I'm going to try and do these every other day after my other workouts and really see if I can master them. I'm like 7 or 8 inches off the ground right now. Cant wait to see what happens! ❤
One of the really interesting progressions I've seen is that I PREFER now to sink into splits having done the PNF "no-hands hover" posture beforehand. It was amazing to see just how little strength I actually had when I started doing these drills and began taking my hands off the blocks. I was very wobbly and just straining to stay upright. Now, as strength grows, I feel MUCH SAFER having done the "no hands hover" before sinking into splits. Thanks, Kate! Such helpful content!
A week or two ago, after years of consistent yoga practice (and the past 3,5 years of those daily) I finally realized that I WILL be able to do splits one day. I just stopped progressing in my practice overall because I kept doing beginners/intermediate classes telling myself the advanced ones are just too tiring or difficult or annoying (when I can't do all of the poses). I decided to let this inner critic go away for a while and just try something new. Your channel is IT for me!! I can't begin to describe the feelings you brought for me. I've advanced SO MUCH with just a few of your classes and I'm absolutely in love with your style of teaching. This class was so crucial - I'm so low into the splits on one side I couldn't squeeze a block between my leg and the floor!!!!!!!! This is so huge for me!!!!!! Ah, thank you so much Kate, you have no idea how much this means to me
Congrats ! I was in the same situation just months ago and finally got my splits thanks to Kate and her amazing channel and consistent work ! Congrats on your progression, I am so happy for you !!!!
Even though I've been doing yoga for 10 years I've never felt that the splits were accessible to me, but now I realise I just needed the right teacher. During this class I discovered that I can pretty much do the splits on my right side, and I'm not far off on my left. Thank you so much Kate. A new world has been opened up to me. Namaste 🙏
I have been trying at my splits for years, and I haven't been as consistent as I have wanted, but doing this class for literally only TWO DAYS I have seen more progress than I have in years. Thank you so much
Dear Kate, This Yoga class is truly magical. I managed to reach the two splits well, despite the painful contracture in my left hamstring. During the PNF stretching portion I was amazed at how much strength I gained in my legs by regularly following your lessons. I will also repeat this practice several times because I have to. being able to stand in the two splits with even more ease than I feel now. It's always more fun to practice yoga with you Thank you so much 🙏 Namaste
Thank you Kate for this great class. Finally, a simple but effective set of steps to practice splits. May Hanuman inspire all of us in this journey 🙏🌟🕉️☮️💙
I’ve had my splits (uncomfortably) for a while. Decided to start doing this everyday or at least 4 times a week so I that feel comfortable in splits. That pnf is a killer! Love it ❤
Wow, yesterday I ordered my yoga blocks with the propuse of doing this routine, it looks super pro and challenging. Haven't found another follow along PNF rutine for the splits, this is unique. I was stuck because all the routines out there are for begginers. I've been doing other of your flexibility routines and you really know your thing. Yesterday I was feeling really sad and hopeless, I have a tendency towards depression and cloudy days and winter make me super vulnerable. I put on one of your rutines and I ended it feeling a great mood, so I did another two! The breathing instructions to relax during it add a meditation plus to this follow along rutines. Today when my yoga blocks arrive I'll be practising this. Also your prosody is really comforting.
Back again and, as with all things yoga, there is a difference on each side this morning. More even, but not as deep. I'm going to revisit this class every morning for a couple of weeks and see what I discover. Thanks again (& as always) Kate. Namaste 🙏
Awesome video! I'm a beginner in yoga. Therefore, I had more difficult in some poses in yoga and I don't have more flexibility in my legs, also. However, I'm into it this video and makes me feel more power in my whole body. Thanks!😊
That was soooo good, I'm still far from the ground but I see improvment, I will try to do this 2 Times per week at least, hope one day I will be able to do front split that's my goal for so long 😢❤
Hi Kate! For us trying to get our splits, should we do it every day? Or have rest days? Also, your channel is BY FAR the best channel for flexibility and splits on youtube!! Thank you for leading us!!
I really appreciate you saying that! I want to get MORE flexibility content up but sometimes the shorter 10 min "easy stretch" classes are what people want. As for the splits, if you're going intense, do 3 times a week unless your body is sore. If you are going aggressively, train your glutes and hamstrings with weight or body weight to stability the flexibility - otherwise you may get injured (this is really important don't skip this pls pls!) If you're just sliding into splits easy and playing around or hanging out in them (like me) you can do them daily. This is the slow burn progression. Remember, overall it's better to practice 5 mins a day 6-7 days a week, then 1 hour once a week. :) Does this help?
@KateAmberYoga This is very helpful!! Then in light of what you said...Would you say then that a good plan is if I'm following your more intense splits videos on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I could at the same time do more of your strength training videos for glutes and hamstrings on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday? That way I'm balancing out the flexibility and strength? Or alternatively...Just follow along on your beginner playlists and work up to the intermediate ones everyday? :) Note - I really appreciate you taking the time to respond to to me on this! I never realized that when doing this stuff, ya gotta be real careful.
Thank you. I think I'll need to come back to this one a lot. My legs got a great stretch. Pigeon today highlighted a block in my hips. I was basically sitting on my heel to take the pressure off my knee.
Wow, love this practice! I especially appreciate the opportunity to flow through splits several times instead of just once. And, of course, LIZARD-PYRAMID TRANSITION, YAH! 😆😆😆 thank you, Kate! Your videos are REALLY USEFUL! 🥰🥰🥰 Namaste!
This feels great, thank you. One question; when I am in the splits pose with my right leg backwards the knee in that leg hurts. What could be the cause of this and how can I prevent it? Left knee is totally fine in the same pose.
A splits class is always perfect for working deep into the hips. The PNF work was humbling so gotta try to incorporate that more into my practice. Ended with floor bow coz just felt like it.
Kate help me , I have my splits on the left side since two month, but my right side makes me go crazy, there are always at least two inch I need, please help me!!!!you're awesome, have made a lot of progress with you!!
hello i’d like to ask you smth i started doing split stretches daily for 2 months and i haven’t seen any progress and i stopped and i started doing stretches again do you think by any chance i can get into splits?
It sounds like you're being consistent so it makes me think it's either your technique or your skeletal variation. When you try spills drills classes like this that incorporate strength, not just passive stretching - do you see a difference even a little? It could be with your skeletal variation that your hips sit in a way that splits may not be available to you. And that's totally fine and 100% normal! I would try finding dynamic classes like this this being VERY consistent before writing off to skeletal variation. Did the PNF part help?
If you're a beginner, I would just start with hip opening classes, not necessarily splits classes. My split classes tend to be more intense! But if you like that then you may like this class: th-cam.com/video/pj47r47Wc4Y/w-d-xo.htmlsi=n5m6O241KfbSEfdA

Did you see progress in your splits? Tell me here!
I'm going to try and do these every other day after my other workouts and really see if I can master them. I'm like 7 or 8 inches off the ground right now. Cant wait to see what happens! ❤
super sexi pose splits
your classes have brought me closer to my splits than 10 years of ballet did! Thank you
Wow, after a tricky injury I thought splits was something I had to say goodbye to, but this class is fantastic! Love your approach

That's okay! Our knees are so important so when they talk, we listen. Perhaps try a block under your hips if that's a reoccuring sensation.
This class looks challenging
Thanks!
