The 3008 is one of the best handling SUV around, definitely better than an Ateca, journalists needs to stop believing that firm suspension = good handling.
I’ve been driving the prelifted 5008, and i must say the infotainment system is pretty good. I’ve always thought it was Way better that some competitiors and i have never experieced the lag you’re takling about. so i must say i Think you’re being to harsh towards it. Last the interior is a Dream, Peugeot was Way ahead of the competition when the card frist debuted.
I have to agree with you I have the 3008 gt .... had a Tiguan before that and the Peugeot is a class above .... only downside to the car is the rear suspension.... probably the worst on any car
Just traded in my late 2017 5008 (new model) for an ID4 1st edition, I have to say the quality and solidity of the ID4 is leaps and bounds ahead of the 5008. That’s just my opinion, but I do agree the interior of the 5008 is very stylish still to this day, but it does get rattly after 18 months or so
We have leased the 3008 since December 2019 and judging from this review we will continue to love this SUV for our choice of transport for 2022 on wards well done team Peugeot this is still a step up from all other SUV's.
Frankly, it might be only a slight update to a model released in 2017 but it still looks more current on the inside than most of it's rivals, even many that have just been released.
Agreed. I have the 2017 model and not worth the upgrade for me as there are only subtle changes. I have the 3008 GT Line and it’s the first vehicle that I have decided to keep rather than trade in at the end of my PCP. I’ve had 5 Peugeot vehicles over the years and the 3008 is hands down the best vehicle that I’ve had so far.
Had a 3008 since May since new. GT Line. Absolutely love it. The drive is just pure pleasure and the steering is nothing short of marvelous. The tech is great as well and i am hard pressed to find any fault. I can't wait to slip in a RS3 engine somewhere down the line :-)
A very thorough review Doug. The 3008 design is classy and understated, and it seems to be a quality product. I understand Peugeots have decent reliability these days. An important point (for me anyway) is that access is very good too with the higher seating position - easier than my Tucson. Good to know the 1.2 130 petrol engine is more than sufficient for the car. I might give it a look next time :-)
My Peugeot 4007 finally failed from old age so I needed a replacement within a few days. My need for a 4x4 off road seriously capable vehicle no longer existed. Time to look around. The local dealer had a very pretty 3008, on a 2021 plate. Guess who fell in love and said “I’ll take that one,” and had no regrets. Who cares about trim, about storage, engine size, paint, packaging? The GT label is enough for me. The car fits me and my life style. Perfect.
Owning it for 5 months today. This car's styling would look modern even after 7 years in my opinion. The interior,in my GT trim, is the most beautiful I've ever seen in any vehicle.
Good review but I hate the fact that you guys alway compare every brand again Seat and Skoda or should I say VW brand. , how come you don't use Kia or Hyundai which to be are far better and have better specs. This just tells me you are trying to promote and biased to VW brand and not other brands.
I always wonder why there is so much fuzz about the climate control. When you have the automatic climate control you set a temperature and that's it, is my experience. In my Arteon I touched it 5 times last 3,5 years. It is basically always at 20.5 C, fan set to auto. Same for the sound volume. I touched it 7 times. All the other times I used the buttons on the steering wheel.
VW Tiguan, Ford Kuga, Nissan Qashqai, Lexus NX, Hyundai Tucson..... and all other medium range suv's cannot compete with Peugeot in terms of beauty. Interior is extra special. Exterior looks equally exclusive. Great looking suv but not just the beauty, also the engine variants cover what others in the same segment don't. 1.2 litre and 1.6 litre engine are practical for daily use. Manual option is handy. In my personal opinion it is the best suv. Even when I see BMW X3 or Porsche Macan i find Peugeot 3008 better than those if you keep in mind the price, engine variant and the interior, exterior styling.
Hi bought this 3008 allure in Sept 2021. I found it so dangerous on my first big roadie, as the steering wheel felt so light and flimsy. Not cool going around winding roads. Several months later, i love it. It’s great on petrol & easy to keep clean. Its extremely comfortable with lovely seat warmers. The reversing camera is mediocre, and I just hook everything up to apple play, as so much easier. I did pay the extra for the different tyres with mud, snow etc and I feel it’s grips well on the road with snow and frost. I also paid extra and had my tyres blacked out, it looks so much nicer without the chrome. It looks like the GT model without the extra money. I do love the bright lights & I get a lot of stares & comments. In my New Zealand city where I live, this is definitely a rare car. There’s a few old Peugeots around, but not many new 3008s. My son has a bmw & reckons my Peugeot is nowhere near as cool as his. I beg to differ.
