Reading the comments on that video truly shows how much went into it! Imagine how difficult it was to convince an entire Orchestra who likely never even heard of Attack on Titan to start practicing songs written in a mix of Japanese and German, and then to perform it live!
@NoctisloligGrissini is the piano guy. He did a lot of "video game, film and anime music", with some friends or alone, as you can see with the other videos of his channel. But this orchestra that he recruited for this requiem had nothing to do with him before, so DXDragon38 has right (and he talked about that in a FAQ video).
Attack on Titan is even better with second time watching ;). There is a lot of stuff you can spot now after you know the ending and later seasons. Mikasa and the praying mantis (Female decapitating it's lover), Ymir and the cans (and calling titan with fur "Ape"....animal species that do not exist in Paradise) etc etc
25:55 They actually practiced getting that Page flip down perfectly to make it sound like the scout regiment slapping their fists on their chests to salute! SHINZOU WO SASAGEYO!!!
Ohhh😮I'm Japanese, but I didn't know about the existence of this classical concerts. This is a cover of "Attack on Titan music " by a traditional European orchestra, right? It was a very interesting concert. The atmosphere is completely different from the Japanese original sound. Beautiful!
its an absolute masterpeice that im glad you reacted to. Grissini project have done many such masterpeices, their absolutely amazing and put so much effort into it.
I already knew Grissini Project before I even watched AoT, so it's amazing to see them combined in this brilliant tribute. Went for the CD on their Kickstarter since this was apparently a very expensive project for them - a full orchestra, two choirs, two solo vocalists and a famous concert hall in Stockholm - and I always want to support "quality over quantity" as they put it. There's plenty of AoT things for you to react to, don't worry Luke 😉 Did you know that Linked Horizon has a lot of AoT-related songs that did not appear in the anime? For example "14-Moji no Dengon" which is about Eren's mother. There's even an entire concert of those songs but I don't think the full thing is on TH-cam sadly
@@nitramnagrom3574 Pretty much all that are in singles/albums with "Shingeki" in the title are related to AoT. The ones that did not appear in the anime: - Moshi Kono Kabe no Naka ga Ikken no Ie Dato Shitara - Nikagetsu-go no Kimi e - 14-moji no Dengon - Saigo no Senka - Kami no Miwaza - Souyoku no Hikari - Kanojo wa Tsumetai Hitsugi no Naka de - Tasogare no Rakuen - Kakumei no Yoru ni - 13 no Fuyu (although this one was partially reused in the final credits song)
They truly captured the epic essence of the show! Props to the entire orchestra & singers. I’ve never seen anything like AOT. It’s the anime that reintroduced me to the medium. Regardless of views. Think of it as your passion reaction 😊
I'm not going to get bored of saying that I love this man's reactions to attack on titan. They are the same as mine. I would like to sometime share a cup of coffee commenting on everything Snk. Greetings from Chile.
Love your reactions man! I'm definitely one of the 4 guys crying with you. Also just a suggestion, do a rewatch series with your wife! I would love to see her reactions to this alongside your second watch 😊
Glad to see this masterpiece get more recognition! Edit: Sorry my comment seems a bit vague. I was talking about the music video and not the show incase someone misunderstood 😅
I. Have. Been. DYING! To see your reaction ever since this came out. I listened to this with my wife and immediately we looked at each other and said.. “HAS GOT GAMES REACTED TO THIS YET?!!?!” We counted the days until you did and my enjoyment has been completed.
Peak is back! But man, i was absolutely blown away by this when it first came out. Absolutely beautiful! Also, do i miss AOT. It really was a once in a lifetime experience. 😢
I really hope they come up with another story as great as this one in my lifetime but, I won't be holding my breath lol. If you do watch it a second time (totally worth a rewatch if not required lol) ill be tuning in XD Great videos and had an awesome time watching your experience!
