    There is another VERY crucial difference between book and movie:
    During the final battle in front of Hagrids cabin Harry tries to curse Snape several times and Snape manages to block them all very easily.
    THEN Snape says: "Blocked again and again and again until you learn to keep your mouth shut and your mind closed, Potter!”

      Exactly. Also the scene in the book when Harry tried to use levicorpus on Snape (the same spell James had used on Snape in Snape's worse memory to sexually harrass and humiliate him) shows Snape was still traumatised from that as he reacts completely different compared to the other spells Harry throws at him, (even crucio and sectumsempra) both spells that can permanently damage him and one spell could kill him.

      I don't know about Percy Jackson books or films, but I know they aren't faithful to the source material. In regards of Ginny, they tried to speedrun their relationship which came out half cocked. They needed to give her character in the previous films, but then again they removed alot between books and films as it is.

      Tom Riddle Sr was extremely good looking and rich & the son of the town Little Hangelton's chief. He was in love with a very pretty Cecilia and was a horse rider. All was going well in his life until the ugly, cross eyed, dim-witted Merope's eyes laid upon him. He kindly smiled at her which she mistook for love as she was abused by her father & brother. He was tormented by her brother who used a hive spell upon him because **she **liked him.
      Once Gaunt & Morfin were sent to Azkaban, Merope abducted, raped and molested Tom for more than year cuz the evil witch forced him to drink water on a hot day in which she drugged love portion. And the worst part is, he wasn't even in his consciousness so he couldn't resist.
      everyone gossiped that the squire's son had run off with the tramp's daughter. Tom was raped again and again until Merope was satisfied and sure she was pregnant so he would be forced to stay with her. Planning he wouldn't leave as she bore his child & he would've fallen in love with her in the past year, she released him from the love portion.
      Tom seized his chance and escaped from the monster who turned him into a living corpse for her own enjoyment right back to his parents house. He lived the rest of his life in their house never recovering from this experience as no one would believe him stating that she was a witch, and importantly that he was male sexual abuse victim. The strikingly handsome man was alone because no one was willing to marry the lunatic who had eloped with the weirdest girl in town.
      16 years later "the son" he didn't even know who existed but was named after him, came out of the blue one night murdered him & his parents and framed it on his uncle Morfin who perished in Azkaban till his death. Them being the first of the thousands that would follow. He wasn't even left alone to rest in his grave. 50 years later, his murderer again came to the manor to dig up his decaying body and tear it apart to collect his bone.
      Tom Riddle's Sr's whole life was a tragedy only because of the lust filled Merope. She proved true that she was Salazar Slytherin's descendant as she made any means to make ends meet. He lived and died a pitiful life not even knowing why he died. Movieflame says he abandoned her as if she was Princess Diana

    Watching these videos makes me look at the films very differently. I now fully realize just how much the filmmakers screwed over Ron in favour of Hermione, and it’s honestly maddening! While Hermione is the labelled as the brains of the trio, she is ultimately the book-smart one whereas Ron is meant to be the street-smart one from being the one of the trio to be raised in the Wizarding World. The films almost made Ron inconsequential, and I agree when you said the he the most underrepresented character when compared to his portrayal in the books.

I agree, he would never say this about being the Chosen One, but at the same time, the movies sometimes make Harry seem a little too polite or "perfect" and not like a normal teenager. Just take how in the movies they make Harry "be honored" to go to Slughorn's club parties when in the books, it's the last place he wants to be.

