When I first met my wife she found out that I could play the guitar and she asked me to play her a song. Only a week prior I had heard this song on the radio for the first time in at least 30 years, so I thought it would be funny if I learned how to play it just to get a laugh out of people. I played it for her, and it became our song. People look at us funny when we dance to it, but we don't care. It's just for us.

Just one more band, along with Billy Joel and others, that are some of the few good memories with my old man, riding around in his teal firebird with white pleather seats listening to 8-tracks. 😂 Dad was, kind of, an ass, but those were some of the good times.

So many great Dr. Hook songs. Like others have said "A Little Bit More", When You're In Love With a Beautiful Woman", "Sexy Eyes", "Only Sixteen", "Freakin' At The Freakers Ball", you can't go wrong with any of them. And most of their songs were written by Shel Silversteen, the same guy that wrote "A Boy Named Sue" and the kid's books "The Giving Tree" and "Where the Sidewalk Ends".

Another song in a similar vein is "I'd Really Love to See You Tonight" by England Dan and John Ford Coley. th-cam.com/video/UuUVgKT4roQ/w-d-xo.html This is a Midnight Special version because I know you like the live performances. Not quite as smooth as the album version, but still good.

That was 1991. Kevin passed away at age 43 in 2010. I miss he so much and smile ear to ear when I hear this! Thank you

I absolutely have loved this band most of my life, got my first kiss to this song when I was 16, at the skating rink they played alot of oldies. I met and cooked for Ray Sawyer the guy with the eye patch and his band 3 years running when they were on tour, the second year Ray s son saw me recognized me and said dad dad it's that cooking girl, apparently my cooking made an impression and they had been taking about they would be back to my town for weeks and wondered if I was still there.

I do but I'm from Middle Michigan and we had manners. I live in North Carolina and the most polite thing I have heard anyone say is "Well bless your heart!" Mind you, if you are from the south you can confirm, that doesn't mean what it sounds like...it's kind of like saying F... You "politely ".

Grew up with this music; and looking back I think 1977, 78 and 79 had some of the best music. Until about 2 years ago, I hadn't a clue what these guys looked like. When I did finally see them, it really wasn't what I had imagined. Alot of their music has held up well over time in my opinion. 🙂