This is such a great looking car. To be honest it's hard to make an SUV look appealing, but they have managed it. By the way, can anyone actually tell the difference between a SEAT, Skoda or VW these days, without looking at the badge?
Why are you reviewers so negative to the diesels? My 1.5 hdi eat8 is far superior to petrol costs a massive £5 more to fill up and goes 200 miles further a tank, easily gets 60 mpg in general driving. Oh, it has lower emissions than the petrol so actually greener! Air con control is simple, press the shortcut button to access the screen and 3 seconds to adjust. I have the ore facelift GT Line Premium with the bigger more fuel efficient wheels and will be getting another one within 3 months. Power tailgate and opening panoramic roof does it for me. 130 hp is plenty for our speed limits in U.K I really don’t understand by you all bang on about needing more. Back in the 1980’s I had a Ford Capri 3.0 litre v6, which was rated as very fast but, it only managed 136 horsepower and 14 miles per gallon! So a 1.5 auto diesel with 130 hp and 60 mpg is a much more refined and virtually as fast as the Capri was. Bear in mind, Minis, original ones at the time had 47 hp and most Sierra type cars only had around 80 hp and they were considered quick enough with plenty of power for everyday driving. Have you found a road in Britain you can drive along at over 100 mph without traffic or speed cameras on? Different in the 80’s but not today.
My 2022 model has a sunroof. They are a pain in the neck (esp in Australia). However that's just a little thing. The 3008 is great.@@andrewhambleton7459
Great review, thanks! I find Doug (and What Car reviews in general) consistently offer professional, balanced and informative reviews, Nice relaxed style, great presentation! Long-time subscriber, and I’m currently in the process of changing the car… Currently in Mazda CX 30, want something slightly bigger, CX 5 on the cards along with Peugeot 3008, new Tuscon and Nissan Qashqai.. this review very helpful, somehow though I think I’m veering towards the Tucson because of the boot space, and I think the hybrid looks competitively priced especially considering the amount of spec.. this review very helpful. Cheers!
Just on the steering wheel, cockpit layout and driving position. I don't know what it is with English reviewers. Irrespective of driver's height you can ALWAYS find a comfortable driving position. The forward /back and up/down adjustments of the seat and steering wheel allow everyone to find a position where they can see the instrument panel. I just bought an ex demo 2022 3008 GT HDi (2.0L diesel). I live in Australia so the 2.0L diesel is the best engine option by a long way. My wife is 5ft2" and I am almost 6ft. Took us less than a minute to find a good driving position. I actually asked the salesman what all the fuss was about the steering wheel- cockpit layout. He said the main problem was "THE DRIVER". Took me about 30sec to get used to the cockpit layout. My touchscreen is responsive- no hassles although I admit to liking buttons over touchscreen. I came from a 308 (2012 HDi). I found the ride in the 3008 a lot smoother and it is extremely quiet inside. Mine has 18" wheels and these give a better ride than the 19" low profiles. I have had Peugeots for a long time. I always buy one or two year old cars because the value is there (big discount off new price). The 308 I had was $AUD12,000 off new price (7000Kms on the clock) and my 3008 is $AUD20,000 off new price (10,800kms on the clock). They are pretty good deals - both are diesels so engine life is almost unlimited.
Really reviewer? You think that 3008 is noisy compared to Ateca/Karoq? Omg. Ok everybody knows that this is a VAG fan channel but for god sake keep a low profile....
I have a peugeot and that small steering wheel is the best. You can toggle through the display settings to change the viewing. I don't like the regular steering wheels anymore, just looks to big. Overall, these models are very nice to drive.
Steering wheel is excellent. Still don't get the constant referring to it. I much prefer it to the traditional. The infotainment system is a doddle too. Really makes me wonder about some users functional abilities. Small dash glove box? Such a problem in a big SUV with storage dotted all around it?!
