I soak them because I didn't want them to turn brown (as I was filming). If I wasn't filming I would just thrown everything together as normal. I cut them up, and had them set as I finished my other prep and cleaning so they were there in the water for 15 minutes.
It was to prevent the apples from browning as I was prepping. I didn't have any lemon on hand so I used orange instead. It took me a bit to reply I have a lot of filming projects.
I'd never heard of it either, but I gave it a try and believe me, it made all the difference.... I didn't use a lot (about the same amount as lemon juice I used to keep the brown off the apples...) truly it was the best apple pie I've ever made...

I am glad I came across this recipe it was the bomb !but instead of using 1/2 cup of regular sugar I just used 1 cup of brown sugar also, I did not have butter so I just used a little bit of water until it looked the way it did on the video and OMG it was so delicious my husband loved it I also made my own crust and he said it was the best pie he ever ate lol THANK YOU so much for uploading this video ! I made this pie and it didn't stay in my house 2 days. It was good!! the only thing I used different is that I had a glass pie pan and I had to bake it a little longer. Thank you
Great job for those of us that do not have much time or want a bunch of store bought flour laying around 5 pounds is alot of flour if your not a Baker. This was quick easy an better then any store bought fillings thank you.

Thank you for your recipe....I have made it several times but altered it to cut down on our sugar intake.....I eliminated the sugars and added 4 packets of stevia in the raw and also added 1/2 teaspoon of all spice to your recipe......it came out delicious!!!

To stop them turning brown. Any acidic fruit can do , usually lemon is used. But he may just prefer to use orange
