But 2-3 weeks ago I brought the bike back at my dealership to resolve that and they said that husqvarna released a firmware update for the control unit and from that moment I can confirm that it never happened again, so you must have ridden a bike with an old firmware and now it's resolved

Great review! I bought my 2024 Svartpilen 401 in june, have ridden 2300 km. Never stalled on me! I downgraded from a 2017 Triumph Speed Triple R, lost interest in riding fast, getting old I guess 😆 Anyhow, this little bike is so much fun, I think its like 75% street and 25% "off road", I ride it on dirt roads all the time, no serious off roading of course. I dont think it feels like a small bike, except for the obvious less hp and top speed. It's actually bigger than my Speed Triple was but 50 kg lighter!
yep, there are some touches that look better (few) but the frame, frame design (asymmetric) heat protection plate before the exhaust, wire-way under frame... Just give me a new dash for the old one, and I'm OK :P also it is not tubeless, and so few technical accessories compared to the old one...
Still love my 2021 svartpilen, only thing I dislike is the seat, very uncomfortable, had to buy some cushions. The stalling is a sensor, these bikes aren't built to the highest standard, mine had a bunch of problems when I bought it new, but after a year of repairs, it works just fine
My 2022 Svartpilen 401 also used to stall rolling up to a junction. A known, and much discussed, issue with that bike - I'm surprised it still exists in the revamped one. Blip of the throttle as you come to a stop prevents it.
Thanks for the nice review! I have now ridden mine for 1000km and never had the stolling issues you describe. But I was having a hard time finding neutral when stopped. That disappeared after the oil change at the 1000km service, so all good now :) very fun to ride and agile but make sure to keep the revs above 3000 to keep the engine spinning and happy ;)
Heh. In the first 4000km I didnt have issues with stalling but since that mark, bike would somewhat often stall in second gear and while it is cold. I will soon be going for second service at 6k km and I hope they can fix the issue.
I've got a Tracer 9 and a BMW G310R as a 2nd bike. Is great having a small bike as well for shorter rides, country lanes, traffic, and thrashing on B roads. However it's a bit embarrassing going to bike meets on such a physically small bike, so I'm trying out the CL500 and the Guerilla 450 for a PX as they look more like a grown up bike!
I like it over other bikes , took the speed 400 out as a curtesy bike this week , front brake was useless never thought I was going to stop+ the bike was too small for me . This one looks great and it vibrates at certain speeds ( all bikes do 😜) it’s part of there character 😊👍👍

I wonder if the low speed stalling is an emissions thing. I think the Honda CRF 450rl has that same issue and most people get an aftermarket ECU to solve it
Based on the KTM 390 series I think the Vit/Svart lineup was a missed chance. Using the already available 390 adventure, 390 and RC 390 chassis and suspension with the current design language they could have made a more capable scrambler, naked bike and cafe racer.
Thats stalling will kill someone one day. Mine left me in the middle of a roundabout hitting the start button to get it going again before getting hit. Loved the rest of the bike but dangerous and avoidable stalling issues.
How is this bike a mid level naked? The Svartpilen 801 wouldn't be called a heavyweight. I'm sure most people would call the 801 a mid as they did with the 701 as a competitor to a Yamaha MT07 and Suzuki SV650 and the like.
could it be in regards that 401 can be ridden on A2 license? I Norway we call A1 license "light motorcycles", A2 license "middle weight" and A license "heavy motorcycle". Not regarding the kg or pounds, but amount of hp or kW.
Well, I am quite sad about the stalling problem. I will have a test ride in two weeks. I really planned to change my VTR250 to this one but if the engine is garbage (and a tendency to easily stall is a trigger to call it that way) then I would have a bike which I want to sell after a few in-traffic killer jokes but nobody wants to buy because it is known for having engine issues.
I had a 2021 401 what a great little bike but I’m just too big / fat Lol. Not for anyone over 185 lbs. SV650 ABS now much better. Simple is best on naked bikes
Had honestly been hoping for more from this bike, especially considering the updates to the 390 Duke. A bit of a letdown, honestly. Not terribly so, but just not the step forward I wanted from the first iteration.
The big flaw is the tube tires, they deflate easily and are a pain to fix. If it had got alloy rims or tubeless spoked rims as an accessory, then I'd buy it. I know adding tubeless spoked rims increases the price, but as a safety factor I want no compromises cause tube tires deflate instantly and there is a safety problem while you are braking, and will crash on any obstacles despite having abs on. Why should I live with tube tires?
Is there a bike there that looks like this one but has torque at low rpm? I feel like that on a bike like this I'd rather calmly cruse around to work than keep it at hight rpm. Hearing your comments about how it's prone to stalling is a bit concerning.
Some may like the first gen more but the new one is a better bike. I own a 2022 Vitpilen 401 and have not had the cutting out problem but others have. There is no talk about soft camshafts on the 401s. I've had zero problems with my Vitpilen. Am I going to get the new 401? No, I like what I have just fine, love the clip ons. There are great deals on leftover 2023 401s.
I also have the ‘22 Vit. I love the addition of adjustable shock and quickshifter but prefer the OG 2018 look more. That said the only thing I miss out of the ‘22 Vit is a front shock preload (more cost I’d imagine) and an off option for the quickshifter (should be cost free to Husq) as it interferes with manual clutch less shifts which I love to do.
