So my question is why is Canada Post not cutting or laying off any upper management who don't do any revenue generating work? Why do they always just cut and make the jobs harder for the people who are generating actual income for the corporation?

Exactly, thank you. If you spent that much money and didn't make a profit as a manager you or I would be fired, why does that not happen for these managers and 22 vp's. They also collected bonuses and hazard pay after "loosing" so much money. Not all black and white thats for sure. 😂💔
@Whiskey_Jane Yes and those managers collected hazard pay for working from home during Covid while the carriers were out in public. The carriers didn't get a penny of hazzard pay.
To me, the post office is a public service, a public service does not have to be profiable our police and fire department do not make money for our city,
Fire Dept doesn't go on strike at the start of wild fire season. police dept doesn't stand on the side walk and watch people commit crime, and simply say, sorry i'm on strike, you are going to have to wait.
I get not delivering parcels and such but government ID and documents that are critical to everyday life should still be delivered out of respect such as Drivers Licenses, Health cards and Passports
🧐 Because that serves you …consider if you sell hockey 🏒 stuff - shipping doesn’t arrive but you spent $’s …. And there goes the season for income. Or worse - your chemo cocktail 🍸 arrives by post … it’s more serious than not having the hard copy of your licence.
Canada post has served their purpose, time to let them go and compete fairly. The world has changed and they do not have the power they once had.Shocking that they are asking for such an increase.
I do sympathize with the plight of the postal workers but a lot of people in our area have to go to the local Post Office to pick up our mail so this is not relevant to us.
Time to complete the change initiated by PM Harper towards more efficient community mailboxes that ALL DELIVERY services should be able to access. Increase the price of a stamp to a profitable level and see if CP can turn a profit. This isn't the 1950s anymore and just like the Legacy Media it's ti e to make major changes to the business model.
Everything he said made a case for getting rid of this system. These folks wanna cost even more and do less, these demands are not the end of their list. Most routes in Canada are serviced without ask this community connection or thoughtfulness. So many services can do this better for no cost to the taxpayers.... Capitalism solves this with competition. Thanks for filming his thoughts.
It’s a crown corporation that should never be allowed to strike as it is an essential service especially in rural communities. It’s mostly mismanaged, overpriced and poorly run.

I detest unions but I doagree that the corp is top heavy with deadwood at the management level...their salaries need to be capped at 90k with benefits.
@@jakethesnake6438 That is exactly the point.. If their financial position is as dire as they have been shouting to the media, why are executive bonuses at an all-time high? Why aren't management seeing layoffs?
Greed. They're public servants, and get paid more money, pensions and benefits than the ones paying their salaries. The whole system needs to be dismantled and rebuilt from the ground up.
Postal workers pay for their benefits, and if they want to use them, they have to come up with the money up front for 98 percent of the sevices, so if you dont have x number of dollars for glasses or speacialists, because you also have to keep the lights on, food on the table and mortgage paid your gonna choose not to get that health care you need.Alot of medicine people need, they have to try several others first they know wont work, then pay the dr to fill out a form so they can now say yes ive tried others and they dont work, can I please get the actual medicine I need. Everything is so costly these days no one is making enough money for food or bills. No Letter carriers are raking in the dough . And with pensions its that the company is trying to bring in a system where people who have been working for a few decades will not have a pension when its time to retire, letter carriers pay into their own pensions and they want it to be there when they do retire... and if anyone thinks its bad now, just wait and see it the corporation gets what they want, when they pay even less and less to new workers and no one stays around after a week or two, people will have a lot more issues getting thier parcels and mail and forget about christmas it will be all year round. Carriers start off in classes of up to 10-15 people, its a really difficult job and most classes have one person that actually stays if any.
Who is "they"? How is the Canada Post CEO not throwing his workers under the bus? Or should we all accept worsening work conditions while upper management fills their pockets & turns workers against eachother?
@@Hydecreekfinery We also have a suffering economy, generally speaking. Don't pretend it's just the strike hurting small businesses and people struggling financially. Until the point workers have no more purchasing power left? Or when is enough, in your eyes? Not everyone has the luxury of leaving for better wages - especially not if/when everyone does it. Economic inequality is only continuing to get worse. It's on unions to step up on behalf of their workers when all else fails.
They are worth 13% over 4 years. No change in pensions . Weekends straight time, of course overtime paid if over 40 hours per week. Part timers fall into new hire category. Delivery 7 days per week. Automation happens, so open 7 days a week will give more hours. No to sorters but that is the company's right. If the carrier can't walk whole shift, then duty to accommodate, they go to sorting. It's a physical job as a carrier, can't do it, then you are unable to fulfill job duties, they find another job within CP to do. Nobody likes change but it happens, suck it up
this guy is so delusional if he thinks there is strong public support. Average working Canadians are so sick and tired of Union strike. CP union rep even said it on national TV interview, he said if public doesn't like strikes, go get a union job.

