  • The Prusa filament sensor lever can be quite fickle. Sometimes it can throw an out of filament error when there is still plenty of filament in the reel. Learn how the sensor works and how to fix this error.

I just discovered tonight that on my Mk4, the filament sensor profile was different from PTEG to TPU. When i changed to TPU it would randomly stop and want to change the filament mid print a number of times. Upon running the filament sensor calibration again, the error disappeared.

Its possible that the TPU has a tiny bit more movement in it because of the flexibility. This could cause the sensor to trigger. If it keeps happening try this mod and let me know how it goes.

Wouldn't printing a new ball housing prevent the issue as well?

Yes,it would help. I did print a new one, twice! But I found that the extra push it gets helps a lot more.
