explaining it all.

As strange as it sounds, as a gamer since 1978, I find this drama and discussions fascinating but no real surprise (T$R days). WotC really put their foot in it.

You said on the live stream I just watched that paizo gave a free pdf when you purchase the physical book. That is only for a subscription. But people can buy either the physical book or pdf (which is cheaper).

The last argument would mean that any content that is not self published where the publisher does not own the complete rights are safe from being stolen by WOTC.

    I played KotOR and I played D&D 3.0/3.5. KotOR's system is very 3.0 inspired.

Well it could just as easily be a D100 game

It's pretty much Star Wars D20 or maybe Star Wars D20 Revised based.

So I think Ryan Dancey is incorrect in his current analysis of the OGL 1.0a, and it would be very interesting if you could get him to clarify.
According to some knowledgable people on reddit, it is absolutely not a settled legal fact that WotC cannot 'deauthorise' the OGL 1.0a. It could become legal fact if somebody sued over it, but at present 'deauthorising' is something they legally WotC can do.
Now it is highly likely that if this did happen and it went to court WotC would lose in law, HOWEVER given the case would be long and expensive and Hasbro would try and avoid a summary judgement, it's not clear whether anybody would have the stomach / funds for the fight.
Dancey is obviously correct in saying “we didn’t intend for it to be revokable”, but it is not clear he successfully implemented his intent.
It IS revocable in law, but Hasbro would almost certainly lose if it went to court if their opponents could last the legal fight.
Would be very interesting for you to put this to Ryan, as it changes how 3pp should approach the situation.
