I was born in Oregon then went to college... joined the military.. lived in 14 states, three countries, two wars...I got out of the Army and the first thing I did was move back to Oregon after 17 years. I took my mom to a Duck game and they played this song. I had never heard it before and it blew me away how close it hit home (especially with 58,000 fellow Oregonians singing along) EDIT: Unfortunately Covid got mom on Valentines Day last year but at least she could say she saw a game in Autzen.

My Californian born and bred daughter, now a UofO freshman hasn't stopped thanking me for putting up the $ for her to attend and this is the song she sang with heartfelt emotion at Thanksgiving. Oregon you have my heart and soul!
I'm a 6th generation of pioneer Oregonians who are buried in the Pioneer Cemetery on U of O property. I grew up in Coos County Oregon for 28 years. I've lived in California and Washington for many years. This song encapsulates exactly how I feel about Oregon. I hope even non-Duck fans that have left their heart in Oregon can appreciate the sentiment like I do. Thank you, Mr. Kearney. Woody Guthrie would have been very proud of this song!
If it's the cemetery I remember on campus (how many can there be?) it was, oh, a hundred or two hundred yards away from the music building. Anyway, at that one I remember one of the dirt path/short cuts went right over a grave. We'd get drunk there sometimes.......... Ahhhh, mammaries.
Love that cemetery. My son, U of O student, took me on tour of the cemetery. The Civil War plots than the pioneer graves, all so moving. When my son first arrived at the university, he told me he was afraid of the cemetery, I told him it is a place rich in history and family love. Go read the grave stones, you will learn a lot. So before my next visit, he spent real time in the cemetery and surprised me by taking me on a beautiful tour

I miss this during Oregon football games. I'm dating someone from the bay area and when we'd go to games she never really understood what this means to Oregonians. People never will until they live here.
I have been waiting my entire life for someone to write a song like this about Oregon. A pop song with mild indie influences; a mix of acoustic and electric instrumentation; clever verse lyrics and an resoundingly uplifting chorus. Not too hot, not too cold, it's just right. It perfectly captures both the state itself and its unique place in every resident's heart. And, love them or hate them, the Ducks are more FUN to watch than just about any other team, in any sport, collegiate or professional.
Born in Eugene, Oregon, watched Duck games when you could sit anywhere and had my heart torn out so many times in the 4th quarter. Moved to Bay Area California in 1987 for my first real job, spent 10 years there then transferred to Northwest Washington, I was one of the very, very few Duck fans there. Continued to go to Duck games in mid 2000's, mandatory retirement in 2015, moved back to Central Oregon in 2017. This song hit home for a native son. Still brings a little moisture to the eyes. Go Ducks!
I grew up in Central Oregon and hadn’t been back in 25 years. (Currently in Texas) My girlfriend just bought us tickets to see my first home game for my birthday and I had never heard this before. I now have a new favorite song and it hits so close to home…and the experience was EVERYTHING I’d hoped it would be!
First time I heard this song was at my son's first game as a Duck. I'm a California man but I gotta say that song got me. Emotional day -- tribute to Veterans before the game (I'm a Navy guy), the game itself, the crowd, the spirit -- overwhelming. I love when they play this video and I hope they never stop. Gets me every damn time.
Born and raised in Oregon (minus 3 years in California when i was 5). Dad was Disc Jockey, went where the work was, Klamath Falls, Grants Pass, Salem, Portland, until I graduated High School in Grants Pass. That was the late 80's through the 90's, and I really can't remember a time of my life that was more open for exploration as a youth with the vast array of landscapes, rivers, coast lines, and open forests to traverse. I moved to Utah in 2001, always wanted my childhood experience in Oregon to pass on to my own kids, possibly move back some day. But there are too many freedoms I have currently that Oregon would not afford, such as my being a Gun owner, and the decline of Portland and various once beautiful towns and cities. Oregon has become California in many respects, and it saddens me to have so many fond memories of what was once a great State.
I'm stationed in Missouri but I was born and raised in Medford. I miss my state like crazy, this song brings back so many memories. We truly live in the best state in the Union. Can't wait to come home.