Indeed ! They always have to talk about the cockpit view. Why? I am 6ft tall and never had any problem with it, I own the Peugeot 3008 Allure 2021 1.2 petrol 130hp automatic. Before I owned the 2008 gt with the same engine. The engine is sufficiënt for the 3008, and I drove already 3 times from Bruges to Alicante and back with no issues at all. Its a lovely car and the wife loves it too.
He is the old reviewer I’ve seen say it’s not fun to drive. I’ve only ever seen the 3008 and Ateca referred to as the most fun in class. I even say an e-pace refer to 3008 proving SUVs can be good to drive
I'm planning on buying a 2023 Peugeot 3008. I live in Mexico and I am scratching my head to choose between the 2023 Renault Koleos and this 2023 Peugeot 3008. I'm leaning more towards the 3008! Does anybody have any insight on the Koleos?
I really don't see why people make a big deal about the steering wheel. Any wheel can obstruct your view depending on your driving position and the wheels adjustment - even if you shift your body position during a journey.
The car looks good, but like all Peugeots after a few thousand miles the suspension starts to rattle more than the other dearer cars. I still remember the bad rattling on the Peugeot I had for three years, which ended up with a rear axel replacement. Do not judge a car by looks alone!
I've just sold my Peugeot 2012 308 (2L diesel). They do have a harsher ride but I don't mind that - had 165,000kms - hardly a rattle anywhere and suspension is excellent.
Unrelated issue. I drive an Mitsubishi Pajero sport with 60 000km’s driven. Shortly after a service my handbrake dash warning light came on. I took it to a Mitsubishi service a dealership. They assessed it and reported that my handbrake linings are worn completely and metal on metal. They charged me $160 for checking and then more than $500again for replacing the handbrake linings. They also warned me not to use my vehicle until they replaced the parts that took 7 days. I contacted Mitsubishi complaints and head office for clarity on this. It seems they don’t check hand brake linings on services and it is OK for them if one break down at an inconvenient time with worn handbrake linings. Even though my vehicle is only on 60 000km’s and it is not expected for hand brake linings to fail so early they refuse to explore it any further than me paying twice to have my linings replaced. They also also have no answer whatsoever when I asked, how do I prevent this in the future…so if you drive a Mitsubishi you can’t rely on dealership services to warn you prior to having you breaking down and having to pay twice for something that can be fixed at services. It seems like checking the handbrake linings yourself is the only option. I think this is appalling from Mitsubishi.
The 3008’is by far the better looking SUV. The Seat and Skoda look identical, boxy and boring. I’ve taken a test drive in a 3008 but the small steering wheel put me off. I couldn’t get it into a position where I could see the screen. Also, I don’t like air conditioning systems buried in the touchscreens.
I traded my Toyota CHR Hybrid Sol with the Peugeot 3008 Hybrid 2 and it's the best decision I have made so far. The Peugeot is much refined, classy, fast and efficient. I can drive in EV mode for 40 to 50 kms around town. When switched to Hybrid I can get 1.8 to 2.5 L/100km. With the CHR Hybrid the best efficiency I got was 3.9L/100kms. What I don't like about the Toyota Hybrids are their CVT transmission. A naturally aspirated engine without turbos will only make the engine more noisy and loose. With the Peugeot 3008 Hybrid it's quiet, instant and refined. With its 225HP turbo charged engine it can get up to speed easily. Unlike the CHR which is a bit slugging that I find it hard to safely overtake a slow moving vehicle because the acceleration is mediocre. Toyota learn from Peugeots. Put a turbo in your hybrid drive trains!
I think light touch (screen) designs apart from for audio or GPS controls are the biggest mistakes for new cars these days. German cars tends to go towards that direction too. It's too complicated while you are focusing on the road, easy to press the wrong keys, humidity at spring times, or simply when you have wet fingers. You may find it interesting to know that when people design aircraft cockpits, they do pay a lot of attention on how the buttons and knobs feels, as they provide extra information to the pilots to make sure that they are doing the right thing. To us, the much lower level layman car drivers, by worrying about whether which back window is open is a big trouble to many people carrying children or simply for someone being a bit slow for many reasons. I shall never consider any cars with such designs. Thus for car manufacturers all over the world, if you appealed to my advice, please go back to the drawing board.
