If it works, it works. I'd replace throw out bearing and pilot bearing unless extremely low miles. Primary measurements for the clutch disc are material thickness and depth to rivets from material surface. Hope it works well for you!
These had about 3k miles on them. Turns out stock bearings don't work with a Stage 2 Flyin' Miata clutch though, that bit me that's for sure. Good point about the material thickness!
You need to check the steel pressure plate is level with a straight edge, I used a good quality steel ruler and hold up to the light, of course of you see light coming under the edge then the part is probably warped and needs to be replaced.
Reusing a clutch can potentially save you money when done right! Note, this video was filmed before I put the wrong throwout bearing in with my upgraded clutch.. be sure to do your research before mixing and matching clutch parts!
It works great! I got my flywheel professionally ground and I grounded the pressure plate myself. As long as you use plenty of lubricant and don’t put pressure; let the sandpaper do all the work, you shouldn’t risk warping it. Good idea to grab a ruler to check for low spots.
I need to do this because I bought an antique truck needing a clutch that the pressure plate is no longer made for. For some reason there are numerous clutch discs available cheap but no pressure plates.
I would replace the bearings there not expensive lightly grease the input spline I'm replacing the my hydraulic throw out bearing clutch and pressure plate
Is it possible to see if a pressure plate fingers are uneven on a brand new pressure plate before you install it and yes I would reuse an old pressure plate because the parts quality is way down these days😭😭😭😭😭
Quick qustion About to drop transmision as clutch is slipping quite heavily,do not have the cash to go all out on this so was thinking of re using pressure plate and just get a new clutch plate. Will have flywheel and pressure plate re surfaced. Any advice.
If you pull it and the flywheel and pressure plate look fine, I think that’s a good way to go. If they look severely damaged or hot spotted, then you may need a whole kit
Is it possible to refine/prep a brand new clutch disc and clutch plate, being that they are processed in large quantities and not produced by the best manufactures,(as to say no name branded parts)lets persay,I felt my new clutch disc feels as if it has burs on its edges and so does the clutch plate ..Would a 200 to 300 mile clutch breakin/bedding in be better to remove and flatten these points in the disc and plate also flywheel or could we prep the new parts as you did your old parts, whith a high grit number sanding disc,or take the new parts to a machine shop for "prepping?✌
The clutch on my Nissan Navara D40 is already slipping and the engine vibrating, and I'm short on cash. I've found out about dishonest mechanics who charge for more labour than was actually done.
Hi Cash, I had my 2013 Daihatsu Gran Max clutch & flywheel resurfaced at a good shop. Now, it doesn't release completely. Throw-out bearing is good and pedal does NOT feel spongey What could I check next?
I had the same problem. Used a resurfaced flywheel & low mile clutch. It wasn't disengaging all the way. I bought shims for the throwout bearing (interior slave cyl)
great video and to the point. Thanks. Is it ok to use break cleaner on the clutch disk to make sure is clear of any oil and dirt? Also when you say to make sure the disk has enough meat, how may MM should be the thickness of the disk?
I used it on the disk and it was ok, but I'd do a bit more research to be 100% sure. Thickness will depend on the clutch itself. Take a look at a picture of a new one and compare!
Im following these to get my s13 Silvia going, had the clutch sitting on a shelf for 2 years with the gearbox off the motor, fingered crossed brother

Nice job Young Brother! Very good video that details the prep work so the clutch plate adheres to the flywheel/pressure plate better!👍

I do have a clutch I took out of a 1.8 transmission I sold..I think I'll do just this thanks cash!

Use 120 sand paper too but 220 is good too
Dope video. Currently pulling my hair out trying to get tps fixed on tunerstudio!
What issues are you having, noise in the signal?
@@CashedOutCars not reading right. It's either my harness or the tps itself..ordered a new volt meter so waiting on that
Odd, I’m sure you have but you made sure it’s plugged in the correct way and calibrated in tuner studio right?
Dude I thought your stock clutch was burnt purple where the springs are!!! I see that it was not though lol
I thought the same thing when I first pulled it😂
Another good, helpful, video.
Glad you enjoyed it! I'm quite happy with the results so far!
Thank u for your video.

Well done 👍✅

What grit is best ?

What size sanding disc holder did you use? Was it 2 inch, 3 inch, or 4 inch? And where did you buy it?

Add some super thin washers between the pressure plate and flywheel till you get good release .

Did it end up working or did you get clutch chatter?
This worked well and I've been running plenty of boosted power through it all season, no issues!
£40 vs £319 used clutch it is 😂
I like people who resourcefully do this but why not just have a shop do it, it’s like $40
This was basically free and worked great, plus for $40 I’d be surprised if it wasn’t only for the flywheel. I’ve also seen much higher prices near me
@@CashedOutCars Seriously, flywheel resurfacing goes at least for $100
there isn't to many places doing it anymore
@@CashedOutCars Save 40 dollars and get four gallons gas !
40 bucks 😂😂 clearly you have never had machining done. They charge 40 bucks to look at it let alone do it🤦♂️
