About 2 months ago I purchased a used 2013 Kia Soul..base model..cherry red. Very nice. I drive alot of highway and got 479 miles out of a tank of gas one week and I was blown away.
Just bought a used 2013 Kia Soul Base & it works like a charm!! The engine is very quiet & powerful!! Pound for pound, this vehicle really gets me around & I really love it!!!

This car the 2013 soul [top of the line bought it 3 years ago it was salvaged. It is the best car I ever owned and my 1st was a 1955 ford so I have had many cars but this car is great on gas and very very quick.I love this car I'm a soul man!!! Handles great smooth ride and very quiet sometimes I think the car is off it is so quiet.
I JUST bought a 2013 Kia SOUL. This being 2020 it is 7 years old, BUT, it has 62,000 miles on it. and 1 owner, so, it is pretty good. Mine is the 2.0 engine, and it is the package that has some extras. NO Leather, BUT, it has the fancy lighting and a moonroof, a backup camera that DOES NOT WORK. I do NOT care about the "extras" much anyway, I am just happy that my CD player works.
It has a great amount of room in it, that is GREAT. MIne has NO "donut tire" or an extra tire, is THAT something that is NOT provided in a NEW Kia SOUL? I LOVE my car. MY family are all saying that since the car had shaken a SMALL bit when you apply the brakes going down a steep hill that the brakes are in need of fixing, I am thinking THAT is just the ABS (anti lock brakes) kicking in.
ANYONE have anything to add about what I have commented on?
So I just got the next year version and wow the difference is amazing. But I like looking and seeing the difference.
Great review!! I bought my 2013 about the same time here in TX. I went from a 2003 Mustang to the SOUL, because of my back. Getting in and out of the SOUL is SO much easier, and I discovered that almost all other economy cars were too hard to get in and out of. My wife has a 2009 Civic and I hit my knee cap on the lower side of the steering column, and I feel like I crawl to get out and I am only 5'6". I have the + model and it has a lot of extras...and it is MOLTEN Red.
The Eco causes it to shift earlier to get the better gas millage....turn it off
I just bought a used 2016 plus model and wow what a difference from this one! So far its a wonderful car. Oh, and my 2016 plus model has an 15 gal fuel tank, costs me about $55 to fill up.
@latricem2005: Thanks for your comment! Let me know if you get a Kia Soul! I was pretty harsh on the car for that hesitation issue, but once it reached 3,000 miles, its a lot peppier. I love this car so far!
hi joana i bought my 3rd brand new kia now i owe a soul i really love this car it is a car for every one i am very satisfied with it i am a kia guy i got hooked to kias the kia soul is dependable cute fun and inexpensive i really enjoy driving it go ahead and buy 1 u will be glad and love it
Hey Toby Stout, I tried turning the ECO button off but my 2013 Kia runs the same. I think I'm just getting used to a lower idling car (which I really like - its quiet) and to its shifting.
I HAVE A 2013 TOP MODEL]dam cap lock!!!] and it is the best car I ever owned it is super fast great on gas [hey that rhymes!]I have had it now since 2017 it was a salvage fixed up great!! no complaints!! I'm a SOUL MAN!!
What brand is the cellphone mount you use? Where did you get it? I like it and am looking for one to put in my new 2015 Kia Soul +. Absolutely love Kia Souls! Yours is nice! Love the white!

Ik I'm a little late but the gearing issue I have the same issue but I have a manual transmission sometimes it feels like there need to be a great between second and first cuz either I over rev in first or almost stall it out at second at a very specific speed

I have a new 2013 1.6L auto as well and the shifting is totally normal. You have to realize there are 6 speeds now and so it will shift often and even more so with the ECO on to keep it in a high gear even at low speeds. The days of the 4 speeds are gone. I had to get used to it also but now I don't mind it at all. I do keep the ECO off now though since I still get the exact same mileage with it off and has a tad more pep in town. I get 28 - 31mpg town and highway. Never more, never less. I'm totally happy with that still as all of my older cars got 20 - 22mpg. I've never had a car that I just love to get in and drive. It's just an all around fun car to even look at. When I get another car, it WILL be another Soul. The 2014 is really nice too but there are bugs they are working out being a new design and this 2013 is a proven design and it's been a top seller. You can't loose getting a 2013.
Thanks for your comments, Mikey. I agree. Once the hesitations subsided, this car is fantastic. It's snowing like crazy here in Missouri and this thing is a snowmobile! Gets around great in the snow! My next car will also be another Soul. I hate to say this, but I don't like the rear end of the 2014. Round reflectors? Really? The dash is cool though. Happy Soul-ing!