Excellent review, but sadly Peugeot seem to have dropped the 2 litre diesel from the line up now. As I tow a caravan, the 1.5 litre diesel is really too small and the whole car has too light a kerbweight to make it a sensible choice for drivers that tow caravans/boats etc. Shame as its a beautiful looking car, packed with features but unfortunately I'll have to look elsewhere.
I live in Australia and have just purchased a 2022 Peugeot 3008GT with the 2.0L diesel engine. 2022 is the last of the 2.0L diesels (unfortunately). The 2012 308 I sold had the 2.0L diesel in it. It was fantastic - heaps of power. It is , by far, the best engine ever put into a Peugeot and is brilliant for Australian conditions. The new one is an adblue and that's a bit annoying but I can live with that. For Australian conditions the 1.2Tech just doesn't cut it.
@@allanbriggs807 Just had to top up my AdBlue. My model has a nozzle which is compatible with the truck nozzle. Just pull into the truck section of the Petrol station and fill up - easy. Warning sign came on at the right time so it seems OK - Have heard about problems with Adblue system. Mine seems to be perfectly ok.
Had a 3008 for 8 months, love the styling, love the dash, BUT, I think they ran out of money with the software, lag, response is awful, connects to phone doesn't connect to phone, really disappointing.
Except for a couple of years in the late 90's-early 2000's Peugeots have always been reliable - Ask any owners in Africa - Argentina and Australia, where you travel long distances over very average road surfaces. Had pEugeots for 50 years - never, and I mean never, had a major problem. I just service the cars regularly.
ive owned my 3008 1.6 petrol auto since 2017 and in general very happy, engine is more than capable and the handling is really good for an suv,the auto gear box is a little annoying at low speeds,it tries to pull away in second gear when still rolling but doesnt get going so you ease on the gas and it then shifts into first and shoots off,not a major issue just annoying.the worst thing is cabin noise at motorway speeds,im always checking the windows are rolled up thinking someone left a window slightly open.dont remember this being an issue when i first got the car but im looking at the XC40,RAV4 or TUSCON
4:24 Not really, Mazda CX5 has equally good (probably even better) material quality than 3008 for similar price (not equally interesting, but quality wise, absolutely). Other than those two, yes, the rest of them fall behind.
@@pap_chr5063 i did too. did you try the lower spec cx5? i tried top trim on both, but i noticed that base version of mazda doesn't have leather on central console, around door handles etc... and did you drive them? sound insulation is significantly better on CX5.
@@x3merx3mer No I didn't drive the Mazda but I have driven the 3008 base model. And it has way better than the cx5 in terms of quality and design. Even better than gla, xc40 etc
I loved Peugeot, I had a 2004 307, stayed with me for 10 years, it was just going and going....but, but the AC was down most of time. ....where...in...Saudi Arabia...if you dont have a good AC, your care worth nothing...why couldn't they just copy Japanese AC.sys, and used on Peugeot. anyway....no more Peugeot .for me.
For me Nissan Qashqai is a better choice. It has better Technology (for example an impressive HUD), better price and more sophisticated look. The 3008 isn't too bad either. I definitely prefer the look of it over the Tucson.
Peugeot have lost me. Used to be one of their biggest fans lol. I loved the 90s era 206, 306, 406! These new ones are bad cars, but they are too 'cool' and overly designed for me! Yummy Mummy cars lol. 😆
The 3008 is one of the best handling SUV around, definitely better than an Ateca, journalists needs to stop believing that firm suspension = good handling.

It's better if it has 4 wheel drive system for its petrol version, however I think Hybrid is the future, I recommend Hybrid 3008 more.
Preferred the older model don't like the facelift front end at all love my 2019 gt premium steering wheel is not an issue
I'm planning on buying a 2023 Peugeot 3008. I live in Mexico and I am scratching my head to choose between the 2023 Renault Koleos and this 2023 Peugeot 3008. I'm leaning more towards the 3008!
Does anybody have any insight on the Koleos?
I think it's important to point out that Advanced Grip Control is Not available on Hybrid versions.
Seen the new qashqai parked next to to per facelifted 3008 and the Nissan looks bland n dated compared to it
Good review, nice car, I'm going to buy one.
