The island used resources from evolved. The way scorched earth could play may feel a bit different and more versatile using ALL of what ue5 has to offer

@@Finn-r6ddeserts aren’t always sand dunes and spice, there are deserts with plenty of foliage that are still considered deserts like the main deserts in scorched. Take the hot lands of Arizona or Nevada in the USA. They look similar and the sand dunes are still dunesy.

In my opinion one of the best parts about the remake is that the “River” that bisects the map is a proper body of water now and not just random puddles. Adds so much character to the surrounding area. 7:04

Helldivers 2 maps look better sometimes, and they are literally procedural, with one single biome, without any decoration besides bases and players objectives… and they feel better… and have less bugs… and is lore enjoyable… and a little bit cheaper… why should I buy this? Like they even destroyed some of the original artwork, it could be better…

I kinda like the ASE map more tbh. While all the graphical upgrade are great it make the map look more soft and inviting compared to the hot, dry, deadly, landscape of ASE. then more trees around the one ob looks silly. Scorched earth was the reason I got into ark and still is my favorite map Crystal isle is a close second. I would love to play but I dont think my laptop can handle it even though I have a really high end one. And I aint got the room to do so either. but it still looks great.
The only good thing about ASA is a little bit better textures and that's it. They should put more work in optimalization instead focusing on something not many people can even run on medium settings
I started getting very into Ark Evolved just a few days after Scorched came out. I bought the game before that, before the redwoods and volcano on the island, but it wasn't a game I really got into until The Gaming Beaver reviewed Scorched Earth. I'm super excited to check out this new version.
I have said it a few times already but the remake man.... it feels so much more alive and colourful. It also feels bigger and they have added ao much extra with this map to so i am so excited for the other maps 😀 😄.
honestly ASE was a better "hot desert" kinda map, sunglare and other effects really made it look hot... now you can literally be at 70°C and you won't even notice visual differences with a 20°C zone
SE was already one of my favourite maps because I love desert and arid environments, but this updated version of the map has really impressed me so far. I've been having a lot of fun playing on the map, and not a single crash to date after playing for hours. I've already got about a dozen sabers since every cat I seem to encounter has about 2 babies with it haha. Still on the fence about whether I'll invest in the frontier items since it's a lot more expensive than what I'd want to pay, but if the quality is the same as the rest of the content on this map I might be able to be convinced yet

I know that im propebly in the minority, but I feel that a lot of SE's vibe is missing from the ASA version, like no heat waves? all the dried up riverbeds are now a giant river? the obilisks used to be that main area oasis but now the whole middle of the map is one giant Oasis? and wth where those lighting effects on the ground during the thunder storm?
Started playing this today. I could hear a jerboa nearby but it took almost 10 minutes to actually find it. Ground cover is nuts anywhere near the water. The river bed has FAR more water than before and noticeably less kaprosuchus swarming in every puddle. Seeing far less animals in general, the babies are definitely srill eating up the dino count
i gotta be honest, i bought the full asa package, but by the time all the console commands are used, asa isn't much more than ase. (running a 2060ti. (ase would run on my old 750ti )) i have to turn off this and that to get a descent framerate which makes it very similar visualy to ase. but i still love it. superb video btw

the oasisaur being a 30 euros paid creature, and now when your dino dies you get an item that tells you can revive it on a oasisaur is crazy. I didnt expect they would make the game wosre like that, being such a good game

they nailed scorched so well. aberration tho, thats gonna be hard to make better. and also make it good enough so that people's pcs dont explode upon trying to run it
Even though models and textures are clearly superior, I feel like ASE is a bit more coherent, and has an overall better art direction. Even looking at the world scar, it just looks so much better in ASE.
They did a fantastic job, but... Im going to say it... the color palette feels a little off, darker in tone than ASE and I personally find the lack of "heat shimmer" a disappointment. I loved that detail in ASE. But those points aside, it does look AMAZING.
3:25 looked so much better in ase, the lava flowed in the right direction and looked solid, now it looks flat and the lighting is just a boring directionnal light that's probably the same over the entirety of the map, no more lava glow on the walls, 3:49 looked better in my opinion, maybe it's just the angle of the sun isn't the same but i don't know, it looks so dark now, and 4:46 they removed Petra, they removed the cool temple to put some boring stone walls instead, even 4:30, okay the cave looks much better in ASA but in Ase you can clearly see the lighting was only a small opening in the ceiling lighting the way you are supposed to go, now it feels like you are not even in a cave anymore and everything is lit up the same. I can't be the only one to see these ? Obviously, overall it looks better but i'm a bit disappointed in them not respecting the original details of the map.
I always had a soft spot for scorched earth as even though it was a rather bland map. It had some fun things about it. The step up in difficulty from the island is a nice change of pace and the unique survival mechanics at play such as extreme weather and there really being no safe areas to get started in added to the challenge. Aberration is perfect in my opinion but scorched earth was still a good contender.
Finally they removed those ugly black rocks that stick out of the landscape. It feels very smooth but also captures that wasteland feeling perfectly. Love it
this makes me wish i had ASA, i never was able to progress that far in any of the original ark maps and i kinda gave up after my friends stopped playing. unfortunately, i dont have enough money and idk if my pc would be able to run it, specifically my graphics card (GTX 1660)
The Rocks at 1:40 look worse to me than before. If you go closer there is also a very repeating texture on them. Feels like they didn't had time for them anymore. Also there was a bit more variation in colors with the dark rocks before, which I liked more. Some of the ruins also didn't got us much detail as on the island, especially the building you enter to the roof to get to the cave. This one looks like me trying to build in minecraft :D Otherwise a good improvement!
Looks stunning, truly amazing, just a shame for anyone playing on a series S console , with pixilated shadows that cant be turned off and noise in the new visual effects its very janky, to the point ASE actually looks better, unless you got a nasa pc!

The lighting and foliage changes made this map alot nicer, everything used to be overbrite sandwashed, now its much more pleasing visually.
1:41 ASE looks like the map is never-ending, while ASA has an obvious cutoff.

The Rocks at 1:40 look worse to me than before. If you go closer there is also a very repeating texture on them. Feels like they didn't had time for them anymore. Also there was a bit more variation in colors with the dark rocks before, which I liked more. Some of the ruins also didn't got us much detail as on the island, especially the building you enter to the roof to get to the cave. This one looks like me trying to build in minecraft :D Otherwise a good improvement!
Looks stunning, truly amazing, just a shame for anyone playing on a series S console , with pixilated shadows that cant be turned off and noise in the new visual effects its very janky, to the point ASE actually looks better, unless you got a nasa pc!
