Man I wish I knew about these attachable enclosures!!! I kept looking for an open top enclosure because I know glass is pretty stressful for turts and wanted an enclosure bigger than this one but didn't realize you could connect them. Ended up making my own out of pvc boards which while ultimately much cheaper and bigger than even 2 of these was quite a bit more time consuming to plan. Really liked the guide, would maybe say as a small revision though could be good to go more in depth on feeding (especially like prioritizing leafy greens & protein sources) and uv lighting (which I know is really really not an easy topic to goin depth without spending a good hour or two).
I bought 2 of these exact Amazon enclosures for my box turtles in the winter, when they are inside and I absolutely LOVE these enclosures! Worth every penny! I’m abt to order 1-2 more for this winter. I highly recommend these for box turtles, esp if u bring ‘em in for winter or cold months. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you, you provided good information! And I was just about to order that same enclosure from amazon when I came across your video so I am going to look some more before making a final decision on Turts inside housing.
Really good video, thank you! Just a suggestion on some of the issues you mentioned while assembling: 1. turn down the torque on the drill will prevent over driving the screws and cracking the wood. 2. for the protective liner on the windows, use a box cutter to carefully and lightly cut the liner around the edges before pulling off. For the enclosure, How often do you recommend changing out the substrate, or what do you recommend to essentially keep it fresh?
Thanks for the suggestions! For keeping it clean, I take out any solid waste I see! I also have a clean up crew of isopods and springtails that help me get anything I missed. I'll probably replace some of the substrate around the 1 year mark!
Thank you, I had already checked that when trying to find his first owner and ultimately deciding to keep him. His shell was completely covered in cheap craft paint, so it's probably for the best whomever had him set him free to find us. We have kept him in a hand me down habitat that my mother in laws Sulcata outgrew and he just got upgraded to this same habitat. Thank you so much for your video and your quick replies. I have been doing so much research, but there is a lot of information that is hard to find.
Girl you need a box cutter. Or at least something that isn't a literal kitchen knife 😂 I appreciate the little touches you add while editing like zooming in when you threw the plastic bag behind you
Hi from Michigan Another excellent video, how about April O'Neil, for a name. Just a little reference to the days of the teenage mutant ninja turtles. Or maybe beebee, or Betty. But what ever you decide it's going to be great. Love the video.
I have the same enclosure. I am in the process of setting it up. Can you tell me how far to hang the uva uvb light. Is it okay to lay it right on the enclosure. I bought a 5.0 light. Does the box turtle get enough uva uvb rays when she is under the hide most of the day?
I saw that you use the vivtech UVB light for your turtle, but what heat lamp do you use? I do not know what kind to get and would love your advice. Thank you in advance and for your helpful video.
May I suggest you making your channel a true family friendly channel without the profanity so that you can get more subscribers? We are looking for such channels, but we will not be able to subscribe to this one unfortunately. Too bad the channels name attracts children and families.
Great video with the combo of information and entertaining content! Can't wait to see the outside enclosure.
Thank you!

I was gonna say "first!" but I think a more appropriate thing to say to reference youtube circa 2010ish is...
"I like Turtles"
Very good and fully informational video.
Thank you!
Thank you for all the information, it has been extremely helpful. I'm just getting started with box turtles.

Thank you so much! We live in Central Texas and someone's abandoned ornate box turtle showed up on our doorstep. This is so helpful!
Be careful to research the laws regarding keeping native reptiles in your area. It's illegal to keep Ornate Box Turtles here in Wisconsin!

Gotta keep myself entertained when I'm editing for 6+ hours

I think April is a great name, and she went to her first outreach program in April too. I'll have to give it some serious thought
What size lamp fixtures and bulbs are you using
What kind of pond sealer did you use?
