When I'm searching for a good recipe, I HATE the comments that say "looks delicious!" "looks great!. It can look good but taste horrible/bland. If you're looking for good Birria recipe, this is the one. SO good and flavorful. 10/10. Making it a 2nd time within 2 weeks.
I"m a Black American woman who has never made a birria, actually never eaten it either but it looked so good I wanted to try it. I researched and researched almost every recipe dish on YT. Found this video and decided it was the one for me to follow. My birria was amazing! IDK if other recipes will differ in flavor but I'm stuck on this one. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you!!! My mom is Mexican but sadly doesn’t like to cook like my grandma did but I’m trying to learn as many Mexican dishes as I can so my kids don’t lose their culture and can grow up with delicious home cooked food (:
I’m so glad your here!!! I hope you enjoy my recipes and make them for your family. That’s the one thing I will definitely enjoy leaving my kiddos. Authentic recipes for them to one day create for their family.
I think Mexican food is the best in the world, but since I worked in fine dining for over thirty years I enjoy international cuisine also, especially Italian. Love your videos. (I'm Mexican but lived in USA half of my life).
I used this recipe as a base for my FIRST attempt at making birria for myself, im so glad i wrote the link to this video down in my recipe notes so i can look back on it when i need to. It comes out a little different every time since i feel comfortable experimenting with the chile ratio now. Thank you so much this video is a great tutorial!!! Im making birria again today for like the 6th time and im still watching this video! ❤
I made this last night and everyone loved it. Only difference I did was salt the chuck roast well and let it sit for an hour, then I seared it before adding it to the pot. Thanks for the recipe, it was sooo good.

Made this yesterday, ate two tacos today. This is ABSOLUTELY delicious. It is a lot of work. I made per the recipe with two deviations; 1) could not find beef bones and I so wanted to just to taste the marrow, 2) I didn't toast the spices, only because I was moving too fast. I also made the salsa. I found that my spice limit is 4 Arbol chilies (lol), 15 was too much heat for me. The salsa is also great. The sauce, oh the sauce is so good. At the 2 1/2 minute I started tasting the sauce and could not stop. The sauce, the sauce, the sauce. Once you taste it you will see what I am talking about. She continues to talk about flavor upon flavor and she is not kidding. Before adding the sauce I tasted the broth with the meat, very flavorful. This is worth the effort making with the results you get. FLAVOR.

Instead of only seasoning the sauce and the broth i cut my steak into pieces as well as my onion and garlic, put in a bag and marinated with all the ground seasonings used to make the sauce. Obviously different measurement since I cooked a lot of meat but omg it was 🔥. My 14 year old even said it was the best so far! I learned my mother n laws recipe which was very simple n basic but still good. This one however…, top notch!!! Thank you 😊
Ok, so I'm an Okie that comes from an Irish/comanche family. I've always loved cooking and my family's cuisine is a mix. Lots of heat: chili, tamales, tortilla soup etc. Lots of potatoes/ stews. I love branching out and I went crazy with developing my favorite homemade Pho recipe, totally dove in and experimented like crazy because I fell in love with Pho. Did the same thing with curry. I only recently discovered Birria, started with tacos, but the Birria ramen, Jesus Christ. So. Freaking. Amazing. I swear it's the perfect food. This recipe looks amazing and I'm definitely going to try it! You're getting a sub for sure.
Lol… you sound a lot like ME!!! I love to remake food that I love and make it even better 🙌🏽 that’s what it’s all about. Making favorite dishes YOUR OWN! Ohhhhh you’ve hit the jackpot Sir!!! My Birria recipe is amazing. I’m hoping you live it. Be sure to keep me posted 😉

