This tiny, brilliant diamond has the potential to become one of the most powerful and influential people in the music industry. She writes symphonies, scores films and commercials, writes and performs great jazz, is one of the most effective and emotionally aware classical concert pianists I've ever heard, can improv anything, even classical music. I can imagine she will become one of the baddest jazz pianists ever. There are no limits.
She has to be very careful with and wise! People will dupe her into he distraction...if they can't use her the way they wanted to control her. You an do it your way girl
When you contemplate humanity, the human condition, human excellence, artistry, innocence, purity, love, light, wonder, magic, spirit, and essence of talent, achievement, and the magnificence that some of our fellow world citizens wield....its beyond the scope of normal thought, Its a wonder, its gives me strength, it makes me glad to be alive, its a treasure for our collective spirit to marvel at, be inspired by, and take hope in. Its one of those rare moments when you are reassured we humans are capable of great things, good things...decent things. This child has me captured in all ways that I hold most precious,
+Andrew Marks yeah you re right: there are now so many unhappy people, who don't like human life anymore ! they should read your comment and listen to Emily even though I know it might not be enough to give back strength to it
The most gifted young pianist I have heard in over 60 years ....and I have heard several hundred....the Lord 's gifts are truly marvellous and Emily is one of God's treasures without question ....she is beyond the title prodigy .....that is how gifted this young lady is ....What a talent ....Let your ears experience the amazing sounds of Emily Bear!!!!
There is always such pleasure in her face while she’s playing. You can tell she loves what she is doing! What a gift and I’m so happy I can listen to her play!
This selection is my favorite CD of hers and do I ever love hearing her play. I don't mean hearing others play her music, I mean listening to HER play. She has such a gift! Not just for composing but for playing. Her fingers on the keys bring magic. She doesn't play just the notes of a piece, she plays the heart of it.
OMG. When you get goose bumps from hearing a jazz musician play with their soul you know its good. But from a gifted young lady who has not even hit her best yet to come, America can be very proud of her.
The drummer rocks and he clearly had the test of his career keeping time for her. She actually knows every note the others need to play. I am so happy to have found her today; an inspiration for all of us. Thanks Emily, just let it flow as you feel it to the day you die. Please don't let the garbage dump music industry abuse you for their own profit.
I'm sure your familiar with drummer John Robinson. He was a member of Quincy Jone's "In the house band" for many years and still works for David Foster on different gigs. I know he recently played at the charity event, Celebrity Fight Night in Phoenix. Also the great session drummer Hal Blaine recently passed away, February 5, 1929 - March 11, 2019. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hal_Blaine
Emily is the Gem of the Northern Lights! It was pure delight to be in the audience to see & hear her warm, versatile, indellible performance in Mesa, Arizona. --Emily is genuine & a rare unique gift to our human race.
Emily Bear, living proof of the light, may she be blessed beyond her years. Thank you Quincy Jones for extending your hand and heart to help brighten our day.
Emily needs to he protected at all costs. Her talent is rare and phenomenal. Quincy Jones is my mentor. I know he will make sure nothing happens to her and will keep her focused.
Her original composition. Boy, oh boy do I agree with all the comments below. And that GRIN just kills me. Elegance personified. Thank you, Mr. Quincy Jones, for seeing the future of this young talent and helping her to follow the right road. "The music is only as good as the person playing it".
Dear Quincy, you did a great job finding such a great artist. I'm sure she will grow up over and over again till your amazing level! Best regards from Roma, Italia.
She could play the Eureka Syfy theme easy. She is truly one gifted and amazingly blessed young lady. I hope she continues to expand to great things even more than this.
