Anime are best known for their "study" . Every facts you see in anime, it's likely true because theyve done study. And probably the same with this hachiman. They probably asked lots of "loner" to know their feelings before made this anime. That's why it stuck in your head because it's true and most relatable.

@@Bubbalove007 I am 70% hachiman. I used to hate my past because I'm always the last in everyone choice, always try to fit in any group, seek for attention. But now, just like hachiman I really don't care about fame, friends or any useless thing like that. I become 100% loner and proud of that just like hachiman rn. Thanks to my past, I now can judge people better and become more mature. So, I really can understand hachiman feelings and why he become like that. And, hachiman qoute about "I hate nice girl" it really hit me hard cause that's me in the past. Always make stupid grin if a girl chat or talk to me. But fortunately I've open my eyes.

    Well I think I get Hachiman's point.
There's story I am willing to shared, in the past maybe I'll embarrassed my self, but now it is only acceptance.
I was a loner back in Highschool, sure I have friends, but never too close to share stories. Then this girl appeared of nowhere.
I and this girl didn't share the same class during 10th grade and 11st grade. We know each other because we shared the same class in our last year of the school. It's just a rumor, I know that this girl just got broken up with her boyfriend in 11st grade, I don't know why, but at first I thought she just when her way to exchange pointer, like sharing results of our exams, teaching each other about subject we are weak for.
I dare to call myself the strongest and smartest in entire grade if it come to Math, and so is she in Chemistry. We exchange pointer, learn from each other, compare our work to each other, even go to the same tuition center after school together, and join local science olympics together for our strongest subject.
Day by day, months by months, we spend time together, not for entertainment like go to watch movie or special dates, just only pure business like studying together. This shared moments, lasting until the first semester of our 12nd grade.
My feeling to her then begin to grow, so is my hope, delusions, and dream. At some point, I talked to myself, I don't want this to end after we graduate.
Then it came without warning. Her ex want to connect with her again. She accepted. In the end, it's only me and my broken hearts.
Now, it's only me and my job, never lucky enough to encounter my fated ones, even in college.
Thank you for reading my sad story, don't worry, I am happy right now with my life.

Man I remember watching this when I was in HS and heavily related to Hachiman. I even started to admire him back then and marched forward to the loners path. After HS I tried to turn over a new leaf and start trying to be positive along with working on myself because I was so close to just becoming a shut in and just rot away. Forced myself to work at a Starbucks to improve my social skills and hell I even met my 1st real best friend. However my love life remained stagnant I looked much better than before and became known as a extremely positive person and hard working. Always commended for staying up beat despite the fact I later started working at a Walmart warehouse and continued to work at Starbucks. Things seemed like they were changing for the better and yeah I guess they were but romance is still something I could not achieve. I still got rejected by the girl I had known for 5yrs. That ended in 2019 I’m 27 fucken years old now and here I am again…. I had been striving to get passed this, clinging on to hope that things would be different. Finally accepting it wasn’t meant to be and met someone new almost 2 years ago only to end up back here. The later seasons along with other anime dealing with characters like Hachiman really helped me push through and try to improve myself believing I’ll finally experience a genuine romantic relationship. I’m so tired of yearning I honestly don’t know what to do anymore. Even after all the effort I’ve spent to grow it still feels like nothing about me has changed. I feel like just giving up and becoming the shut in NEET I fought so hard to avoid becoming. I have zero energy left but the only reason I won’t do any of that is because of my pets who depend on me. I guess my mistake was trying to change and grow for others and not myself. I don’t know man I hope anyone who reads this doesn’t make my mistake. Grow for yourself not for others. Trauma dump to the void is over I’ll stfu now lmao

We relate to Hachiman in the worst way. Please don't treat this as the absolute truth...
People will fucking hurt us, some treat us like trash, but that doesn't mean there will never be someone we can share our burdens with, someone who can take the worst of ourselves. That someone might me a friend or a lover.
As my favorite fictional teacher says,
"Think, writhe, struggle." We can be better, but if we can't learn to be honest with ourselves, or to be vulnerable to the people we want to spend our lives with, how can we ever move forward?
If Hachiman can do it, so should we. You're fine, don't give up. We'll be fine...

Indeed. It's sad that people look to Hachiman as some preacher of truth when they really don't understand that its a declaration of despair and feelings of hopelessness in ever finding happiness.
The show is saying "yeah we may be a Hachiman at one point in our lives, but don't try to stay in that state forever. It's unhealthy. Change for the better and learn to accept life as it is."

