Thanks Scott! I have most of the chunks slabbed up and I need to get some pieces ready for the tumbler. Rock tumbling takes a while, so I didn't want to hold up this video. Good luck hunting!
Man, that saw worked out great! I like your jigs and hold down. I think it was wise to mount the pump in a bucket to avoid the rock dust in the water circulating through the pump. That Flint Ridge flint sure is beautiful!
It sure did! I was surprised because I thought it would be a slow cutting process. A lot of the chunks I brought home were plain tan or gray, but I did manage to get a few really nice colorful pieces.
Wow that is really nice flint!that saw looks similar to a Kobalt I have hum, nice clamping system you came up with, can't wait to see them polished up,have a good one!
Thanks Mike! That clamping system works great. I cut over 160 slabs and only once did the rock move and it was my fault. I didn’t have it locked in enough and tried to cut it anyway. I tightened it down and finished that cut. Good luck hunting!
Thanks! It sure is! I got lucky and came home with some nice chunks of flint to slab. It will take a while to get it through all the stages in the rock tumbler, but I should end up with some really nice pieces. Thanks for watching!
.Excellent machine, excellent cuts. Excellent observation in the rocks subject to heating with respect to the others. Once proven, the heat treatment highlights the color of the rocks. Greetings and blessings friend
Thanks brother! Flint Ridge can be hard to identify, because it comes in so many colors and patterns, but it really is beautiful material. Good luck hunting!
Great experiment mark.. Heat treatment from what I have seen does move them to the pink side.. Can’t wait to see those polished up!!
