I am amazigh, I did a DNA test it turns out I'm mainly berber and a bit european (france, italy). but well, I'm 100% kabylie from Algeria. And berbers are not black, we are mainly light olive skin with hazel/green eyes (some are lighter some are darker and it depends on climate too) and we have small noses and women have high cheek bones (very different from people from the middle east where i lived). Algerian women do NOT have nose jobs like the arabs and Persians. Also, Berbers have very deep expressive eyes, that's the way I personally recognize them no matter what they look like. we are the mediterranean race.

Iberians have Berber blood. It's a fact. Our great grandmothers and grandfathers a millennium ago were Islamic Berbers and Arabs that pilgrimaged to the Iberian Peninsula and lived their for centuries until the Roman Catholic church invasion.
I noticed that the Iberians that deny it are the devote Catholics that don't like the fact that our people were Muslims.
Until you look past your prejudice, you can't handle the truth.

Berber at 1.7% along with Italian 6.5%. Apparently after the Romans invaded Britain they had a garrison of about 500 Berber troops up at Hadrians Wall. I truly believe I am descended from one of these soldiers. 500 was a lot of people back in those times. How else would I have Berber ancestors in Protestant England?

anoniempjeeeuh "Using anthropology, etymology, and quoted comments from the Egyptians themselves, we have no trouble in tracing the "Tawny Moor" or white Berber to the group known as the Libyan and from the Libyan to Tamahu. Besides the historical accounts of these 'whites', which is demonstrated on the farmed palate of Narmer-Menes(if we are taking into consideration visual evidence), and the statuary of Rehotep and consort Nofret, we have the written testimony of these 'white' Libyans on the Wady-Magharah which contains several memorials to the ancient kings of Egypt. The Wady- Magharah states that in the Sixth Dynasty, "Pepi I. Was the conqueror of the Tamahu...the foreign people who in this time dwelt in the valley of caverns [cavemen]." Rita Maria It's funny how people think North Africa was first inhabited by whites. Check out the founding of Morocco for example:
"Yusuf was Abu Bakar's cousin and so naturally was a black African. DuBois describes him: "Yusuf their leader (the Almoravids), was himself a Negro. The Roudh-el-Kartos,' a Moorish work, describes him as having 'wooly hair' and being brown in color" (76)Yusuf proved to be a wise and capable leader."In the year 1062 Yusuf laid the foundation of the town of Morocco with his own hands, and not long afterwards declared the independence of the northern kingdom of which it was to become the capital."(77) Thus, a black moor appropriately founded the city of Morocco. (Ivan Van Sertima, Golden Age of the Moor, pg 173).

Most Algerian, Moroccans, Tunisians are Berbers and even the ones that have in themselves Arab genes that gene will not even reach the 60% in most cases means that even the people who claim they Arabs they are in fact not. Also one thing to mention is that recent DNA studies showed that Berbers shared a common ancestor with the Sami people which are tribes living in countries like Norway, Sweden, Russia and others. This might also explain the variation and complexity of the Berber genome in general.

***** They are not heavily mixed. The Berber genome in most of North Africans is present in higher percentage than all the genomes you mentioned above. And this is without counting the m-DNA (Only passed through the mother).

    • @Ging_10
      @Ging_10 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

***** You are wrong. Most scientific papers dont agree that the Maghreb populations are heavily mixed. A complex genetic history yes but not heavily mixed cause the isolation of the populations in the Maghreb lead to the appearance of the Berber marker. So most of Maghreb people have more genes in common and are not so different. Cause if this was the case then why we dont see distinctive differences between Algerians or Moroccans or Tunisians?? Whether in culture, language, or even appearance. For example in Latin America they are also heavily mixed but you can still clearly tell the Europeans from the Natives. So I wouldnt say that North Africa is heavily mixed but rather had varied influences from different places that contributed to the population of today. And our original culture is Berber and not Arabic.