Shinzo wo sasageyo was performed live by linked horizon. I believe this should be the part 2 of your part 1 reaction to linked horizon's live performance.🎉
You can have whatever opinion you want about AoT and think it's not the masterpiece I consider this story is. But when you are talking about the OST composed by Sawano and Yamamoto, the only correct opinion is that it is an absolute MASTERPIECE.
the lyrics that were sung in XL-TT are not the actual lyrics in the original song (which was more like gibberish, not an actual language - apparently used specifically for music). They added this specifically for this performance by this orchestra
The final song of Linked Horizon when the last chapter ended To you, in 2000 ... or 20000 Years [Verse 1] Not knowing the names of the mourning flowers After the birds have flown away The plants and trees bud again, and spring returns once more Leaving behind the winter [Verse 2] Even though I sing songs of resentment with the passing seasons You will never return again The last kiss that colored red was from me And from no one else [Chorus] The warmth that envelops my trembling neck I will face this cold countless times [Instrumental] [Verse 3] As time carriеs on, gentle days Like flowers offered as tribute The hidden words go to the grave without telling anyone You might also like [Verse 4] Requiem, requiem If you're to scatter sins Let dawn illuminate the flowers you loved on the cypress [Bridge] When the world has broken the boy's sword He will reach the top of the skyscraper And look down on the Tower of Babel with laughter Hate and worry are a double-edged plane History repeats itself [verse 5] Fruitful and abundant, the earth is filled The steel bird is released into the sky Freedom becomes a crimson bow and arrow Repeating many times [Chorus] Unable to throw away the stones we throw back The diseased humanity gazes at the sky The bow and arrow of Hades, similar to a meteor History repeats itself And becomes "zero" again [Outro] Can you hear it? Leaving the forest No matter how many times we get lost on the path Even on the scorched field Plants and Trees bud In the hollow great tree that saw everything La-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Yes the first one was XL-TT. XL-TT really first stood out in S1E7 when we see the Attack Titan (not knowing it’s Eren) face off that one titan he ended up decapitating. I think it was also the theme for when Armin’s colossal titan first shows up and blows up Marley’s navy. Those cello and violin solos right after XL-TT is part of youseebiggirl, it’s the instrumental part of youseebiggirl.
The lyrics of youseebiggirl mention "Rumbling" REPEATEDLY. There's no way in HELL they didn't know. Yeah, Attack on Titan is maybe the only show I've ever seen that can stand toe to toe with Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. It's the Yang to FMA's Yin. Where FMA leaves you emotionally fulfilled in the most perfect circle kind of way, Attack on Titan leaves you feeling a beautiful kind of hollow sadness. FMA's message may as well be "everyone and everything matters", while AOT's is a question, "does anything we do matter at all?". I'd always thought they were pretty close, but could never say with certainty until I saw the last episode, especially given the ending's reputation from the manga, but yeah, it measures up. And it makes sense, Arakawa and Isayama both planned out their stories with a legitimately scary amount of forethought and care. Arakawa knew from before she'd even started writing or drawing every single plot point and all the major character interactions and dynamics. All the foreshadowing in Chapter 1 of AOT is FUCKING INSANE. There's a trick some writers pull where in long running stories without specific plans for plot points, the writers will go back and find moments from earlier in their stories that get treated like they were foreshadowing after the fact. One Piece does this a lot, you'll see something vaguely alluded to in chapter 175 or something that doesn't pay off until chapter 570 and it's because there wasn't actually a specific plan in place for it yet, and it's only later on that Oda looks back and goes "oh, I figured out what that thing in 175 could be" and writes it back into relevance. FMA and Attack on Titan do not do this, and you can feel it, especially on rewatches. You go back and pay attention to Reiner, Annie, and Berthold before the big reveal and you'll see what I'm talking about.
AoT clearly shaped so many people's lives. Yet I'd say so many are yet to experience its songs, especially those in Japanese. Linked Horison released so many tribute songs for the show, whose subs I haven't found yet. I recently got to know "13 winters", which was a tribute to Mikasa, with her VA Yui Ishikawa singing. I strongly recommend you to try it.
