    Loved the Video Alan. I lost a really nice size flathead there on the long weekend, it was at least 60 or 70cm. Broke the leader on the rocks. I was just about to grab him.

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Jared, oh no about the flathead. Thats the trouble when fishing on the rocks you always lose a good fish here and there because its really challenging to land

    G'day allen, nice snapper he looks about 2 to 2.5kg. Not a bad spot at all for 'em. fresh salmon or yellowtail scad for bait works well but also the banjo's love 'em as well.

      yeah fresh salmon has been a standout bait the last few weeks. Your not wrong about the banjos either.

    Hi Alan, I hope that you get to 100K subs very soon.
    Love your work and really looking forward to meeting you in person...
    Been waiting all year for warmer weather and snapper season. Watching you whilst overseas and now I'm back home.
    I'll start my land based very soon and your tips help myself as eager beginners a lot.
    You are truly an asset to Melb beginner anglers.
    Keep up the wonderful work.

    12:32 This is a problem. On the one hand, while fishing at a jetty you have to retrieve fairly fast because hooks and line get snagged on the rocks. On the other hand, a lot of people who use soft plastics say to retrieve slowly because many fish will leave fast moving bait alone but will attack slow moving bait.

    Hi Allan great vid could you detail the atomic arrowz rod and reel your using please mate

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, that's my go to snapper outfit for PPB. The reel is a Sustain FJ 5000 spooled with 20lb braid and the rod is a Atomic Arrowz AAS-70MH 10-25lb. I've painted the rod tips to help with visibility. The rods are OK good value, the reel is excellent.

      Got a full step by step vid in the FishingMad members area on how its done. I used marking tape for the guides and White Knight Squirts white paint primer. Can be a tad fiddley, but I'm really pleased i did it for my bait rods.

    Can you tell us which reel, and which strength line you were using in this video?
    On your blog you said you paired this 9ft rod with a 3000 size reel and 12lb braid, but you also said in your blog that you paired the smaller 5-8kg rod with a 6000 size reel and 22lb braid.
    But confusing as to why you would only use 12lb line on this rod unless that was a typo? Did you mean 12kg?
    Also I know this is very basic, but how are you transporting your rods? Do you lay your seats down in the car and put them on top?
    Also thanks for all the videos and tips, they are very helpful, I'm learning estuary and river fishing but want to start learning surf fishing

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The rod was a Savage Gear 1DFR 9 foot 6-10 kilo but feels much lighter, the reel was a shimano sustain 5000 compact with 20lb braid. The other combo i had was much lighter. The rod is a 2 piece and easily goes into the car with the middle back seat folded down.

    • @unahbs
      @unahbs ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank heaps for the reply, I am gonna save up and copy that combo (except probably get a cheaper reel) for when I'm ready to try surf fishing. Gonna learn the basics just on the lighter smaller rod I got, and wanna learn soft plastics as well as I only know how to bait fish currently.
      I am very much a beginner and learning pretty much everything from your channel, nobody taught me how to fish and my friends don't know much about it either.
      You're my favourite fishing channel I have found so far, the way you explain things is really helpful and simple.
