Thanks! That small clump of sticks and grass kept it from getting washed out into the water as the waves pounded it. Sooner or later, it would have been washed out and lost forever.
Thanks! Maybe I'll get to meet you two while you are down this way. I enjoy getting out to new stretches of river and exploring them and finding new spots.
That was a nice one! Thats a spot to keep checking. May not be many flakes because it's been hunted for years. The native people were arrowhead hunters too. I think that's why we don't find as many older points. I read an article of archeologists finding Paleo era points that had been notched a couple thousand years later.
Thanks! I guess I am used to seeing lots of flakes in a spot with that much fire rock. I don't mind not finding the flakes when I come up with a real nice point. I guess they were arrowhead hunters too. They would definitely recognize a point when they came across it because they made them all the time.
I had an awesome field 30 years ago to find wonderful points like yours. It's a subdivision now. Still like watching shows like yours. Congrats, I remember my finds. Rk.
@@richardklapka5147 I feel for you, it would hard to look at a subdivision and remember hunting arrowheads there. A lot of good fields get developed or get change to no till fields. I would love to have a field like you lost so that I would have a good place to search when the river is flooded.
You're right. Exactly what always happens to me too it seems...killers on the first site, nothing for 8 hours, and killers on the last couple sites. I seldom hunt in the same order or even the same sites, so it's not because I hit the same best sites first and last each time, it just seems to work out that way.
TH-cam is acting strange this morning. I replied and it says there is a reply on your comment but it won't show it to me, so here it is again. Yeah, and when you find something good at the first site, you know you aren't going to quit and go home. There is always that hope of finding more stuff. Part of the fun is just being out there searching.
Its funny, that nutting stone looks like a face in the rock, 2 eyes & a mouth. Probably my imagination. lol That was a real nice point you found. Have a Great Day !! :~)
For arrowheads look for a camp fire If its arrowheads that you do desire If you're lucky one you may acquire BLM public land you should enquire On a reservation just find a supplier
I walked by it going upstream. I usually walk upstream searching in the water so the muddy water flows behind me, then walk downstream searching the bank. I came within feet of it the first pass and didn’t see it. Sure glad I didn’t miss it. Good luck on your next hunt!
Been crazy busy with the school year wrapping up, but a friend plowed and i managed some nice archaic finds. Belle of the ball was a little rectangular bannerstone, perfect but for one small scratch on the edge.
@OutdoorRetiree he said "Dad, i think I found something!" And paid attention because the shape, color, texture was all wrong for it to be natural. A fellow could look forever and not find anything better!
Thanks Doug! I got lucky and found it right before I finished for the day. I know you have found them right out of the gate or walking to the car. Seems to work like that sometimes.
Thats a great piece dude!! Crazy how they get hung up like that!!

Wow, worth the wait!! Killer! With that much fire rock, I’d bring the sifter next time. 👍🔥
Thanks! Yes it was! I've learned to not give up until you are in the truck headed home. That spot is definitely a good spot and worth more searching!
That was a sweet one for sure!!! Mike just said today that we're coming down there on the river sometime real soon

I also thought the nutting stone looked like a face lol
Now that Jane mentioned it, it does have face look to it.

Quality. not quantity. I like Quality! Nice one! Rk.
Much appreciated! I wish they were easier to find, because I like a quality point too. Thanks for watching!

That is awesome! Bannerstones are hard to come by, congrats!
