Another tip - if you're planning on going on a long journey, charred bread actually lasts longer without spoiling than normal cooked bread! It is, of course, less nutritious, but charred bread actually has a use! Also, you should be collecting that saltpeter you find in caves! It's a valuable fertilizer! Also, re: climactic variation - Vintage Story's world gen doesn't work like Minecraft, there aren't discrete "biomes", rather there are regional variations in rainfall and temperature which affect the landscape. You have to go pretty far south before stuff gets notably warmer.
ladders are a must have for cave explorinf, huge time saver i like to dump chests near translocators and cave entries so i can transfer loot more effectively. love this series
This series is one of the few that gives me that same feeling of joy and mystery i got watching Minecraft playthroughs as a kid, absolutely immaculate work.
also, have you seen dave yet? if not, spoiler on how to find him: set your render distance to at least 400 and look at the horizon while a temporal storm is going on!
For armour you have a flat reduction in HP and then a further reduction that is the percentage that is taken off of the remaining damage over the flat reduction
when ever you find a translocater you should PIN IT on the map so you know in what direction from base it is. use different colors so as to not confuse yourself.
Speed is not everything tho, especially for something like a helvehammer. What he did there is increase torque by decreasing resistance to turn the axle, wich is slower true but, it gives more raw power than having a super fast small wheel. And by going from small to big to small again you essentially did nothing since the ratio is the same at the end so might as well leave out the big gear
A good note, when using armor your bandages become progressively less effective, if you're safe take a moment to take it off and bandage more effectively. Also make sure to go back to that cave where the owl chest was, it has a aged bed that is the best one in the game
the opening scared me more then when i lost my mom at walmart in isle 13 and never found her again. Please dont scare us like this. I dont want to relive my childhood trauma
Animals despawn without enough access to the sky/natural light, and I'm pretty sure the threshold is cave-darkness. Checking if the pen is dark as a torchless cave might prevent a headache. Learning the hard way on Vintage Story can be pretty annoying, so hopefully I'm not being too much of a Tinker Bell with these comments 😩
I could be wrong, I remember animals vanishing from the dark holding area of my pitfall and I didn't even have artificial lighting down there, so torches/lamps might be all they need.
Yes, torches or lanterns can provide despawn. Same as sunlight. So you definitely need some light of any kind to keep your animals where you want them to be 😊👍
Little hint for preserved meals: bread isn't the only thing you can make in your clay ovens. Try it with berries 😏especially with cranberries 😊those last longest😊and please don't break any wild beehives anymore. It broke my heart to see them gone forever. Bees are so useful 😍look up the skelp, then you understand 😊😘and your armor looks great😁👍👍but be aware of the bigger amount of food you need while wearing it 😊
When you took that second translocator, I was kind of hoping it would take you to a more tropical area near the equator :D You should definitely take a visit there at some point. Edit: While I'm talking about exploring, keep a lookout for a treasure hunter trader, he might have something really interesting for you
for long journeys where I'm planning on being away from my home for a long time, I like taking ingredients that stay fresh for a decently long time with me (things like apples, grains etc) as well as a lit torch, a cooking pot, a bowl, and a crock so I can whip up meals on the go. if I'm not going far enough to justify that, a crock full of food and a bowl suffice. one thing i wish the game had for transportation is horses and wagons
"do it over and over until you cant no more" going on 2 years in my solo world and im already done making pies. I just really dont wanna bother no more.
Yes, the recent update reworked ruins; they're a lot messier and have more loot, especially underground. I'm a bit torn on the change; I appreciate the variety, and the loot, but I don't like the look of the ragged blocks and rubble they have now. That gravelly area you were in isn't officially a desert. The game does have official deserts; they only occur in equitoral areas, so you will need to go much further south, and they have some unique flora (cactuses) and resources (alum). They also have a fair number of cow skulls, for the people who enjoy decorating with those.
From a reality standpoint, that gravelly area is a cold desert, but yeah, you won't find any stuff there that you can't find in heath-like areas. "Cold deserts" should be getting some diversity in the future, they are really bland. Maybe some cold hardy succulents in the non-polar or boreal regions.
Now I see why they call wolf meat 'bush'meat. I didn't see the wolf until I went back and yip, there was a wolf head sticking out of the bush. hehehe One way to get gems is panning boney soil. They are low quality but it is a great way to get gears. I do think prospecting shows if gems might be in the area. Diamonds are in kimberlite stone I think. handbook should show what stone they spawn in.
Veryyy good to know about the gems, I might do some panning when the snow clears up this year! And yeah the wolves love hiding near the water in the bushes lol
I think I saw a shield on your inventory. Be sure to place light somewhere and equip a shield on your offhand for extra defense. It makes a world of difference, specially if you sneak/crouch, because that means the shield is active. (sneak = actual blocking, standing up = passive blocking, still better than no shield)
thank you for the video. i will admit i was discouraged when i found how much work it was to make the armors. fortunately i persisted and my bronze chain has served me well
Hey man, just a tip when you’re making chain mail you can use a helve hammer to automate plates and then you just have to punch a few holes in the plate and it makes chain mail takes literally 30 seconds.
"You're slowing down industry. 🗿 You're slowing down progress. 🗿 Get off my ladder. 🗿"
For real, can't have that when automation is on the horizon!
bro had us in the first half, not gonna lie
Genuinely worried for a second there