Canada Post needs a huge overhaul. Why not look at Italy’s Poste which always makes big profits, they are in financial services, insurance and other services. It has more than double Canada Post employees.
My workplace uses Canada Post on a weekly bases and we appreciate their service, however, this dispute has snailed our business. No one wants to risk purchasing for Christmas because their gift won't be delivered, which puts my part time job in jeporady. In my area, the drivers who pick up our mail have a contract with Canada Post. When Canada Post is closed the contracted drivers don't work either. This strike is causing suffering to Canadians during a stressfull time. None of us will get a raise. I find it really odd that two of Canada Posts demands are for fertility drugs and trans sex change surgeries and treatments. Those are not health benefits. I as a tax pay strongly object to paying for these treatments. For everyday Canada Post is out striking, they lose support from Canadians. Please save our jobs as well and get back to work ASAP.
The union demands for benefits are fertility drugs and trans sex change surgeries and treatments. That better not be true. I do not want tax dollars going to that.
Postal work is a SERVICE base work...why n howcome a nation can start counting it as a PROFIT/LOSS making CORPORATION??? It must be FEDERAL AGENCY like any other service based NATIONAL DEPARTMENT be treated like that.
Government says canada post should prioritize service first but canada post upper management think otherwise. Because canada post top executives, roughly 40 to 50, make somewhere between 500k to 700k a year and 33 percent of yearly bonuses on top of their salary. While workers wage has been frozen. New hires make 18 to 21 dollar and they are expected to go extra mile and beyond regardless of weather in heatwave, extreme cold, rain and snow
That doesn't mean they should just continue to lose money and be propped up by the tax payers for a service which is becoming less and less in demand. Sounds like the union is unhappy about management's attempts to make things more efficient. Bottom line is they are low-skilled laborers already making really good money considering the qualifications. There is a reason other couriers are able to be so much more competative.

Make mail delivery an "Essential Service", no strikes, because it is an essential service. Canada Post is the reason courier companies have proliferated over the last decades. I've watched the "Royal Mail" of my childhood which was reliable because it was a Criminal Offence to not be, turned into Canada Post. I grew up in a grocery store with a Post Office, I knew and have known many postal workers since then, 6 decades. Their attitude, steered by the Union is the modern problem of "entitlement". You don't have to do the job, just show up. Unhappy, complain, go on strike, stress leave because you finished your shift in 6 hours and had to wait for the taxi or bus [true stuff]. Funny enough, the Union Rep in the vid is complaining about Postal delivery persons not being allowed to sort [choose] the mail they want to deliver. 30 years ago the local Postal delivery person was incensed he now had to sort his own mail. Oh how times change. Time to go back to "Essential Service", because it is and not a toy to be used by people who want more and do less.