Native son of the south Florida born and ga-raised. Spent 4 AMAZING years in Oregon courtesy of Uncle Sam. I cannot begin to describe how much of myself I discovered the wildernesses of Oregon. If I discovered this song when I was prepping for my move I would probably have gotten out of the military and stayed. I truly have left a piece of myself out there.
my dad played this song all the time when I was little , just remembered it and looked it up immediately. I never lived in Oregon, but my dad did and this used to be my absolute favorite song. it makes me feel so happy. We used to visit Oregon every year for a family reunion when I was little and I truly do believe that I left my heart in Oregon. such an amazing place. My dad loves it there so much that his store is called famous in Oregon, a plant shop because plants are truly famous in Oregon.
Grew up in Oregon. Have not lived here since 1987, been in AZ. But went to the Ducks/Ohio St game yesterday and they played this. Not gonna lie this hit a little. Oregon is so beautiful.
I did leave my heart & soul in Oregon. Selling off everything in Pennsylvania and COMING HOME TO OREGON with this song on repeat for 3000 miles! I cry tears of joy when I hear this song.
Born and raised up the McKenzie River. Roamed the hills, floated the river and climbed a lot of trees. Played a lot of tackle football with the neighbors. Got to go to my first Oregon game when I was 12 and I was hooked! Never miss a chance to watch the games. I bleed green and yellow. Living in the state of Washington now, but waiting for that day when I can move back to Oregon. I can’t come too soon!
It makes me tear up every time I watch it. I moved away 12 years ago. You can take the girl out of Oregon, but you can't take Oregon out of the girl. It will always be home!
I've lived in Massachusetts my whole life but Oregon would definitely be one of the state's I would love to live in. I've grown up watching the Ducks. They just grew on me. I may be young but ORegon will always and forever be my home. I've spent all my 14 years of life here. I was born in Portland and have lived in Gresham for my whole life. I don't plan on living here forever but this will always be the place I come back to!
Born and raised in NJ, heard this song during the Boise St @ Oregon game this past Saturday, and it almost made me tear up. Beautiful song, beautiful state, and while Ive only visited twice (so far), I would love to live in Oregon. Doesnt feel as tight, cluttered and busy like the east coast and all the open space and places to run, I love it.
Thank you Mat, this song is so great. And you are so right. Oregon will always be my home. From one Oregonian to another you are awesome. And GO DUCKS !
I'm a die hard Coug fan from Seattle. My friends and I went to a WSU-UO game and they played this song and it was a great all around experience, definitely enjoyed my time visiting Autzen! PNW is unmatched! 💪😎
jabara83 Oregon wilderness... lol! Oregon is like anywhere else... There are backwater towns and metropoli... It is the land of my first love and I did leave my heart there. Some towns are smaller but all of them have heart. Portland is a cesspool of idiot liberals. You don't really get to know the flavor of the state until you get south of Eugene. It is there that men and women live interesting lives. The land of the Douglas Fir is where true Oregonians are born.
Jeff Newcomb Agreed the great loggers and sad to say oregon is being known for fucking portland. I love the deschutes county too central oregon. Oregon was once known for its mountain men and hard working middle class not all the fucks from california are moving up
Graham Thalacker They invaded Oregon in their bike shorts and SUVs, pocketing enough money from selling their two room shacks in San Jose to buy OMSI.... They drove up housing prices until normal folk couldn't afford to buy a home and raised taxes or increased regulations until they couldn't find a job.... Now they think giving people who work at Micky D's $15 an hour will somehow appease the downtrodden masses they've created.... I appreciate their good intentions but loathe the unintended consequences of their naivety. I doubt I'll ever return because the place that I remember, the land of my first love, doesn't really exist anymore.
Jeff Newcomb It does exist I could live up in the sisters, by the southern coast of oregon, I could also live in central oregon. There are spots not invaded by the leeches.
+Jeff Newcomb nah man just everything north of Beaverton is mostly liberalish........don't be dissin us north valleyman!!!!......we are mostly conservative
My daughter goes to UO I was born in Mexico, but when I hear this song Autzen stadium at the football game during parents weekend it sounds chills through my spirit , love this song , Go Ducks 🫶
I also left my heart in Oregon, that being my daughter at the U of O. Such an incredible place, over my many visits to the state I also have fallen in love. This song was played at her recent graduation, brought me to tears.
I headed out Down interstate 5 My money was all spent But I felt so alive I was chasing down the dream Like you always thought me to But the evergreens and caffeine Still remind me of you [Chorus] I'm coming home to the place that I remember Back to the land of my first love Would you spread wide your arms for this wayward son? I left my heart in Oregon I left my heart in Oregon [Verse 2] Well the Northwest air brings the fast boys to town Be like fire on the Cascades When our feet touch the ground [Chorus] I'm coming home to the place that I remember Back to the land of my first love Would you spread wide your arms for this wayward son? I left my heart in Oregon I left my heart in Oregon [Bridge] Cause in my mind is a memory Tastes so good, it's bittersweet Of cheap champagne and a victory [Chorus] I'm coming home to the place that I remember Back to the land of my first love Would you spread wide your arms for this wayward son? I left my heart in Oregon I left my heart in Oregon [Outro] Oh, I left my heart in Oregon Yeah, I left my heart in Oregon
I used to live in Oregon. I made amazing friends throughout my time there. I went to beautiful places and experienced unimaginable things. I live in Oklahoma now and am having the same experiences and I love it but I will always be an Oregonian at heart. For the rest of my life. ❤️🌲