I love how the biomes work, I'll have to char some bread and go on a giant adventure soon!
There are crops and plants that only spawn at certain latitudes, and some are really useful (like soybeans and bamboo)!@@TimmyTwoNipples

love this series
Used some ladders in my new episode, it made a world of difference, thank you!
This series is one of the few that gives me that same feeling of joy and mystery i got watching Minecraft playthroughs as a kid, absolutely immaculate work.
That means a lot! Thank you so much :)
also, have you seen dave yet? if not, spoiler on how to find him: set your render distance to at least 400 and look at the horizon while a temporal storm is going on!
I shall search for Dave next storm! :)

Helve hammer can make iron plates automatically, and its so much easier to craft armor from plates.
0 chance I'm crafting chain armour without a helve hammer. It takes so long even with the helve hammer
@@parrotw3367, i made myself fully repaired Blackguard armor in my world. Cant imagine the process without helve hammer...
Very excited to be able to repair and make armour a bit easier now! :)
when ever you find a translocater you should PIN IT on the map so you know in what direction from base it is. use different colors so as to not confuse yourself.
I have them numbered but I might do the colour thing as well, definitely starting to get visually confusing lol
Btw when you connect a small gear to a large gear it slows down, but you can speed it up again by doing the opposite.

I will definitely be going back for that!
@8:16 The pits come for us all, friend.
We cannot escape the embrace of the pit
Oh thank Goodness!
you made me worried in the first bit of the vid ngl but it was a good vid cant wait for the next one
the opening scared me more then when i lost my mom at walmart in isle 13 and never found her again. Please dont scare us like this. I dont want to relive my childhood trauma
Apologies, I'll take this tragic tale into consideration upon my future uploads!

Yes, torches or lanterns can provide despawn. Same as sunlight. So you definitely need some light of any kind to keep your animals where you want them to be 😊👍
Very good to know! I might have to cut some holes in the longhouse roof or just move them outside at some point lol

I'll definitely try all of these things! And of course I will treat bees with the respect they deserve going forward! Lol

I'll keep an eye out for more translocators and treasure traders! :)
Just wanted to say I absolutely love your vintage story playthrough, keep up the great work 🙏
Can’t wait for another episode 😅
All dripped out in that fancy armor! You nearly gave me a heart attack with that intro

I know I always see the wagon wheels and wonder if they're planning something like that! :)

Had me in the first thirty seconds, not gonna lie
You are playing as a Blackguard, and Blackguards deal more damage in melee combat, but they are worse in ranged combat.
Very very bad at ranged combat lol I can't hit a boat 2 feet in front of me sometimes
Haha, the intro made me smile! Strut on that runway, Seraphim Timmy! Anyway, I hope you get to see Dave soon! just a cool lil fella
Lmao thank you, I was working that armour! I'll keep an eye out for Dave! :)

Yeah I need to just bring a ton of torches when ingo into the caves and do this tactic!
thank you for the video. i will admit i was discouraged when i found how much work it was to make the armors. fortunately i persisted and my bronze chain has served me well
It definitely makes a huge difference when you absolutely NEED to survive a situation lol

One way I know you can find gems is by sifting through boney soil.
wait till he sets up a helve hammer and sees how much time he could've saved making those chains ;D
I cannot believe how much time I wasted.. lmao
I love your content, started watching you today and I'm all in
Thank you! I'm glad you're here :)
have you thought about having some longer videos, where you just build or decorate or something like that?
I would agree a timmy two builds in vintage story sounds good. The broch would have fit in very well with the iron age vibe
I might do a stream for this at some point, still not very confident with the streaming but I want to give it a go! :)
My buddy I play with will only use the recurve bow and I hate it. Longbow all the way for me
Something about the longbow (even the animation) is so much more fun to me lol
i believe your sheep will need access to sky to not despawn
@ 8:14 ay neat that’s my birthday.
Almost time to celebrate! 🥂
Do you have the metal reclamation mod? that mod is something i can't live without.
I think I might do a multiplayer playthrough at some point and add mods so this is on the list :)
@@TimmyTwoNipples It's a json mod, so what is cool about it is that updates don't break it.
I would love to join you for a snowball earth coop lets play
I had to search up snowball earth, that's a crazy way to play! Very interesting..
STOP, You scared us so BADLY for god's sake !
i love this game but i genuinely don't like any of the lore. the bears & wolves are enough 😂
I like how it doesn't force the lore at you so you can play it as a post apocalyptic clue hunt or just an intense wilderness survival game lol
Fucking click bait