Canada Post is a crown corporation with a legal monopoly on certain products and services, which provides it's workers their only means of leverage. Therefore, of course Canada Post is publicly funded! If the public wishes to mail a letter, there exists no alternative to funding it! Very true. I hope people that are negative to CUPW strike should look at the issues mentioned by the postal worker in your video again. This basically is a service, for any service provider who focus only in profits like amazon, ups or DHL, they have far less to consider, they have to deliver small communities where they make no profits, they can charge even more when Cheaper competition like Canada Post is gone. They suspended their service during covid 19, when Canada Post was the only carrier still working in keeping the links in this country.
Canada post is a free service to all Canadians, unless you buy a stamp you never pay anything for this service. As a crown corporation it is intended to break even and not make a profit, but when management overspends and falsely claims it as a loss they should be called out. Canada post did not lose money, but rather overspent knowingly so they could use it as leverage against the workers during their contract talks. I encourage everyone to educate yourselves, please do some research and not believe all that is being reported in the main stream media. So refreshing to finally hear the worker's side of the story as too often they are perceived to just be greedy people who care only about the money. It seems to me that if the public knew about the wages that management makes as compared to what the worker's make, there might be more of an incentive for the public to get involved and do something to see an end to this strike. The average worker is just trying to keep ahead of the increases that come their way on a daily basis.

While I truly hate unions, There is no reason this union should be blocked from feeding at the trough when every other branch of civil service ( except the military who always "ask for more than Canada can give" ) has had a turn. These raises have helped most civil servants and even allowed the leaders of the political parties and their MP's to all collect annual raises too. So why not give away more money?
I see many negative opinions but please get informed. Taxpayers do not pay for Canada postal services. Pitting workers against other workers is what billionaires want. Conquer and divide. Good jobs are good for the economy and generate income within communities.
Over the years I've had a couple of really good carriers. If I had a package coming in and I wasn't home he would come back when I was. During that time never had a stolen package.
Every single complaint I heard in this video is BS. When the first guy said “We want to go in and see our coworkers and connect with each other, not be like robots”, I spat out my coffee.

New hires make 18 to 21 dollar and they are expected to go extra mile and beyond regardless of weather in heatwave, extreme cold, rain and snow
That doesn't mean they should just continue to lose money and be propped up by the tax payers for a service which is becoming less and less in demand.