For information, the touaregs have a very high sub-saharian admixture so they are afro-berbers afrocentrics love to say that touaregs are the true berbers because they are black which is false. Berbers were never black they were diverse pale skinned to brown. Nice video btw.

FALSE!!!!!!!!! BERBERS ORIGINATED FROM THE SAHEL FULANI REGION IN AFRICA 10 THOUSAND YEARS AGO, THEY MOVED TO NORTH AFRICA BEFORE THE SAHARAN D/ESSERT WAS FORMED. WHEN THE DESSERT CAME TO BE THE BERBERS WERE ISOLATED FROM THE REST OF THE AFRICANS AND OVER TIME EVOLVED TO BECOME LIGHTER, BUT WHITE BERBERS ARN'T TRUE BERBERS AS THEY ARE MIXED IN FROM PRE ISLAMIC AND CHRISTIAN AND PHONECIAN SETTLERS.

Well I'm amazigh or how some of you call it, 'berber'. I speak tmazight and tmazight only. I've been searching a long time for answers. I can confirm that we are our own race. Some things in your video aren't facts I must say. First of all, there are no arab people in north-west Africa, only arabized amazigh people who lost their identity through the century/centuries. Centuries of arabism through Africa made this horrible thing happen. The assimilation happens in Egypt only but still there are people in the east of Egypt at the Siwa Oasis who fully stick to their roots. You can call Egypt a 'buffer-zone' so to speak. Also, there are imazighen who are very dark. They ae found in the south of Morocco, south of Algeria, south of Libya, in Mauritania, Mali, Niger, North of Nigeria, and in the north of Chad. The amazigh haplo-group is E, a whole other Y-DNA profile. West-European haplogroup is R (R1B) and the arab is J. These three are in no circumstance the same.

geerenmo "Using anthropology, etymology, and quoted comments from the Egyptians themselves, we have no trouble in tracing the "Tawny Moor" or white Berber to the group known as the Libyan and from the Libyan to Tamahu. Was the conqueror of the Tamahu...the foreign people who in this time dwelt in the valley of caverns [cavemen]." (Ivan Van Sertima, Golden Age of the Moor, pg 16).

Rita Maria It's funny how people think North Africa was first inhabited by whites.

Nas 94 there are 3 reasons why berber are blonde
      1) because there is a germanic people from germany/danmark/west poland named "vandal" who conquered and mixed with berber from 429 to 534
      you can google them "vandals"
      2) the 1.5 millions white european slave during ottoman empire 1515-1830 + the foreign european workers in ottoman empire. about 25% mixed with a local berber & another 25% of them simply assimilated to the berber ottoman society
      3) when they conquered spain and portugal. they also mixed with the blonde wisigoth (germanic tribe that conquered and lived in spain)

Mathew Van Ostin what about the guanches, the indigenous people of canary islands ?

    • @matthewvanostin5513

Nas 94 when the vandals were defeated by byzantine roman empire in 534. they all fled to the moumtain of kabylie/aures/morrocan atlas
why? because roman empire were looking for them. and they know roman would not bother do the high difficult task to search all the mountains of north africa (it takes too much energy and time). so they took refuge in the mountain. mixing with berbers their allies
but some were soo scared of the roman that they fled mega west until the berber canary islands & they mixed with the locals
so the guanche are germanic vandals refugee that escaped roman empire & mixed with their berbers allies. assimilating their culture

I became interested in Bebers. My mother is Iberian and my father(sadly who I do not know) is of Algerian origin. My mother, growing up, would tell me how my step brothers are blonde with big blue eyes. I never understood why I came out so blonde if, in fact, my father was "Arabic".