I have been following Emily's career for quite a few years and I'm so happy to see her being taken as seriously as she deserves. She is a true musical genius, not merely a child prodigy. I make the distinction because the idea of a child prodigy is how early they show abilities normally expected of adults. By the time most of them get to be adults, they 'level off' to rather unexceptional degrees of talent in comparison to their peers. Emily has surpassed adult composers and is still rising fast
Just one of the entertaining elements here is that we are treated to the pretty rare spectacle of both drummer and bassist actually reading notes and turning pages as they play. Another chuckle is that we see Emily directing her sidemen from her piano. After many views, I still marvel that Emily wrote and arranged the piece and that all this beautiful, original music sprang from her fertile mind at the age of 11. As another commenter said, and as her recent Grammy nomination at the age of 20 proves, there are no limits for her.
This girl is on an entirely different level of genius. It's amazing to think there are people born with talent like this. She's one in a billion people.
I also want to add that I have been studying music for over 59 years and I can truly respect her musical talent which comes out in the forefront so naturally that it is almost effortless for Emily but not for most of mankind.....Yet I am so thankful for the gifts which Emily shares with humankind in such a humble and most selfless manner.....She is a Godsend in a world where we often accept mediocrity or just plain "it's good enough" when we know otherwise ....
thank you Quincy for a generous spirit in not only finding this gem of a musician but allowing us mere mortals to hear what she can do on the one of the grandest of stages
I love your music young Lady... it's my first time to appreciate a piano player with her own music to tell... am enjoying whole being while seejng enjoying your craft... tbank YOU LORD GOD ...
Andrew Marks. I couldn't have put it better. Where does that genius come from? How does the human brain work way beyond normality? Yes... I'm glad to be alive as well when I see young brilliant mastery of whatever they find in their hearts and souls.
This girl is surreal... and she's about to enter that difficult pupa stage of her life where many things change. Please do everything you can to make sure her music creativity survives. She's one of the most talented composers alive I've ever come across.
I know today...I'm hearing and feeling miracles flowing right out of this God's creation young lady..who is sharing her talent with so many...Thank you Emily Bear...her parents and family and all the there musians who try to keep up I'm sure...fly on precious lady!
I'd like to remind us that Emily Bear wrote all of the songs on the Diversity album. This is a moment for us to use one of those "what have I done with my life" hashtags. I humbly admit that I had not achieved this by the time I was eleven years old.
I think it's a reference to the old term of someone being the "bee's knees". Definitely not small in stature. Just a lovely young lady with an incredibly huge talent. What an inspiration. Prodigies tend toward jazz for a reason...jazz and blues have a style and soul that can be referenced by anyone. An appreciator of the old greats (Mozart, etc.) and an appreciator of the new masters (Armstrong, Simone, etc.)
She is truly amazing. She is a true child prodigy. She has had some remarkable training. I love that Quincy Jones is promoting her. Her new jazz composition Diversity is amazing.
It's amazing how many of the terms that come to mind about how this young genius affects the listener relate to spiritual or religious imagery. She's difficult to describe otherwise. And tears well up, always the tears.
Quincy Jones, has this magic touch that extracts out of the air these wonderful musicians who go right up to the top of the charts of experts! Emily is one of the best!
Heard this young lady several years ago on Public Radio interview. I believe she was probably 5 or 6 years old at that time. Her performance then was so engaging and oh so well beyond her years. Now here she is, as amazing as ever!
Lovely, Emily...what a gift you have young lady...Your family must enjoy listening to your new music each day..I wish I lived nextdoor..what a treat❤️❤️❤️
Yes she is still blowing minds even 4 years later (mine anyway) and Ms. Bear now a beautiful fine and even more talented (is that possible???) young woman, is continuing a wonderful career... !!! Bravo E. Bear !!!
Love All kinds of music - but especially jazz... It's such joyous music! She is great! And very like someone else I just "bumped into" ; Alma Duetcher(? Spelling may be off) she too is an incredible pianist, violinist and composer, (of operas and classical music.) what an empty hole there would be in life without music.

The most overrated claptrap filth ever. What a bunch of BS. Course all you scumbags love this shit.

She exudes JOY. I hope it never goes away.
