    Awesome techniques! Perhaps you could use a nail when you part off your rings: put the tip through the hole and let the ring fall onto the nail.

    • @Dmaclocksport
      @Dmaclocksport  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching. Then nail would stop them flying off but, inserting it into the spinning pin could cause the nail to go flying off too!

    Outstanding and deliciously sadistic work. I love the intricacy and how they'll make the binding order a moving target. I sure hope I never come across any of these at the end of my pick. Yikes.

    I started watching this and wondered if I could just drill out some master wafers, since I have no fine saw like that. I've drilled pins before but they were small drivers. Tweezers weren't working to chuck up that tiny pin... so I picked it up with a piece of electrical tape. Worked! Just made 2 from Kwikset #4 Master wafers. I'll try smaller after I watch the rest of this video.
    Yes. I was able to do #2 wafers and that is about as small as I think practical. After dragging them across some 600 grit paper they measured out about 0.95 mm thick.

      @@Dmaclocksport I got to use some JB weld to fill in the the trap pin holesat the 1030 position on the plug. Had bricked one up because I went clockwise with the key ground off the crimps and was able to get the pins plus it gave me an extra plug to practice undercutting, so no real loss. This video helps out a lot! Thanks for putting it up! I will have to give your way a try!

    Cool video on how to make those pins, very neat work. Little worried that the super glue wouldn't hold up to picking for long. Maybe the glued end could have a smaller diameter so less force would be applied to it in the bible chambers.

    I don’t want to teach my grandmother to suck eggs so to speak.
    Rather than regular Super Glue, I think I would use permanent grade Loctite, I have seen and used it in fitting and turning on a lathe or milling machine, it works really well.

    • @Dmaclocksport
      @Dmaclocksport  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Although I havent had any problems to date, I had some similar comments previously. I did a rattlesnake pin update video where I used a ball peen hammer to close the loose rings as another, more permanent option 👍🏻

  • @SadisticPicker
    @SadisticPicker 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I never thought u could use a dill bit like that. What is holding that bit? Is it a hand crank style holder? Or did u manipulate something into a holder? Great video mate!

    • @Dmaclocksport
      @Dmaclocksport  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers buddy. It's called a pin vice. Designed for hobby use where you need to drill by hand. The principle is the same as a lathe in that the cutting bit is not spinning, but the material is. This means you get a better cut and it self- centres 👌🏻

    I wanted to let you know that I've found the best way for me to make rattlesnake pins. I've tried silver solder and it's hard to get the cap to stay where you want it when trying to heat it up and don't apply solder. Epoxy is very messy and can be unpredictable, at least for me. If you're interested sir I can give you my email address and I'll gladly show you what I've come up with.
    The way that I found you're able to adjust the size of the pin as well as any distance you want to give your buttons / wafers to move around.

    • @Dmaclocksport
      @Dmaclocksport  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure, I'd be interested to know. I've been toying with another idea myself actually. My email is indysigns@live.co.uk

      Me neither! Epoxy might be stronger although superglue hasnt failed me yet. They certainly look neater with this method 😁👍🏻

  • @SadisticPicker
    @SadisticPicker 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Also do y’all have Gorilla glue? Or even maybe a 2 part epoxy? I wouldn’t trust super glue to hold anything other than what it’s originally designed for, which was mending wounds in battle. Or maybe it doesn’t matter once installed? Or am I over thinking it can still work if separated? I’m tough on picks and pins for sure as I’ve been heavy handed while learning. And was a tip I heard from LPL in one of his tensioning clips. I think light is the key. Punn intended 😂

    • @Dmaclocksport
      @Dmaclocksport  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So far, so good with superglue. No failures yet. The superglued bit sits higher in the bible so shouldnt be subjected to strong force. I am planning on using epoxy next time to compare though.