Mokrane Ddaoun "Using anthropology, etymology, and quoted comments from the Egyptians themselves, we have no trouble in tracing the "Tawny Moor" or white Berber to the group known as the Libyan and from the Libyan to Tamahu. Was the conqueror of the Tamahu...the foreign people who in this time dwelt in the valley of caverns [cavemen]." The history of North African didn’t start with the Middle East. My West African Ancestors were mix with Berber. The Berbers are not Middle Eastern. Stop separating North African from the rest of Africa. It’s also sad how the dark skin Berbers are been treated in North Africa.

Only an ignorant would claim such thing . Educated people are aware of North African not being white , Arab or European they are African just like any other Africans in the same continent. The majority who claim to be Arab happen to be Muslims who were Arabized and have adopted Islam. But Arabs and Islam have nothing to do with Ancient Egypt or any other North African ancient civilization.

nope, more likely Greco-Romans from the greek colonies established there around 1000 BC according to Herodotus and later from the conquest of Alexander and the Ptolemaic dynasty who ruled Egypt for 275 years, as much as 30 percent of the population of Faiyum was Greek during the Ptolemaic period. The last Pharaoh was a Greek princess, Cleopatra. After that the Romans took control and they recorded that in some cities the populations were mostly greek or mixed greek and native. so sorry.

I've often wondered if Amazigh ended up as Altlantean as it went from ancient Tmazight through ancient Egyptian and into ancient Greek. A high culture with it's own language, writing system, norms and customs, but with no defined point of origin is mysterious. Yet it is found among various Mediterranean cultures from N.A. to Spain, to Israel, and beyond. It seems like a people that were scattered a long time ago, but held onto the majority of their deeply rooted culture. It's a beautiful mystery surrounding a very interesting culture.

I think barbars were part of larger African sub-race closely related with the people inhabited North Eastern part of Africa. You may mistook them as Eritrean somalis or Ethiopians . Besides, early historians called somali cost "Land of black barbars" and evidently, Barbara port city still exist as thriving modern city in Northern Somalia 's gulf of Adan.
Disclaimer: Am not out to distort anyone's history.

+Mourad Pasha the Somalis are paternally closely related to other Afro-Asiatic-speaking groups in Northeast Africa.[77][78][79] Besides comprising the majority of the Y-DNA in Somalis, the E1b1b1a (formerly E3b1a) haplogroup also makes up a significant proportion of the paternal DNA of Ethiopians, Sudanese, Egyptians, Berbers, North African Arabs, as well as many Mediterranean populations.[78][80] Sanchez et al. (2005) observed the M78 subclade of E1b1b in about 77% of their Somali male samples.[77] According to Cruciani et al. (2007), the presence of this subhaplogroup in the Horn region may represent the traces of an ancient migration from Egypt/Libya.[79] After haplogroup E1b1b, the second most frequently occurring Y-DNA haplogroup among Somalis is the West Asian haplogroup T (M184).[81] The clade is observed in more than 10% of Somali males generally,[77] with a frequency peak of 82.4% among Somalis in Dire Dawa.[82] Haplogroup T, like haplogroup E1b1b, is also typically found among other populations of Northeast Africa, the Maghreb, the Near East and the Mediterranean.

    Berbers:
These are the light-skinned Africans not related to Arabs by DNA. Arabs went to North Africa in the 7th Century.
The Ottoman Empire in Morocco'/ Algeria in the 11th Century. French Montana ( Musician) and Muammar Qadaffi are both Berber.
The Amazigh are not Arabs ( Saudi Arabia/ Kuwait). They are not by DNA the same as Black Africans ( Kenya/ Nigeria). They are a unique Mediterranean People.

God doesnt distinquish ur human origin, Arabs are the ones WHO speak arabic, its not a race this is what the prophet Muhammad Said, now, in truth all muslims Are amazigh, free of monarch rule and the only one WHO should ever determine the fate of our lively hood is God. Again, the berbers is a proud and strong folk, that is why salahuddin placed berber warrirors to guard al-Aqsa m, we are recognized and honored. But dont fool ur self with arrogance as on the day of judgement we shall all be judged equally in the fairness of God.
