If John Candy doesn't make you laugh, there is something wrong with you. If you don't tear up thinking about the fact that he's gone, you're not human. What a wonderful person John was. So glad I was able to meet him.

Dude. Come on. Fuck the Blahscars.™ Seriously. They're industry trade awards. Nothing more. John Candy's going to be remembered for as long as movies are-you think Monique or whoever who won an Oscar™ back in 2005 are gonna be? Because they won themselves a shiny piece of shit?
Nah. Oscars™ are a joke. I think more and more people are starting to understand just how meaningless and cold the whole enterprise is. Ratings are WAY down. Good riddance. •b

Unfortunately, comedies aren't treated the same way as others. If I'm wrong, only one comedy won Oscars in the last four decades. As a matter of fact, comedies include some drama. And even without that, best comedies deserve more credit. But who cares? Viewers give credit anyway very credit is due. Like the case with John Candy.

That was such a funny movie. I'll never forget the scene where he's driving, begins to remove his coat, only to get tied up by it unable to steer the car. hahaha! I was literally rolling in the floor laughing at that.

John Candy was the type of person most normal people would want to have as a family member you always want to be around, that's at least my feeling about that man. John Candy was a loveable character. John Candy was so loveable a person that I will miss him forever.

I'll always love John Candy because he reminds me of my father who would have been 75 today had he lived passed 64. My Dad loved him and I have so many great memories of watching John Candy films with my Dad. So, in honor of my father, who I lost to cancer, I wanted to watch something on John Candy today. Excellent tribute. Thank you so much for posting. I hope my Dad got to meet him in Heaven.

2020 and I'm still bummed out that he's gone. I was only 7 (almost 8) when he died and I only knew him from the end of home alone. It was in the years after he died that I became familiar with many of his other movies and only fairly recently did I decide to look into him as a person and that's when his death really hit me, 25 years after the fact. What an awesome person he was from anything and everything I can find about him. The world needs a little more John Candy in it.

I felt exactly the same. Born in 1987 and saw most of his movies after he died but hadn't known because of how young I was and when I found out it really affected me as he has such a magnificently warm and fun energy about him. It's also especially sad given how young he was of course.

He’s one of the few men who could actually make my old man cry with laughter. The first time we watched Planes Trains and Automobiles together was a memory I’ll never forget.
Just a perfect comedy. Perfect. It had that hint of pathos in the ending when you find out Dels wife was dead. Very touching and that was down to John Candy’s performance. They don’t make films like that anymore.

John was a beautiful kind sweet teddy bear who made me laugh at everything he did. Could you imagine what he would be doing today for movies and films. The song is so true Only The Good Die Young.. So many great people who ment alot to us. There was just something so special about John and I still to this day miss him dearly. If I could party with two people that have passed on they would be John candy cause he would make me laugh and Janis Joplin cause I would have grate music and a good drink. Hope you are resting in peace

I am 17 years old and most people I talk to have no idea who john candy is. John Candy was the funniest actor/comedian I grew up with. I have seen most of his movies and I have nothing bad to say about any of them. You never have to many actors like john anymore. They all have big heads and are dicks to all of there fans. But... John Candy was not like that he was a person that even when he was down and sad he would still try to make others happy no matter what. That is what makes a true actor and John Candy was that true actor, and always will be. John, even though I was not born when all of your movies came out I still found out about them and it is by far the best thing I ever discovered. I watched planes, trains, and automobiles the other day and I cried I could not help it. RIP John you will always be missed, and when I am down and sad, you are the person that I need to see to make the day better. Love you John always :)

the world is become a poorer place since the world lost you, i don't know about anyone else, but movies don't make me laugh as much today, as when i saw you, they're just trying to be funny, sometimes it works, and i laugh, but i don't except to laugh during a comedy film anymore. the the only thing i enjoy about a comedy film is it made me laugh.

Tell you a true John Candy Story. No BS here. There was a priest at Neil McNeil who was the Guidance Counselor. He was a mean man, truly a mean man and he somehow took it upon himself to burst as many bubbles as he could. No matter what you wanted to be, he told you why you couldnt make it. I remember him for what he said to me. 5 years after I graduated there was a 25th anniversary of the school and a dinner. John Candy a famous grad 5 years ahead of me (I never met him) was the 'featured guest", so I bought a ticket. I go to it and Candy is up at the head table. The aftorementioned priest Fr. Fleming who was now Principal was there as well. John is introduced by Fleming and sits down. It was well known that Fleming told John that he would be nothing but a factory worker after being a failed lineman. John somehow rigged it that he would hit him with coconut cream pie. I can still hear that "whack" when John hit him in the face (really hard) with the pie. He was asked to make a donation to the school and he never did. True story and the only time i saw John. Both men are deceased now.

I often think of John Candy since his passing in March 1994. It was a great shock to me to have lost such a comedic genius at such a young age. I often watch his movies as a means of paying tribute to such a wonderful man. His legacy is larger than life and his time on earth provided such a wealth of merriment to many. I was told by someone who actually met John in a bar in Scarborough that he was truly a down-to-earth kind of guy. The real McCoy! Although he has been gone from this world for so many years, he still stirs up a lot of very strong emotions in me... I thank John for the laughs and happiness he brought to my life. I will be forever grateful to him and always remember him as a comic legend!

I remember mourning over John Candy's death in 1994, and I still mourn when I think of him. The world lost an incredible person and an incredible actor. He was one of a kind and nobody can ever replace him. I still wish he was around and still making movies. :( RIP Mr. John Candy

I miss him I met him a couple of times in Toronto. He had a heart of gold. Imagine what he would be doing today for movies and comedy. In a big selfish way I am pissed a God I pray to him always and for some reason he keeps taking away people who well all love and now God is getting the best show ever he has everyone who made us dance sing laugh and even teary eye's kinda movie. The song is so true only the good die young. May John candy and everyone who has passed on rest in peace. They might not be here in the flesh but they all will live on forever on the big screen.

I was 9 years old when John passed. My parents, knowing full well what he meant to me, broke the news to me instead of me hearing it on the radio or the news. I was so heartbroken. John, to this day, remains my favorite actor and one of my favorite people. He is one of four celebrities whose passing shook me, the other three are Chris Farley, Robin Williams, and Alan Rickman. All four of these men had such big meaning in my life and brought me joy. I will miss them forever. Thank you, John, for all your love and for the years of laughter you brought to us.

He was a lovely guy. I fondly remember watching his movies during childhood and being quite sad when he passed in 94. My grandmother took me aside to tell me as she knew I was mad about him.

It seems to me that John Candy was everyones friend, whether it was in a movie or real life. When we pass from this life we should ask ourselves, will we be remembered and if we are will it be with a smile. John Candy has both.

I have lots of memories of when rock stars and actors died, like Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain, but few deaths have affected me like John Candy's. He was, I think, what everyone said and more. He was a brilliant, sensitive, incredibly talented man whose body of work is one of consistency and one of the funniest ever, whether on the small or big screen. I've missed him since the day I he died and I never met him. I wish I did.

It's hard to believe next year will be 25 years. Even though we miss him we can take solace in the fact that everyone that speaks about him, still to this day, say he was exactly who you hoped he was and wanted him to be. In a world where our heroes rarely live up to the lofty standards we set for them John Candy exceeded every expectation we could have possibly had.
