  • It is our final cruise down the Illinois River and in this video you get a slice of life, as we peel back the onion a bit and show how our days are spent! We have a plan A to end up at a local restaurant and plan B will take us to the junction of the Mighty Mississippi!
    Thanks for watching!
    Cheers from the Loop,
    Jennifer and Elliot

    ABOUT US
    Hi! We are high school sweethearts from Atlanta, Georgia who decided to take a year off to travel around the world. Together we decided to create vlogs for our journey as a fun way to remember it. On September 15, 2019, we left Atlanta with 3 bags, 2 one-way tickets, and 1 goal of traveling for a whole year. Little did we know, 6 months later we would find ourselves in a nationwide lockdown in India. After spending 5 months in India, we came back to the United States and decided to purchase a 34’ Trawler, dive headfirst into boat life, and kick-off America’s Great Loop.
    The good, the bad, the ugly - and most importantly, the real and real funny. We’re not here to tell you “how it’s done.”, just how we’ve done it. And that whatever it is that’s calling you - the way you’ll do it is much more attainable than it may seem.
    Thank you for following us along our journey!

    17:00. Look at Jen lassoing that cleat! That dock line is a natural extension of her hand and arm. Go girl.

    Some of your videos trigger the realization of how professional your camera work/editing is. I really like the split screen piece when you left the lock.

      Thanks so much! We’re glad you liked the split screen, aligning the videos to the exact millisecond took a while but it was a fun edit!

    Just discovered your channel a month or so ago and loving it. I knew that you could make the trip you are on but had no clue that it was called AGL. This particular video is near is near where I used to live (Alton IL). Grafton is a great place to visit, eat, sightsee, bike, etc. I actually grew up boating on the Mississippi, Missouri & Illinois rivers in the early 70’s. I now live south of STL on the IL side. Crossing the Jefferson Barracks Bridge the I often see cruisers heading south.
    Great channels and adventures… travel safe!!

    Your videos have become works of cinematic art. The pacing, the subject matter and how it is framed, and above all the stories contained in each episode …just, wow. And, oh yeah, it’s still incredibly enjoyable to be along for the ride and do the Great Loop from my iPad! Keep it up and know how much your hard work is appreciated. 👍 (that’s a wagging thumb 😂)

    Hi guys! Always love your videos! You have a note in this video that the ball-diamond-ball day mark tells you which side to pass on. This is actually the day Mark for a vessel limited in its ability to maneuver. (Colregs Rule 27). Thanks for the great videos! Love sharing your travels!

    Poor Ollie. Our boat dog hated walking on wooden planks for some reason. And most docks are made of wood so yeah, she got carried sometimes.

    The Mississippi is a busy river and can also include some surprises. The history of the US is centered in this area as the west was just wilderness and fur traders came from the north and the rest is history. Now you can follow. Enjoy

    I've watch all of your Loop videos and watch the newest releases soon after you post them. I'll be starting my Loop from Minnesota in a week or so. Your vids are very helpful. One suggestion: Can you give the date of each trip? It would help to know the approximate time of the season you are at each location. Thanks!

    • @SchoandJo
      @SchoandJo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome, thanks for watching! We do include the dates filmed in the description of all our videos! This one was filmed on 9/26 👍
      For general dates, we got into Canada first week of July, into Chicago 9/16, and got into Florida around the New Years, but you'll have to stay tuned for those :) Also generally you want to be in the Chesapeake Bay by May and for us, we left the Keys at the fist of March to accomplish that.
      Cheers!

      haha Go 🐊 - Our families are from just outside of Jacksonville, FL but we consider Atlanta as our home since it was our first home together. The great loop is a fantastic adventure, if you decide to take the leap you won't regret it!

    You guys know how to present an interesting story. Just found you a couple of weeks ago and I am enjoying your journey. Do you have a background in video production?

      Thanks for the comment Len! We don't I (Elliot) have a background in software engineering and Jen has a background in Urban Planning and Architecture, all our video production and storytelling has been learning here on TH-cam. If you watch some of our early videos you will see just how we started, knowing nothing :) We try to just improve by a little bit each video and over time see some results!

    I'm curious, and plan on going to your early videos so this may be answered for me.... But, you've always replied to my questions, and have given me love for my comments on multiple socials when I promote your channel and whatnot. Lol.
    First, do you have patreon? How do yall finance all of this? Because while you're my favorite loop channel, you don't have a ton of followers on YT. Remote workers or a saved up nestegg? You also don't seem like trustfunders (no hate if you are)
    I'll say this. Even though you don't have hundreds of thousands of followers, your content is top notch, and consistent and it makes me wonder how I can support yall more.
    I also know these videos are about a year behind, so I'm curious what yall are up to next?
    Saw on fb a few days ago the announcement of completing the loop, in February. Lol

    • @SchoandJo
      @SchoandJo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much! We finance this through a few ways, the first being the various income sources for content creation, aka ads, patreon, etc. The second is we do a little remote work to make ends meet while Scho and Jo grows. Finally we simply try and be as frugal as possible! Thats very kind of you to offer to support us, we have a page on our website detailing the options schoandjo.com/say-thanks and honestly simply subscribing, commenting, and even sharing is a fantastic way to show your support. Thank you!

      @@SchoandJo Ha! No problem, I think I figured it to be Kampsville, but the buildings on the shore via Google Maps images, didn't quite match your video. Aprpreciate the reply, just living vicariously through you two!