4:55 I know the feeling. I was astounded, too. Just imagining that they put their time and effort into making this anime ost (take note, ANIME) possible to play in an orchestra was insane. One thing also, I bawled my eyes out too.
The AOT Orchestra was so emotional and absolutely awesome how it should be! I highly reccomend Attack on Titan Junior High Anime! It's a funny and cute Animeshow with 12 Episodes! You'll gonna love it ❤
There is a video of the voice actors doing the last lines of AOT anime and they are very invested in it, it´s a nice video to watch with a great ending, I recommend to check it :)
Also! Yes! Hiroyuki Sawano intended to convey perspectives from within the show when crafting the sounds and lyrics to the OSTs! All of them! Additionally, Isayama would guide the lyrics for Linked Horizon, Ai Higuchi, ANYONE who performed an OP or ED would intentionally have clues and easter eggs littered throughout the lyrics! It’s all intended!
I was looking for this comment to see if anyone had mentioned "Apple Seed". I can't believe I've been scrolling down for a while and yours is the first comment about it I see. That OST deserves more love!
Friend, you need to analyze the lyrics of the complete songs of the openings and endings of attack on titan, they are beautiful. They are an integral part of understanding the story and how they told us details through their letters.
In the lyrics of the songs from even the first season, you can see that they are talking about the end of the story. Sawano is a genius, I can only say thank you. 😭😍🥹
It was amazing and really emotional attack on titans was my 2nd anime and I think it’s the best I ever watched ! I made playlists on my channel, so you don't need to search, cause in those compilations are a few off and not in the correct order. Thanks for checking out!
Luke please at some point watch the live action AOT films, now I'm not saying they're good ( far from it infact ) but the absolute contrast in story it takes from the main show is so fascinating ( plus some of the titan fights are genuinely amazing ) so Luke please, devote your heart and watch the films!
I live in Japan. This is what I see when I try to watch the original video: Video unavailable This video contains content from VISO Music, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds F*ck.
People hate the ending not because they wanted happy ending, we basically got happy ending, people who are mad wanted 100% rumbling + at least some of aliance dieing in finnal battle, and that's not counting character assassinations, useless twist about Eren killing his own mom, Ymir bullshit etc... And just to make clear, I'm indifferent about it, I don't hate it but I can see the criticism

The final song of Linked Horizon when the last chapter ended
To you, in 2000 ... or 20000 Years
[Verse 1]
Not knowing the names of the mourning flowers
After the birds have flown away
The plants and trees bud again, and spring returns once more
Leaving behind the winter
[Verse 2]
Even though I sing songs of resentment with the passing seasons
You will never return again
The last kiss that colored red was from me
And from no one else
[Chorus]
The warmth that envelops my trembling neck
I will face this cold countless times
[Instrumental]
[Verse 3]
As time carriеs on, gentle days
Like flowers offered as tribute
The hidden words go to the grave without telling anyone
You might also like
[Verse 4]
Requiem, requiem
If you're to scatter sins
Let dawn illuminate the flowers you loved on the cypress
[Bridge]
When the world has broken the boy's sword
He will reach the top of the skyscraper
And look down on the Tower of Babel with laughter
Hate and worry are a double-edged plane
History repeats itself
[verse 5]
Fruitful and abundant, the earth is filled
The steel bird is released into the sky
Freedom becomes a crimson bow and arrow
Repeating many times
[Chorus]
Unable to throw away the stones we throw back
The diseased humanity gazes at the sky
The bow and arrow of Hades, similar to a meteor
History repeats itself
And becomes "zero" again
[Outro]
Can you hear it? Leaving the forest
No matter how many times we get lost on the path
Even on the scorched field
Plants and Trees bud
In the hollow great tree that saw everything
La-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