Cool review👍 My sister just bought her a 2012 silver base model Soul and she luvs it. I've driven it several times and i think this will be my next car since its fun to drive,easy on gas, and has good cargo space.👍

Thanks for the info about the phone mount. Wondering if you could possibly do an update on your vehicle now that you've had it for over a year? I think a follow-up video would be great, especially if you could answer some of the following questions in it...have you had any major mechanical problems/issues? How is the interior holding up-has anything inside broken? What's the biggest thing you've hauled in the cargo space? What's your MPG like now? Would you buy this car again? If you decide to do another video, please let me know. I will definitely watch it!
Angela Schmidt Angela, that's a really great idea. In the mean time, here's some answers: I have had no major mechanical problems or issues. I am having a problem with "rock chips" on the paint on the hood and I've had 3 rocks crack my windshield at different times. The interior is holding up fine other than my floormat which has a hole worn in it from the heel of my shoe! Nothing inside has broken. I haven't hauled one big thing but I have hauled a full cargo space full of junk taken to Goodwill! MPG is barely 35 on the highway. I'm unsure if I would buy this one again.
databits Thanks for all the answers! Glad the car is holding up well. Sorry to hear about the windshield cracks. Your floormat experience sounds similar to mine in my previous vehicle, which was a 2008 VW Rabbit. I was so hard on the all weather mat that I ended up ripping the thing in half. Oddly, I'm not as hard on non-rubber floormats so hopefully the ones that came in my Soul will last. Easy to replace if they don't, though. I get a consistent 27MPG with mixed driving, and it bumps up to 29MPG on the highway. I tend to speed about 10MPH over the limit, though. I think the gas tank is a little bigger on the newer model Souls, but I don't know what year that change was made. I can get about 310 miles out of mine before my gas warning light turns on, and I'm pretty satisfied with it. Looking forward to your video update...if you do one!

Yeah the car downshifts at slow speeds even if you just going down hill. I just put it on neutral when I'm showing down
Its because who ever had it before you try to use the slab shift and did not know what they were doing
I actually have the same exact car as you but the color is more of a creamy white. but I love it. it's NY first car. I don't think I want a better car than this
databits did you ask the dealer to put nitrogen in this is on my list of new vihicle options in additon to the rio 5 in the kia line up!! There are others on my list but from what you said I really like the soul but would prefer better gas millage!! So I was wondering whether you asked the dealer to put nitrogen in the tiers !!
Thabie Melvin - I did not ask the dealer to put the Nitrogen in, I used a tire and auto repair place for that.

I am unsure I want to save about $1000 getting a 6 speed manual, because I really like to drive a manual. I cannot recall seeing active Eco on the auto ones I was just in?I hear some people get better MPGs in the manual?

id like to know how your driving that your getting 35+ MPG. bought mine in nov 2012 in that time i have drove 34k miles best I got was a trip to boston hit 35mpg cause I rode at 60mph at 2.5k rpm for hours. other than that right at 30mpg. base model and mine came with the nitro in the tires already. im switching to air when I replace my tires. benefit is not great enough, might be 1mpg if that. if I was racing I would use nitrogen all day. when I bought mine it was before they found the mistake in the MPG so sticker said 7 more mpg than what it really gets as reflected on your sticker.
So basically I had my Kia retrofitted like a Flintstones car. Occasionally I lift it up and move it with my legs which saves a lot of gas! Haha. I don't have a real answer for you. When I hit the highway I reset the MPG meter and when I arrive at work 50 minutes later, it typically reads 35 to 37 mpg average. Sometimes 38!
oh well yea doing that you will get incorrect numbers. as that is only for that lil trip. the meter is only meant ot be reset after using a whole tank and filling it back up. tho if you run your tank to empty and fill it back up it resets it self really. been doing this since I got the car and if I only reset with fill ups I can get 34mpg tops.
I really need a new car that will fit how I look now! I'm driving a 2000 ford ranger and this sits about at the same height.
