    I've had the Skilsaw SPT99-12 (the 12 means it comes with the Diablo 10 inch blade the 11 comes with the manufacturers blade) for over 5 months now and it's just incredible. So powerful and has ripped through everything I've thrown at it. I did a project at the weekend that involved ripping in half twenty two 12 foot 2x4s that had been pressure treated and were really wet as a result of the pre-treatment. The table saw ripped through them one after another without flinching for a second. I have also been using an 8" Freud dado stack with it regularly and it treats it like a 6" stack. The worm drive makes this thing way more powerful than the amperage would have you believe. My advice would be to get it from acmetools as they sell it for $499 and their customer service has been great. They also offer free shipping and when I purchased it they had a promo and threw in a Skilsaw Sidewinder Circular saw (around $149 value) for free! If you are looking for a job site table saw then honestly just get this one. You will not be disappointed. My only complaint is that they haven't made a dado insert for the SPT99 yet and the old one only lets you use a stack up to 1/2". The new insert is supposed to let you use a stack up to 9/16" but honestly you can just make your own insert. Also you cannot use a Freud Dial A Width Dado stack with the SPT99. Here's the link for the amcetools deal: www.acmetools.com/shop/tools/skilsaw-spt99-12-worm-drive-table-saw-and-stand

    I guess if you are going to do a video review of a product, you should have all your facts straight and available so people know exactly what they are getting. This was kind of done willy-nilly with no real substance. If I need to know something about the specifications, I have to look it up on line.

      Just goes to show you, any body can do you tube videos! LMAO. I can here looking for facts and these guys didn't even know what the warranty was because it was on the box and they threw it away! At first when he was talking about the directions I was like shit i like picture too. The he showed the directions. I was like that looks fine to me.

    Found a Bosch 4000 for a crazy pride as I was about to order this saw. (A plenty fine saw...no regrets.) However, a good friend happened to buy this saw the same week, and after checking this out? What a saw. Cuts accurate and smooth, moves easily, plenty of power and quality construction (even though plastic is used in some important spots? Seems tough enough though.)
    Going to do some preventative maintainance to the Bosch to extend that fortunate investment but? This saw is clearly a cut above as far as power, stability and ease of transportability and use. (Deserves all the appreciation found out there....Go Skillsaw.)

    I just ordered a SPT99-12, from Acme Tools 3 days ago, $516.79 including a zero clearance throat plate. I'm not sure if I would have ordered it if I'd seen this ad first. Tweedledee isn't that convincing. I hope my life never depends on the stability of the saw.

    The only problem I have with these job site table saws is if you can push on the blade sideways and it changes angle by a few degrees. (Obviously do this with the Saw off and even unplugged!!) I can set my blade perfectly square to the table and while pushing wood through, the angle changes. You can certainly see it just by pushing on it. And yes I have the blade angle locked down nice and tight. Up examination, the hinge part actually deflects. Not a huge deal for sheet goods, but it’s definitely noticeable on larger stock. Looks like it’s been cut with a bevel. How well does this Saw do in terms of that? Can you push the blade sideways or does it stay in place?

    I like direct drive table saws. The power is predictable. My belt drive saw (220v) has plenty of power, but under extreme load it gets a little funky. My smaller direct drive saw doesn't quite have the power, but it is more predictable or more linear or something. Not sure really, I just like it.

    I've been gone for a minute, Dan's lost some weight! Nice to see this hitting at least a 3-1/2" high cut, I think my Dewalt DW745 maxes out at 3-1/8". Thought it was priced a little high but if that includes a rolling stand that sounds about right. Skilsaw and Skil are the same company, right? I've wasted my money on a total piece of garbage Skil brand recip saw, and I mean it was junk. On the other hand, Skilsaw sidewinder circular saws are bulletproof and more or less built this country... 2 totally different levels of production I guess

      Skil is homeowner DIY grade and Skilsaw is contractor grade.

  • @JefeDog

    "That's good stability"... he says as the whole table wobbles. I do like the stability of the Dewalt rolling kit better. Though the Dewalt has small wheels, so the Skilsaw is better there.

    • @alexreid4131

      From what I've seen online the general consensus is that even though it's a 15 amp motor same as the Dewalt, Bosch and others because it's a Worm Drive (which these guys didn't even talk about) it cuts through material much easier. I heard that noise your talking about also but didn't hear the same thing with even heavier cuts in other videos so, yeah, user error? ha ha I just ordered one of these today after thinking I was going to get the Dewalt for months. So I guess I'll have a realistic true to life update for you in a few months.

      It's a lightweight, inexpensive saw. What do you expect? The question isn't "How powerful is it?" Rather, the questions is "How powerful is it relative to its direct competition?" I think this saw does very well.

    I admit I fell for this piece of junk a couple years ago, I knew skil wasn't known for quality but I got duped by a review like this one " Its got a Hemi, Get Er Dun" but that was my bad, don't be like me and own a big ol' paperweight. Stick to the known quality brands if you make a living with these tools.

    • @mwgrc
      @mwgrc 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KenNordin Yes and I still have it, the tires melted in this Texas heat in my enclosed trailer and have a permanent flat spot on um, the pinion that raises the blade up and down will vibrate and move causing the blade to rise up or down so if your performing a rabbit that needs to be pretty close you better vise grip the pinion so it cant move, the handle fell off then stripped out, had to re-engineer that. I've owned rigid, Dewalt and this one, none are perfect but the Dewalt was the best, this one came in last. I was being a Smart Arse but really was just trying to make the point that these videos are sponsored so keep that in mind before purchasing based off these reviews. I got all caught up in it has a worm drive, it has a worm drive. (hence the Hemi Joke) In reality the worm drive adds nothing to the saw, it will bind up like all the rest if you overwork it.

      Skil is a different product line than Skilsaw. Skil is more meant for DIY people, Skilsaw is the heavy-duty contractor brand. Skilsaw makes great stuff. Their circular saw is probably the best-known circular saw in the world.