SO we pay more taxes for CP while the rest of Canada is falling apart and people dont have a job at all.... yeah im sure lots of support for their strike while they hold us for ransom with our deliveries. They are not the only delivery people with "Dangers"
Canada Post is a Crown Corporation NOT funded by the taxpayer.
Get rid of that dam union and life would be SO much easier for EVERYONE!
Actually, the opposite.
U.P.S. and FEDEX have warehouse people now preparing the trucks for the road ..all you do is go in get your manifest and hit the road...lot cheaper..and more delivery time on the road don't have to be hanging around getting paid when it can be done cheaper by some part time sorters..all all the other companies are, working on the weekend shifts..full time and part time by years of service...Fedex alot bigger now that Fedex Express and Fedex Ground are just one Company ..Ground was used to working weekends
What do you think would happen if everyone acted like these brats.
Get back to work. You made the vulnerable stress at a bad time. Actually that was the plan wasn't it. Timing is everything.
No. This has been going on for a year.
Shut down canada post....
Sorry Shane you’re getting bad information. 3 Billion dollar loss the last 5 years,
I want my paper bills it’s a record for me to keep track of things on line or in a computer can be lost very easily or deleted purposely if you get what I mean !
Get all those packages and letters out to people right now cuz all I see happening is layoffs coming, and people will switch to other sources to get their mail delivered 😮
If theycould they would have already.
Boohoo I'm getting a smaller raise than I wanted. Get back to work! It's the best job ever: you can't get fired, you're always exercising, you retire early with a fat pension. Stop crying about life, it's better than you think
@@tomaga5856 Something tells me you haven't done a day of delivering letters in your life, let alone know what it entails 😂
Seen Amazon driver bring stuff in a hurricane, and tornado, felt bad for him but that shows loyalty and take their jobs seriously
They are forced to work in those conditions or they will either loose their job or not be able to pay their bills. CP is the only department that is profitable and posties barely make a living wage. A $3.00 (10%) raise per hour in 20 years when the cost of living has in increased at lease 100%, likely many times more.
Cool, except they’re asking for higher wages than nurses and teachers.
And? Nurses and teachers do not work on ice qnd snow 8 hrs a day.
@@fabienneisore7831 LOL, That is a really dumb ass and ignorant come back.
Starting wage is $20-22 an hour. What is starting wage for Nurses and Teachers ?
Completely false. Where did you hear that?
@@Lewis5078I work there. Been there 18 yrs. Thats what starting wage is. Plain and simple.
"A lot of the problems in society today is because people just aren't getting paid what they're valued."
100%. Great interview. Very nice work.
The single sided blaming of the Postal works as opposed to the poor management (their self serving greedy practices), only serves to produce bias against the people that do the work.
Good job explaining everything.
Time for the community mail boxes to come back and some of the jobs to get cut
Clinton, thanks a million for this video. And special thanks to the brother who said it as is. Blessings to you all
Big savings in head office and office employees you ready dont need alot of management jobs or upper management really not needed..huge savings...they really don't have much to do all day......have to start cutting fast or I can prodict it all falling apart in a few years.....
You did a better job than the media of both sides!
1st and foremost get our stuff stuck in transit delivered somehow and then deal with this childish bs.
Canada Post Sal $40k ASYLUM SEEKER $120k EACH PLUS CHILD TAX BACK DATED 3 Years.....WHATS WRONG WITH MY STATEMENT??? Geee wonder Canada is BROKEN DEI Anyone????
Pay them what they're worth. I hope they get a decent contract they're wages r terrible. Good luck 👍
They're already overpaid for the work they do.
@@themikesuhThat’s in your opinion. Will you be happy to do the job with $30/hr and walking 26-40 km daily?
@@Grace-zb3pxit is not even 30 dollars her hour. It starts with 22 dollars. And we walk in rain, snow and extreme heat. Lots of our fellow carriers gets bitten by dogs and list goes on.
Great video, thnx
So refreshing to finally hear the worker's side of the story as too often they are perceived to just be greedy people who care only about the money. It seems to me that if the public knew about the wages that management makes as compared to what the worker's make, there might be more of an incentive for the public to get involved and do something to see an end to this strike. The average worker is just trying to keep ahead of the increases that come their way on a daily basis.
20 years ago I used to write letters to family in other countries. Now I use text or messenger. Most don't even send physical cards anymore. We send ecards.
The last time I sent a parcel by Canada Post, I got a photo of it sat outside my daughter's house in Toronto. They used to take it to a post office if nobody was home. I was not happy.
I am sure that upper management that finds ways to lose ever more money, knows better about doing the worker's jobs. Jobs that they have never done.
Make private post.
Post Should be Sold to private Company.
My pension check can only be mailed. Bell Canada policy. The check pays my rent, so you're not helping me.
Every single complaint I heard in this video is BS. When the first guy said “We want to go in and see our coworkers and connect with each other, not be like robots”, I spat out my coffee. As a Canadian taxpayer, I am NOT paying you to chat and connect. I’m paying you to deliver my stuff. Quickly. Frankly, I’d rather they fire the lot of you and replace all carriers with drones.
You’re holding this country hostage at Christmas time, because you want your cushy job back!? Suck an egg!
I’m self employed. I didn’t get raises over the last ten years either. My pay doesn’t go up with inflation. Postal workers already get paid more than our country’s nurses! And you just walk. It’s not rocket science - you don’t deserve to be paid more than nurses. Selfish.
Canada post is not funded by the taxpayer. You should blame management that took almost a year to make their first offer thus putting Black Friday, cyber Monday and potentially Christmas at jeopardy while still collecting bonuses
Tax payers dont pay their wages and they make far less than nurses. They actually make less per hour than the UPS, fed ex and Purolater. Get your facts right.
Amen my friend
You don’t pay Canada Post worker nothing. So please do your research on that. How much do you contribute? For you to say that postal worker are pay by you? May I know what do you do for living? So funny.
@shaynegrandison2069 the workers should be the ones going against that narrative, not the public who rely on them.
