This was exceptional! You're a very talented filmmaker and every part of the production worked. The match cuts between fantasy and reality were very effective, as was your use of color and saturation. I particularly liked the subtle shift to color and rising siren sound effect at around 8:20. Incredible! Also, not sure where you found your actors, but they have to do a lot of heavy lifting, and they're really good. The climatic exchange near the end is really well executed. That close up as he says, "You need to let me go", followed by his slight shift in gaze to the ground. I imagine this actor is only a teenager, but he carried himself very effectively throughout the film, but that scene in particular. I really loved this. Great work! I'd love to see more.
Hey thanks for the kind words! This was really only a two man production with myself and my friend being the actors. and we both wrote & directed the film!
@@DirectorsJourney That's incredible! I never would have expected the crew was that small. I mean, just the lighting in moments like 04:54 when the main character enters the room, and there's that subtle highlight of yellow on his face. A shot like that probably took a lot of time and a lot of prep (especially since it was only a two man crew), but it was totally worth it. A lot of my high school students have to make their short films with groups of four or less out of necessity. I'll be sure to show this short as an example of what can be done with practically no crew.
Really emotional. This is reminded me of my dad who passed away 1,5 years ago. Everything gets colored with sadness since he was gone. There's not a day that goes by, without me thinking of him. Thank you for making this marterpiece 🤍💙🫶🏻
Coming from reddit. Glad you found your motivation again because you did an amazing job! Edit: This is one of the best short films I've ever seen and this is your first film. Just wow!
What a sad and poignant film. Great work.