People after hearing/reading this quote often misunderstand and misuse it to start despising girls for this reason.
Let me elaborate this for u people. People take his words in a literal way, when he says he hates nice girls its not because he hates their existence or despises them from within. He hates them just because how these girls make him feel when they be nice to him. He hates that feeling that a guy gets when a nice girls talk to him and be kind to him. Because of this he starts to hope for more interaction and it awakens his inner desire to want to feel that emotions and love, which he has sorted out and patched it up over the years.
Because he knows what'll happen again if he starts to persue those desires. And that makes him more angry. People need to understand the motive behind these words.
Nice Girls are always going to be kind to u, it's just how they're raised to be. And don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with that, it's just there's a part within me aswell that hopes that all girls need to stop being too kind. It's just a lie in the end, coz it means nothing.

    I hate nice girls.
Just exchanging pleasantries with them makes me curious,
and texting each other makes me feel restless.
If I get a call, for the rest of the day,
I'll keep checking my call history with a stupid grin on my face.
    But I know the truth,
    They're just being nice.
Anyone nice to me is nice to others too.
But I always find myself on the verge of forgetting that.
If the truth is a cruel mistress,
then a lie must be a nice girl.
And so, niceness is a lie.
    I would always hold expectation.
    I would always mistunderstand.
At some point, I stopped hoping.
An experienced loner never falls for the same trap twice.
A lone warrior, surviving hundreds of battles.
When it comes to losing, I'm the strongest.
That's why, no matter what happens,
I will always hate nice girls.

Poor Hachiman just wants someone who only likes him, but like in a real way. He doesn't have his parents home and only interacts with his sister a few times. If he really wanted to leave the club, he could just threaten the teacher with saying he would sue her and leave the club. He wanted to get the attention of someone who woulf be loyal to him through his whole life. Now that I look back and realise this, Hachiman really has a sad backstory

This is how I see it, Oregaru is a story of change. Hachiman's character develops a lot from the beginning of the story, and from the very start he was bound to change his rotten perspective in life, that is why Sensei put him in the service club to begin with (I think she saw her past self in Hikigaya thus wanted to help him, but that's another theory). My point is, if you relate to some aspect of Hachiman that is fine, but if you still agree with him (his past perspective) you may have some growing up to do. Hachiman looked down on others, he thought of them as inferior in their way of life, but even more twisted is how this was a lie he fabricated to cover up the actual truth, he looked down on himself.
He convinces himself that his philosophy is the right path and being a loner is the absolute way of life, when in reality he just wants to fit in but hides it behind his loner façade with self deprecating humor. The way he helps others is by worsening his image, he wants others to hate him the way he hates himself. I don't think that it is a good way of living your life. I grew up watching Hachiman (heck, that's seven fucking years), and my view grew with his. I cant say this is THE interpretation of his whole character, but that's the way I interpret it now. If you were to ask the me in freshman year of highschool what I thought of Hachiman Hikigaya, I would have replied with a "Deep" "he is a real one" "woke" as back then I was in total agreement with his perspective. Now, all I see is a teenager struggling to fit in and lying to himself on what it means to be happy, while hiding what he truly wants. "When it comes to losing, I'm the strongest" if that isn't a portrait of self deprecation, i dont know what is

    • @kindnessisalie5411
      @kindnessisalie5411 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

I partially agree with this statement. However, I also partially disagree. Hiki has shown character development throughout the series where he first starts as a self-deprecated character, and later learns to open up. But I personally still agree with the statement "If truth is cruel, then lying must be kind. Thats why kindness is a lie." Hiki is self deprecated and looks down on himself because he is scared to face the cruel truth. The truth is always cruel because reality is cruel. Life is cruel. There is never an instance where one is always happy throughout their lives, and if there is, they are lying to themselves. Humans are born cruel, we are only kind because we have hidden motives, whether you want to admit it or not. Even genuinely complementing someone as simple as saying "you look pretty in that outfit" is only done to be liked, or to make someone else feel better about themselves. This is not a genuine act because its full of pity or arrogance and self-advancement. Therefore kindness is a lie. A lie to yourself, and others.
But we still are kind, because we are not being truthful. There is still inequality and racism in the world because humans were not born as equals, and we will never be. Thats just the truth, if no humans were born the same (financially, family, religion, health...). Thats what makes us unique afterall. We are filled with self-pride, and will do anything to bring others down just to bring ourselves up. Its human nature. Those who deny this fact, and still believe in equality, are just being kind to those who are less fortunate (like myself). But how can we ever move past this if we keep lying to ourselves? If we keep believing that life is fair? We will just be stuck in lies of deceptive fantasy.
The truth is cruel because it is reality. Lying is kind because it acts as a barrier so we dont have to face reality. And kindness is a lie, because it is never genuine.