I really don't see why people make a big deal about the steering wheel. Any wheel can obstruct your view depending on your driving position and the wheels adjustment - even if you shift your body position during a journey.
Any chance you could mention the dimension of the cars as well. Thanks
Honest review. well done 👍
Imagine titling the video new changes and not mentioning night vision how strange
I'm not sure why the new branding isn't on this model
It's not on any model, save the new 308 which hasn't been released yet.
I drive one & less than 1 year of ownership there's an annoying rattles feom the dash, ans also very annoyingly wind noise at 70mph. 😭
there is also 150 and 180ps petrol.....
thank you very stylish Peugeot 3008, I like this car very much, wish you good health
Shouldn't you have posted this on a Pajero review?
The 3008’is by far the better looking SUV. The Seat and Skoda look identical, boxy and boring. I’ve taken a test drive in a 3008 but the small steering wheel put me off. I couldn’t get it into a position where I could see the screen. Also, I don’t like air conditioning systems buried in the touchscreens.
Best looking suv in class. A lot better than gla, x1, xc40
Puegeot 3008 and 5008😍😍
How many times are you going to call out the same brand. This is just biased advertising.
Reliability ?
For a tall person of 6,3 I think it will be ok 👍
Isn't the 1.2 underpowered?
I think it is. I made sure I bought one with the 2.0L diesel engine - a proven engine. Cannot kill it.
Are Peugeot reliable nowadays?
Except for a couple of years in the late 90's-early 2000's Peugeots have always been reliable - Ask any owners in Africa - Argentina and Australia, where you travel long distances over very average road surfaces. Had pEugeots for 50 years - never, and I mean never, had a major problem. I just service the cars regularly.
@@allanbriggs807 the emphasis on “nowadays”
OK the simple answer is "YES"@@joey-pn3xe
The answer is yes - especially if you are using the 2.0L diesel or the 1.6 Petrol engine@@joey-pn3xe
ive owned my 3008 1.6 petrol auto since 2017 and in general very happy, engine is more than capable and the handling is really good for an suv,the auto gear box is a little annoying at low speeds,it tries to pull away in second gear when still rolling but doesnt get going so you ease on the gas and it then shifts into first and shoots off,not a major issue just annoying.the worst thing is cabin noise at motorway speeds,im always checking the windows are rolled up thinking someone left a window slightly open.dont remember this being an issue when i first got the car but im looking at the XC40,RAV4 or TUSCON
Vauxhall Grandland if you want to avoid the shortcomings in 3008 - and in this color it is quite ugly.
4:24 Not really, Mazda CX5 has equally good (probably even better) material quality than 3008 for similar price (not equally interesting, but quality wise, absolutely). Other than those two, yes, the rest of them fall behind.
3008 has better quality than that Mazda I have sat in both
@@pap_chr5063 i did too. did you try the lower spec cx5? i tried top trim on both, but i noticed that base version of mazda doesn't have leather on central console, around door handles etc... and did you drive them? sound insulation is significantly better on CX5.
@@x3merx3mer No I didn't drive the Mazda but I have driven the 3008 base model. And it has way better than the cx5 in terms of quality and design. Even better than gla, xc40 etc
I loved Peugeot, I had a 2004 307, stayed with me for 10 years, it was just going and going....but, but the AC was down most of time. ....where...in...Saudi Arabia...if you dont have a good AC, your care worth nothing...why couldn't they just copy Japanese AC.sys, and used on Peugeot. anyway....no more Peugeot .for me.
good looking car, but citroen c5 aircross is even better looking....
Best car

The Peugeot 3008 is going into the uncool section, and that’s an end of it.
I own a 208 but I agree, something about that *look* on an SUV does look lame.. why is that??
@@russell.bishop The 208 is a small French car which makes it cool.
The 3008 is basically a taller 308.
Pre facelift is so much nicer, Peugeot never seem to do facelifts well…
spec savers for you
For me Nissan Qashqai is a better choice.

Toyota CH-R is the better option
that is the worst comment I've ever seen 😂
Better option if you want a worse car
It's an awful car, narrow rear windows, poor legroom, over designed and over priced.
Toyota chr is a pointless car