I'm an Oregon boy born and raised back road baby threw and threw my best memories and driving to fast down some old logging roads blaring music and shooting rifles and just enjoying nature

I may be young but ORegon will always and forever be my home. I've spent all my 14 years of life here. I was born in Portland and have lived in Gresham for my whole life. I don't plan on living here forever but this will always be the place I come back to!
Moving here next week! I'm so psyched to live in the Pacific Northwest again!
Maddy Broedel where do you currently live?
ventura80503 currently Eugene, go Ducks! Before the Midwest.
Damn it. Leave. Too many people here.

IM FROM THE PHILIPPINES AND IT WOULD BE A DREAM COME TRUE IF I LIVE HERE IN OREGON 🥰!
It's sad that the ducks aren't in the pac 12 anymore
Born and raised in NJ, heard this song during the Boise St @ Oregon game this past Saturday, and it almost made me tear up. Beautiful song, beautiful state, and while Ive only visited twice (so far), I would love to live in Oregon. Doesnt feel as tight, cluttered and busy like the east coast and all the open space and places to run, I love it.
Born and raised in Oregon. I fell in love with it and wouldn't rather live anywhere else in the world.❤️❤️❤️

541 central Oregon born and raised still here growing a bunch of ganja I love it here and will never leave!
I heard this song on the lottery commercial, and I just fell in love with it. I wish they would make a video showcasing more of the oregon wilderness
jabara83 Oregon wilderness...
+Jeff Newcomb nah man just everything north of Beaverton is mostly liberalish........don't be dissin us north valleyman!!!!......we are mostly conservative
born and “raised” in Oregon and I just moved to Texas I’m feeling homesick right about now

That's me with my arms spread at the 3:12 mark! Love this song and video! Thanks Mat!
This song helps where I live in Oregon in COVID-19 this will probably help us have the world back to normal
I headed out
Down interstate 5
My money was all spent
But I felt so alive
I was chasing down the dream
Like you always thought me to
But the evergreens and caffeine
Still remind me of you
[Chorus]
I'm coming home to the place that I remember
Back to the land of my first love
Would you spread wide your arms for this wayward son?
I left my heart in Oregon
I left my heart in Oregon
[Verse 2]
Well the Northwest air brings the fast boys to town
Be like fire on the Cascades
When our feet touch the ground
[Chorus]
I'm coming home to the place that I remember
Back to the land of my first love
Would you spread wide your arms for this wayward son?
I left my heart in Oregon
I left my heart in Oregon
[Bridge]
Cause in my mind is a memory
Tastes so good, it's bittersweet
Of cheap champagne and a victory
[Chorus]
I'm coming home to the place that I remember
Back to the land of my first love
Would you spread wide your arms for this wayward son?
I left my heart in Oregon
I left my heart in Oregon
[Outro]
Oh, I left my heart in Oregon
Yeah, I left my heart in Oregon
Best unofficial anthem EVER! Love me my OREGON. Thanks, Mat.
I used to live in Oregon. I made amazing friends throughout my time there. I went to beautiful places and experienced unimaginable things. I live in Oklahoma now and am having the same experiences and I love it but I will always be an Oregonian at heart. For the rest of my life. ❤️🌲