My family is from between Texas and Arizona and I am old, but it seems I remember my grandmother and great grandmother scraping the chilies after they where rehydrated to get rid of the skins and then grinding everything in a molcajete. Does that make any sense? It is one of those distant childhood memories you aren't quite sure if you are remembering right. I only remember it because of my grandfather killing the goat and everyone being happy, except me, I always played with the goat, but I got over it by dinner time!🤣🍻
Dirk Diggler Oh I totally understand what you mean... I have distant memories of my grandmother cooking it up. Having any type of meat to eat was such a TREAT!!! But Goat, oh that was luxury eating. And we didn’t do it often! Yes everything on a molcajete was that way it was done, before blenders. It’s a lot of work to grind Chile’s and salsas but they were happy to do it. I have a molcajete and honestly I need to put it to use more! I’m so happy that my recipe brought back childhood memories for you...that’s what it’s all about. Thanks for your comment and for watching my video.
I have been watching every Birria video I can find - so far only one of them has had you brown the bones and meat prior to adding water. Wouldn't the fond from this process help deepen the flavor? I really want to make the best Birria I can! Thank you so much for your video!
Thank you I finally found a easy way to make birria it came out so good and the chill sauce was the bomb and my taco everyone loved them I have to make more lol but one thing the sauce was a little salty i followed ir recipe but it was still bomb just needed some chips lol 🤙👋🏼🥰
Thank you so much for putting this recipe up I did it exactly how you did it and oh my gosh it was so delicious my whole family loved it my little ones even loved the meat by itself
Thank you for the video I will definitely try it! Do you think it would turn out almost as good if I used a pressure cooker? I want to reduce the cook time.
I definitely eat the marrow, I’ve even thrown hard-earned demi glace into my braising liquid for most of the cook, the result for the consistency of the consomé is too good to pass up ❤️🔥 great video, no corners cut and I’m sure it turned out amazing
Making this right now after many many years wanting to try it I decided to make it my self your video is so clear in explaining and I love it .. I will be back to let you know how it turned out 💗💗💗 Thank you

Thank you! I made this for my wife's birthday in November and it was amazing! Only issue is...one of her friends loved it and I now have to make it again for her baby shower. I have to make a lot, 19lbs of meat. Do I triple the ingredients to season water, and make the salsa? (That's a lot of chiles)😅
Thank you I’m glad your wife enjoyed!!! Yup now you’ll be the go to Birria guy lol. It’s definitely amazing. Glad my recipe was a hit. I’d double the Chiles 🌶 and triple the seasonings. And adjust as you go… taste the broth after the second round of seasonings. If you feel it could take a lil more then add a lil bit more of everything. Please let me know how it goes.
❤️😂❤️ I could almost smell your food in the video ❤️😂❤️ Thank you for your time and the video. I’m a truck driver and when I get home I’ll share my comments of how y version turns out, hopefully it’s half as good as yours

Obviously different measurement since I cooked a lot of meat but omg it was 🔥. My 14 year old even said it was the best so far! I learned my mother n laws recipe which was very simple n basic but still good. This one however…, top notch!!! Thank you 😊

I just made it! And my family loved it! Thank you! 💖🥰
you're welcome!!! so happy you enjoyed

Holy MOLY, you're ONTO something with the last one! It was so good!!!

I definitely eat the marrow, I’ve even thrown hard-earned demi glace into my braising liquid for most of the cook, the result for the consistency of the consomé is too good to pass up ❤️🔥 great video, no corners cut and I’m sure it turned out amazing

This looks very similar to a Pakistani dish called “nihari.” I gotta try this! I’ve had birria tacos in Mexico but never made it. Thanks for this recipe!
You’re welcome. Hope you love it.
This Recipe is Evvvvverrrythinngggg, my mom and I love it thank you so much for the recipe. I made so much out of this one dish and I love it alllllllll! I always loved birria and didn't know how to make it, but I am glad I found you and this recipe is definitely going into my recipe book. 🥰🥰🥰🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🥰🥰🥰
🤗🤗🤗 so happy to hear that. I just made some this week too 🤤 it’s so bomb 🙌🏼 glad you and your mom loved it.
Gracias por la receta, definitivamente la voy hacer👍🏼
Si!!! Y me dejas saber como te gusto 😋
