  • ORANGE WORLD! Today we are taking a closer look at the Worlds Largest Orange on Highway 192! We will be looking at the entire property and then taking a closer look on the inside of this Kissimmee, FL landmark!
Hello and welcome to the World of Micah! I travel around filming everything and anything I find interesting -from theme parks to abandoned urban exploring. If you enjoy learning more about Disney history, tips & secrets or a fan of Disney World nostalgia you have come to the right place. I also enjoy showing Universal Studios history and taking a look of what’s left of from classic attractions like JAWS and ‪Back to the Future‬. More of an Urban Exploring fan? I travel around Central Florida and film everything from abandoned Toys “R” Us stores to abandoned attractions. I'm also a major Movie Buff! I have found the filming locations from such films as Edward Scissorhands & Halloween & Hocus Pocus!
    Let’s take a closer look!

Born in 88, man u missed the good ol days. 70s and early 80s orlando hwy 192 was crazy. Look into the holiday inn maingate west and its legacy. Zucchini the clown, sprinkles ice cream parlour and the electric mermaid arcade! I have loads of stories to tell. Also there is a secret about 192 that no one, absolutely no one has yet to cover. I was going to tell jackie just so she could be the first to cover the secret place.

Oh my I remember Zucchini the Clown a s the ice cream parlour at this holiday inn!! Please tell me: is it still there?

Welcome, Foolish Mortals! no, sadly the holiday inn maingate west closed. By the 90s hwy192 shifted and became fairly shady. The hotel fell into disrepair. Some kid from universal made a comedy youtube skit about it. Called ‘dikky bird” its hard to fins but its still up. The place filled in all of the pools and it became like the magic castle with a lot of homeless. Later some company bought the maingate west building and turned it into the red lion inn and spa. I called the once to book a room but they werent too friendly on the phone. In the 90s a lot of the hwy 192 hotels got bought up by indian families looking for a quick cash grab. In the 70s and 80s time share scammers would never be allowed inside. But now they allow them to set up right in the lobby. The family charm of 1970s, 80s old 192 is dead. Anyhow as for zucchini I guess he retired. He’d be pretty old now. He might be dead. I don’t know. He was an Orlando legend. The stories i could tell about old 192. I was at EPCOT Center on opening day. It was surreal. So much I could say and share. Wish micah or someone would interview me. Because there is a lot that younger folk dont know about those early years. I saved a lot of the old brochures from the 70s and 80s florida. Stars hall of fame, everything but water, xanandu, six gunn territory, etc.. I was there. Those were the days. But for me the EPCOT Center experience was tops and changed my life forever. The things I saw are hard to put into words. It was on another level. Horizons opened the next year in 83. Disney in my opinion. Still has never topped that one. It was another world man. Another era, another time. It was the 80s and I was tomorrows child.

Orange 🍊 World Travel Lodge always has a special place in our hearts because our very first trip to WDW in Dec.2009 with kids, saved for years to go and drove all the way from Wisconsin, long story short we were rained out from Fort Wilderness from our tents and they had a room for all 6 of us and it was cheap. We spent our first night there safe, warm and dry. And the staff was amazing as well. ❤️ Thanks for the memories. 😊

Me and my wifes first holiday to Florida was to Kissimmee in 1988. I don't remember seeing this but i might have a photo somewhere. Kissimmee in 1988 was such a quiet place. After returning from the parks at night there was nothing to do except stay in the hotel, but that's all changed now. Love your channel. Hello from England.🇬🇧❤️🇺🇸

We have a similar orange 🍊 shop in Fort Myers, FL but nothing this size of course...they sell all things orange, have orange ice cream, orange juice for free in tiny taste test cups, and ship oranges. They have a see through area where you see them processing the oranges and making the juice. More of a tourist shop BUT I did see locals buying random citrus fresh juice by the gallon! Must taste better than store bought that’s why the place stays open year round.

Thanks for this one! I am down there from Atlanta pretty often, twice a month or so. I always stay with relatives, but occasionally stay at the Hampton inn main gate which is just right there. I always stop by when I drive back home and grab two cases of navel oranges. Glad you stopped there and shared with everyone! 👍

Yes, and that movie accurately describes the condition of the area. They do take several miles of 192 and make it seem to be right next to each other, but the movie is accurate to the condition of the area. It is a cesspool of crime and depravity that isn't so evident driving through, but it is there. Blame whomever you want, but the area is garbage.

Nikki I remember those places that you mentioned. I've been going out there since the late 70's early 80's on Highway 192. That's one of the oldest store on Irlo Bronson Highway 192. Which is still in business as well. While many other businesses on Highway 192 sadly have closed down. Old Town has been there also for many years as well, Pacino's Restaurant across from Old Town too. I still remember one of the first water parks out there which was Water Mania, closed down too. A whole bunch of mom and pop hotels and motels, restaurants which are no longer there as well including a Howard Johnson restaurant next to the Hotel chain which sadly went out of business as well and you'll never see that restaurant chain around anymore. I believe I read awhile back there was one Howard Johnson's restaurant open in the United States. Like I mentioned before that store opened about or before Magic Kingdom opened in the year of 1971, about the same time we moved to Tampa, Florida just an hour's drive or less to Kissimmee. Back then 1-4 was only two lanes heading North East and two heading South West that we're opened back in the late 70's and 80's . And to those who remembered in Haines City just South of Kissimmee the park called Boardwalk And Baseball. Where Legoland is located now. And spring training home of the Kansas City Royals. I went there back in March 1989 before it closed down a few years later. It was a big nice park. And before in the early 80's it was a circus based attraction theme park which it didn't stay open for very long. I've got a lot stories about many places out there which are no longer around . God bless and stay safe!

Just a note here. the "bag your own" is because before the hotel was there, in that very spot was a giant warehouse where they had fruit shipped in and you could go over there and literally bag your own right out of the bins. Also it was called "orange ring" at one point I am assuming because the building was round and didnt have the cover on top. I think when they added that they changed to orange world. but I am not 100% on that but the warehouse behind it I am sure of as we went there once when we visited florida back before moving to florida.

@@worldofmicah I am not sure if any pictures of it exists originally. that was so long ago the only ones that would exist are people who might have an old photo they took on their trip to florida, in a dusty photo album hidden away in their attic. Would be nice if there was one out there somewhere!
