I have taken the HS Train Business Class from Guangzhou to Wuhan several times and returned to Guangzhou by plane and train. The cost was about the same. Going Business class on the train and tourist class on the plane. Time is about the same depending on when your final destination is. Toilets are usually the settlers, and most people prefer the squatters as you never touch the seat as there is no seat. But you need to be able to squat in some situations. Smoking in China is due to the cheap cost of cigarettes, about a dollar a pack. The number of electric bikes on the sidewalk is not good for walkers. Most cities have electric bikes you can rent using your phone App. Many sidewalks in most cities have turned into Electric bike paths. In Dongguan, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Huizhou electric bikes are very popular.
