These kinds of comments are unwarranted. Kimbers are actually on the budget end of 1911's in terms of price. Springfield makes 1911's for around the same cost that don't have nearly the same number of reported issues. I have one Kimber that has been 100%, but there's some good reason for the hate they get. Also, as I said in another comment, the Rapide sells for like $1600. You are approaching Dan Wesson territory for that price, which is far, far superior. We don't hate on Kimber because "we can't afford it", trust me.
@Daniel Dotter do you work for Dan wesson? Why is Dan wesson superior? Can you elaborate? Also, you own a kimber lol, why did buy a kimber? Could have used your money and used it for a Dan Wesson. 😆
Great video, thanks for sharing. Did my 1st pre-range cleaning yesterday in prep for shooting my .45 for the first time today. Thanks for the tip on the "idiot scratch" and cool t-shirt!
@@HiRevzMedia I worked for them a short time. Kimbers issues are not because people “can’t afford them”. While there I have came back from my off day to find parts rusted, I have had to pull parts off the line because they were rusting before installing, guns getting incorrect parts (mainly recoil springs), parts with incorrect tolerances get put in guns, a lot of part breakage, guns get sent out with known cosmetic defects simply to make an order (k6 royals with tool marks in the top strap for example). Kimber has a LOTTTT of issues. That said I do still want them to succeed but their reputation is well earned Oh and the rusted parts would just get refinished and sent back to install on a gun instead of being like why do we have rust issues. They said it was something to do with our air or something like that
For the price of the Rapide, you should spend another $100 and buy a Dan Wesson. Kimber doesn't even come remotely close to what Dan Wesson puts out. Nothing wrong with Kimber, I have one, but my DW is miles better. A DW is about twice the price of a Kimber Custom II, but it's only $100 or so more than the Rapide. Granted, the Rapide is nice looking, but with DW you get a semi-custom, hand fitted 1911. Kimbers are fine 1911's for the price, but for what they are charging for the Rapide, you are approaching a different category all together (which Kimber does not compete well in).
I bought this gun new less than a year ago and I took it down before I fired it. And it was clean. No sign of powder or that it was ever shot before. I think yours was used.

I got the Stainless Custom II in 9mm, it was full of yellow dirt when it arrived. I did a detailed tear down clean and lube. Have not fired yet, weather here turned to sh*t.

I looked at a Dan Wesson Valor and a Silverback..I ended up getting the Rapide Dawn in 9mm since i got it for $1355 brand new out the door...Dan Wesson does make fine 1911s but this particular gun is aesthetically brilliant..200 rds and no malfunction yet
Wife just got a Micro Eclipse, and for all that money, it came in a padded nylon pouch and one mag, (and the extra mag was $41). I love the piece, but wtf??
Yeah plastic case and foam insert are non issues. Who cares? Give me cardboard like S&W! But one mag is total BS so I agree there. Should be at least two. And a gun that doesn’t need a 500 round break in! Seriously Kimber?
I was thinking the same thing. For a gun review at least grip it right, and even for the other, control that recoil. For a pistol this large and weight the gun looks like it is flopping all over the place for a 9 mm. Definitely not gun shooters by any means.
It is beautiful. That is where it stopped for me. I have 5 1911’s and my $800 springfield has a significantly better trigger. This $1700 gun has the same sear and hammer as my $900 entry level kimber. I bought 2 kimbers. And I can honestly say I will never purchase another. I haven’t even fired it yet and once you take it apart you can see they go cheap where most morons don’t know to look. Way too much money for the crap they produce.
@Max Larson the old Kimbers were awesome, the new kimber quality control is crap. You don’t have to believe me lol. Go buy whatever gun you want. I’m just saying that my opinion is they are crap for what they cost.
Everyone says how great Kimber's fit & finish is but the first thing I noticed on this gun was the HUGE gap between the front sight blade and the top of the slide. 🤨
Kimber doesn’t make the sights. Those are from Tru-Glo and they are universal fit. I’m not sure how much Kimber could do to those and still fit the dovetail.
@@RSI24 because to have it in 45 ACP or 10mm is a better choice. I would’ve gotten it in 45 personally. A 9mm makes it no difference than a Glock made of metal.
YOU RIGHT KIMBER RAPIDE DAWN ONE OF THE BEST 1911 ALOT OF PEOPLE JUST UPSET CAUSE THEY CANT AFFORD IT OR JUST DONT LIKE IT

Damnnn....what a gorgeous piece..just wish they weren't $1700...give/take...but they are a work of art. Would be even better as a double stacked
Man what a pretty 1911! I’m glad it ran smoothly, I been on the fence about picking up a kimber because of all the mixed reviews
Most people that hate on Kimber’s can’t afford one.

I have the dusk, extremely happy with it, love the coloring and burnt bronze barrel
Kimber needs to give a option on sights. I had a adjustable installed to allow for my eyes and different bullets.
I’m gonna get it thanks great video 💯

Thanks!
Every gun gets tested after assembly before it's up for sale. In Kimber they shoot at least a round. That's why you see some carbon there
Love me some Kimber! Ty for the video bud, this may be my next purchase after I buy the Glock 21 .45. I love .45
I love .45 also, I used to be a die hard Colt .45 1911 guy, but this gun changed me.
Love Kimber they make some of the nicest looking pistols 🔥
Yes they do
My first 1911 is the Rapide and it has a idiot scratch, I think it give the Rapide character.

Kimber is the best quality

Only place I can find them for sale is gun broker.
Just noticed you’re in Gainesville? I’m in Cumming.
If you want to sell that thing I call dibs!
Check out Georgia Gun Store in Gainesville. Tell Kellie and Mike that Jordan sent you.

I just picked mine up from the local bass pro shop. ( auburn NY. ). And it was less than the MSRP

Les Baer 1911
Dawn better then Rapide Black ice? Asking from Germany :-D
Yes, I’ve believe so, but it’s really just a color preference.
why can't Germans own pistols?
Comes with 1 single mag and a flimsy box with generic non fitted foam insert. I expect better for a $1600.00 gun purchase.
