- Shenzhen China is living in the future - We had always heard so much about Shenzhen being a futuristic city which is why we decided to plan our trip there with great anticipation. The skyline of gleaming skyscrapers and innovative architecture did not disappoint.
We were impressed by the efficient public transport in Shenzhen, China. The seamless integration of technology into everyday life, from facial recognition payments to widespread high speed internet was truly remarkable. The World can definitely learn a lot from Shenzhen China and how it's already living in the future.

I appreciate our Communist Government, this government absorb all the goodness of Chinese and Western wisdom. When she develops this country, we can merge the goodness of planned economy, capitalism. What we take for granted in China - the excellent infrastructure, the 5G network , subway , high speed train , super app WeChat , cashless , no crime safety, food delivery , package delivery , affordable everything , no power shortages, diverse food culture , no shortages of basic necessities, ….. etc. This govt has done a remarkable job , if you were here 25 yrs ago , the transformation is mind boggling.

The reason your fans in China are so happy to meet you is your infectious smiles and positive attitude towards the country. Even though you have been here 3 times already you have still only scratched the surface of what China has to offer. Don't forget my suggestion of Inner Mongolia. Also I had suggested trying XiBei restaurant and in a recent vlog you stood right infront of one while deciding where to go to eat 🤣🤣🤣 I was devastated 🤦♂😭😁.

It's true , some 40 years ago, Shenzhen was just a "Fishing Village". Sometime in 1982 thereabout, I was inspecting some conveyor belt machinery delivering concrete materials over a fence from the border of Shenzhen to the Hong Kong side, for a client. From the HK side, I could only see "flat empty land" over a long distance , probably some farms , literally no concrete buildings. The development of Shenzhen is truly amazing , to say the least. ( The development of Pudong in Shanghai was also similar , from what I saw in my working trips there is the early 80s )

Cantonese food is all about freshness. It's usually light on addictives. You get the real taste/texture of the food.

I am metro-holic. I prefer the metro to any other means of public or private transportation. Right now, you guys are quite well-known in China. Almost everything in that restaurant is steamed apart from the noodles. It looks like an albino Woodlice. The restaurant name 包老爷 could be translated as Mr. Bao or Ancle Bao. Yes, Deng Xiaoping was the father of "Reform and Opening up". A lot of well-educated people are living and working in Shenzhen. In resturant 2, you can have rice noodles as well.

Great job on this episode as well! You guys probably already know this by now. Steamed dumplings and boiled ones are not called the same name. Steamed ones are called baozi/包子 while boiled ones are called jiaozi/饺子or 水饺。Maybe stuffed bun for baozi and save dumpling for jiaozi. Fried buns, jianbao/煎包，fried dumplings pot stickers/煎饺or锅贴。there you go!

when you go back to UK, you would definitely miss the Chinese food that you have had here and could no longer settle for those so called "Chinese takeaway" in England.
All the Hong Kong people I know say the Chinese food overseas (in the west) is better than the Chinese food in China. All the chefs have moved so it attracted their skills, like a brain drain out of China. So you don't need to go to China for good authentic Chinese food anymore (or Chinese anything), that is elitist thinking. Multicultural melting pots like Canada already have all the best from every part of the world. This is what Hong Kongers and westerners told me btw.

其实从看你们逛乌鲁木齐的时候就很好奇，因为你们很喜欢逛街，我一直觉得深圳是真的很适合逛街的地方，东门，从白石洲逛到红树林，购物广场，福田，华强北。我真的太怀念深圳了，我2009年去深圳工作，在深圳呆了十多年，留下了很多美好的回忆。在我映像里深圳没有什么特别的自然风光，不是什么游玩的好去处，但是如果只是逛街，那就很精彩了，你们可以去东门逛吃逛吃，旁边有个小游乐场，虽然不大但是绝对能玩到开心，有时候我自己去玩也会被一些新奇的东西吸引。当然还有两个地方对于我来说算是很烂的两个景点，一个是“世界之窗”还有一个是“欢乐谷”，但是对你们来说说不定很有趣呢，对了，还有“东部华侨城”。如果你们不喜欢逛景点，就是想找深圳地道的街道，这一期里你们出现在大街上和那种大的购物广场也是一个逛点，还有一些城中村也很有趣，我认为你们做的话肯定有很多好玩的情况，里面像迷宫一样，充满了赛博朋克的未来感，比如上沙，下沙，白石洲。

How bt trying some new dishes like地三鲜di san xian(vegetarian) and 牛肉炖土豆niu rou dun tu dou (beef) and so on. It's best to go w plain white steamy rice brings out full flavours of the dishes.

Hey guys, keep up the great videos! Just a tip, if anything comes in a bamboo basket is steamed because those baskets are made for steaming. What you had were buns, not dumplings (I don't think you need soy sauce with that. For soup dumplings, you can dip in some soy sauce or vinegar with sliced ginger; do try next time as it's a good balance of flavours - be careful with the soup in the dumplings, can be piping hot). The soup dumplings that you saw on the menu which were in bamboo baskets are also steamed, not boiled (the soup is in the dumplings as part of the fillings). Just for your info. Love, from Singapore.

Tas has mentioned "flying car" for a few times now, right? Check out XPeng flying car, it is something that's already being made and on its way to maturity. XPeng is an established EV brand in China.
Btw Shenzhen is the headquarter of many world top tech companies including DJI, BYD, etc. You guys probably already knew.