Hachiman obviously has flaws, in terms of dealing with the problems he is facing. However, what he has explained about life is not wrong, in most cases. The author obviously reads a lot because I've seen contexts of existentialism, mimesis, and even largely nihilism. This, for example, about lie being fake reminds me of how Plato explains how all things are imitations of something genuine and thus, are all fake.
And hachiman is actually really observant in this quote. What he says is actually true, because teens care a lot about their image and attention, so a lot of them put on an act. Adults think they grew out of it, but no, ur surrounding changed and ur hormones don't crave for attention as much anymore. U r not surrounded by teens anymore and only the genuinely kind ones remain. Hachiman didn't contradict this because the show introduced that popular guy in his class(the blonde hair one). Only he saw his real face. Because he knows it's no use putting up the nice guy act in front of him.

      @DBZHGWgamer ปีที่แล้ว

@@wit4witcher What, the point of Hachiman's character and speeches early on is that he *is* wrong. He's not 100% wrong, there are some grains of truth, but ultimately his view of the world was perverted by his past which lead him to interpret reality in a fundamentally mistaken manner. At the start of the show he saw himself as some how fundamentally different from "normal" or "popular" kids... and he acted as if the social situations they put themselves in were detestable and pointless. But ultimately that was all a lie he told himself to cope with his situation, and he ends up doing exactly what the normal kids he hated did, and the thing about them he hated the most, and he eventually realizes how he had been lying to himself when he decides he doesn't want that but he wants something "genuine."

    • @wit4witcher
      @wit4witcher ปีที่แล้ว

@@DBZHGWgamer he isn't wrong. I won't explain again. I think I did enough with the theories I laid down already there. Hachiman wasn't wrong. He just found someone genuine. He was generalising. In the bigger picture, he was correct.

For anyone wondering this is the quote :
    I hate nice girls.
Just exchanging greetings with them will get them on your mind.
Start texting each other, and your heart will be set a flutter.
If they call you, you're done for.
Enjoy staring at your logs and grinning like a fool.
However, I won't get fooled again. That's what your kind calls kindness.
If you're nice to me, you're nice to others.
I always end up nearly forgetting that. Reality is cruel,
So I'm sure lies are a form of kindness.
Thus, I say kindness itself is also a lie.
I always ended up with these expectations.
And I always ended up with these misunderstandings.
And before I knew it, I stopped hoping.
A highly trained loner is once bitten, twice shy.
As a veteran on this battlefield of life, I've gotten used to losing.
That's why I always hate nice girls. - Hachiman Hikigaya

You can't let one rejection destroy your romantic life. Some people are going to have romantic feelings for you, some wont. You'll never find someone who can reciprocate your feelings if you're always hiding in fear because of one rejection, you just need to be willing to accept that rejection. It's always better to directly approach a girl relatively early on about your feelings than to wait and hope they'll start to feel the same later, your feelings will just keep growing but if they aren't into you that's realistically not going to change no matter what you do. Even worse if they are into you they might think you're not into them if you hide how you feel and move on. Also you won't give your own feelings as much time to grow, so it will hurt less, use up less time, and leave you in a position to find someone who is into you sooner.

Was made fun of from elementary to middle school. Bullied. So whenever someone was nice to him he expected there might be something more to it. But there wasn't like the kaori scenario, they instead made more fun of him and called him creepy. It's basically a puppy that has been kicked so much that it didn't bother trying to stand again. He has no hope. In his eyes he is worthless and no one would ever want associate with him and that he has no redeeming qualities. It's from here that his misanthropic, pessimistic and nihilistic views come from. So whenever someone shows interest in him, his first thought is to find their ulterior motive so as to not get hurt and disappointed. He can't take things at face value. He always tries to read btw the lines. This is s1 hachiman, s3 hachiman is very different.
Ppl think his ideology is cool and all but it isn't theirs truth to what he says but that only applies to some situations. They grow out of it like I did.
