    ABOUT US
    Hi! We are high school sweethearts from Atlanta, Georgia who decided to take a year off to travel around the world. Together we decided to create vlogs for our journey as a fun way to remember it. On September 15, 2019, we left Atlanta with 3 bags, 2 one-way tickets, and 1 goal of traveling for a whole year. Little did we know, 6 months later we would find ourselves in a nationwide lockdown in India. After spending 5 months in India, we came back to the United States and decided to purchase a 34’ Trawler, dive headfirst into boat life, and kick-off America’s Great Loop.
    The good, the bad, the ugly - and most importantly, the real and real funny. We’re not here to tell you “how it’s done.”, just how we’ve done it. And that whatever it is that’s calling you - the way you’ll do it is much more attainable than it may seem.

    As a fellow Georgian, thank you for encouraging people to vote without being political. I am 68 and have never missed an election, used absentee ballot when necessary. Been keeping up with you since the first attempt at the Loop and still enjoying watching.

    You need a 50/30 amp adapter. Rvers use them. When you have a 30 amp pigtail, but the outlet is 50 amp. They aren't expensive, and they are really handy.
    You never said if the filter change solved the fuel issue. Clogged filters will cause the very problems that you experienced. 2.5 million miles trucker, speaking from experience.

    Hi - on your fuel issue - on the dock, try revving the engine for a minute and if the engine dies down, your issue is your racor fuel filter(s). For your shore power issues, you may want to consider having a 50 Amp Male to Two 30 Amp Females Marine Shore Power Y-Adapter

    First things first ... you are such an inspiration ... thank you for sharing your journey ... about fuel issues ... i once had a clogged return line on the tank at the outside vent ... it was causing a slight vacuum and restricted fuel flow to the point of reduced rpm ... opening the top of the primary racor filter would reset the problem ... only to return later ... rare but can happen ... take care.

    Another beautiful day on the river even with the wind and waves. Too bad that you were having fuel issues. The other time not to have your engine fail is when you are close above a Lock and Dam. I've heard of situations over the years where boats have had engine failures not far above a dam and they got swept into that section and over the gates. It didn't end well for those on board. It's even happened to the river tow boats during flood waters. On one trip with Riverbreeze, we set out that I knew conditions were going to get rough. It was late fall and we had Gale force winds on our day of travel. On sections of the river that were exposed to the westerly winds, it was pretty rough but in those sections that the wind was broken by hills and such, it was calm and smooth. The last section of river we had to run to get to our destination at Turtle Creek, it was a long stretch of the river that ran due west. Being such a long fetch, the river was really rocking and you had the downbound current moving against 40 mph winds. There were true rollers I estimated had to be from 4 to 6 footers, but being such a big heavy boat, about 80,000 pounds, and it tracked really well, she just plowed through the waves with no problem. It was a bit tricky getting into the tight channel into the harbor but I did it. I'm glad that we didn't need to lock through Markland L&D that was just a mile downriver. That would have been scary time. That is something that they only had 15 amp service at your slip. I never ran into that. My boot needed two 50 amp plugs to run everything onboard. The smallest service I ever found was 30 amp. In most RV parks the smallest they have is 30 amp. I don't know why they even bothered with 15 amp service.

    Try to get some white pig mats at an auto parts or marine store. They show red diesel fuel leaks very well. Wipe fittings connections and filters before you loosen them it's a great way to find leaks

    Is the fuel level similar as to when your power issues happened last time? If so, your fuel pick-up inside the tank might have a pin-hole leak that is allowing air into the line. It wouldn't happen until the level in the tank drops below that point. Kind of like a soda straw with a hole on the side. Also, I recommend Star-Brite's Strat-Tron treatment for diesel. It's an enzyme formula that deals with water and bacteria in the fuel. Help me with sludge issues on my last boat.

    Love to watch you both on your adventure. If I were doing the loop like a friend of mine did. He had 2 spare filters (4) incase he had an issue like you have. I know this was done in 2022 but for your next trip carry at least 1 each.

    Looking at the Map, it should be 16 AND 17. The Alabama Mississippi border is on the west shore of the lake, so you were almost certainly in Alabama at some point too. If for only a minute or two.

    This episode shows thqt safety and maintenance do not rate high on the list of things to take care of. life jackets on in locks and never when outside the cabin is kind of crazy. I would say engine wise you have been very lucky and hope for no more problems.

      It’s a boat. Things break. Just look at that 92 foot Viking sport fish that ended up on the beach over the weekend. You can’t bubble wrap the world and have every possible contingency covered.

      It's one of those truisms in boating, that no matter how well maintained your boat is, things will break at the worst possible time. It's a harsh, hard world out on the water. It's not like when you are in your car on the interstate or highway that you can just pull off to the side of the road. Shit happens!

    I would think that 30A to 50A is just a difference in the connector type. And since you're only drawing a theoretical max 30A, you should be able to plug into 50A with no issues, where the reverse might result in popping a breaker on the shore power pedestal.

      Unless I'm reading this incorrectly I think you're incorrect. If you plug into 50 amps, and you're boat is a 30 Amp boat you'd pop a breaker because more current is coming in than the system is capable of handling. Circuit breakers are designed to protect wiring from over voltage and over amperage

      It’s a pretty simple adapter and it just changes the plug. You have 50 amps available, but only will draw 30 max.

      @@helimx That isn't quite how electricity works. The outlet in the typical American home is a 15A outlet. The wiring and the breaker is designed to allow up to 15A of current to flow. I can plug a device that only draws 1A, and the 15A of "potential" doesn't damage it.
      The only think I can think of is maybe a typical 30A marine service pedestal is 125VAC, and a 50A marine service pedestal is 250VAC? I didn't think of that earlier. Hmmm. I'll have to read up on this. Thanks for making me think more about it.

      And I found this on a site about shore power, so my inkling may be right: "Many larger boats now come with 50 amp shore power systems, and many marinas now offer 50 amp service. 50 amp cordsets, which are rated either at 50A 125 V or 50A 125/250 V, deliver far more amperage than a 30 amp cord."

      No, our dinghy isn't strong enough to push our big boat. Its a 3HP electric motor and it might budge the boat a bit but not efficiently. We are looking forward to seeing their Loop too! They are an awesome family

    The subtitles that you add only appear on the screen for 1.7 seconds and they appear directly over the regular closed captioning titles, how about you make it at least four or five seconds and put it not at the same place that they put closed captioning unrealistic to ask you? I have seen comments where other people have complained about this while you were on the Eastern Seaboard so you've had months and months and months and months and months to make this change but your subtitles appear shorter and shorter every time and it might be editing it might be you but none of us are your age with your eyesight anymore so please please please please please you're driving your audience buzzers, for example I had to back it up three and a half times the half was to count it was less than 2 seconds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!