    • @shepwillner7507
      @shepwillner7507 2 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      I thought there was some backstory: Hermione uncovers the story in both Book 6 and Movie 6: Snape calls himself the Half-Blood Prince because his Mum was a witch named Elaine "Prince" while his Dad was a Muggle-born guy with the last name of Snape. Hence, Severus Snape is a Half-Blood Prince, using his Mum's name as pen name and his Dad's name as his given last name. More of Snape's backstory is described in Book 7 in the chapter titled "The Half-Blood Prince's Tale" via the Pensieve in Dumbledore's office. Harry uses Snape's tears as the basis for reliving Snape's background; we discover that Lily Evans and Snape are lovebirds until Snape calls Lily "mudblood", which drives her into the arms of James Potter, whom she rejected earlier as a BF because she considered hm to be an arrogant dishrag. James and Lily marry, she bears James a son named Harry, and they end up getting killed by Voldemort.
      In addition to the foregoing info, we also discover that Snape still loved Lily even after she married James, which means that Snape loved Harry even though he didn't always demonstrate that affection in the movies. Finally, in the epilogue, we discover that one of Harry and Ginny's sons is named Albus Severus Potter. Why? Because as older Harry tells Albus on the train platform, while Albus was concerned about where he would be Sorted--Gryffindor vs. Slytherin, Dad Harry reminds Albus that he was named for two headmasters of Hogwarts, and one of them was a Slytherin. He was one of the bravest men Harry had ever met.

      @shepwillner7507 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, yeah, right. Petunia still maintains her point of view that Lily is a freak, and yet she wants to attend the same school as Lily. Let's follow that scenario to its conclusion: Lily and Petunia travel in separate compartments on the Hogwarts Express, and then are taken to the castle in the self-propelled row boats where all the first years are greeted on the big staircase by McGonagall. Then they enter the Great Hall and are called by name to be assigned to their House by the Sorting Hat. The Sorting Hat, however, seems to have trouble with assigning Petunia, and eventually assigns her to Slytherin House, the same combined fraternity-sorority where all other ugly, ambitious, and spoiled kids end up.
      Fast forward to the end of the 5th year; Petunia is undergoing her OWLs, and unlike her nicer sister, she fails almost every subject except for History of Magic and Herbology. McGonagall and Slughorn both counsel Petunia because of her poor marks in most of the OWLs subjects, she can't continue her studies and is expelled from Hogwarts. The embittered Evans girl somehow gets employed as a secretary with Dursley's employer; they meet at a company Xmas party, they date and then marry. Petunia bears Vernon a boy they named Dudley. Fast forward one more time and they are burdened with the duty of being reluctant parents to an orphaned baby named Harry Potter.
      Fast forward two more times and we see how the Dursleys, except for Dudley, treat Harry: not as an accepted second son as Dumbledore hoped, but as an abused kid they treated cruelly. By the time Harry turns 11 YO, the family is visited by Rubeus Hagrid, who tells him he's a wizard; Harry gets the admission letter to Hogwarts, and Harry's story progresses from that point. By the time Deathly Hallows Part I approaches in the 7th and final year of Hogwarts schooling, Harry gets taken to an Order of the Phoenix safe house; fortunately for the Dursleys, they are spared killing by the Death Eaters, and they're forced to evacuate their home to avoid that fate. So what happens to Petunia after that evacuation? I don't know, and I don't care. She and her family are no longer in Harry's life.

      Facts. Goldenburg should have been the screenwriter for movies 5-8 and in fact all of the films. It should have been him since Kloves was good at adapting shorter novels - the first 3 films. But he struggled to adapt Goblet of Fire and Goldenburg adapted Ootp phenominally. So it makes sense to keep Goldenburg since he would have adapted HBP and DH- these books are longer than the 1st 3 books.

      I am not the one to defend Kloves and I do appreciate Goldenberg's take on the fifth and I guess our paths did cross in the Order of the Phoenix video about the same point.
      But even Kloves aside, Hermione did have her shining moments in The Order of The Phoenix that either weren't in the book or were taken from Ron as usual, not mentioning the removal of chunks of the book that discussed interrelations between Harry, Cho, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Luna, etc. so I wouldn't blame Kloves for that one. I would have been interesting to see what would happen if Goldenberg handled the sixth, but I doubt it would have been fundamentally different. His different approach could have been better, but I don't think it would be able to save much.

      The movie is different from the books, and this is something people really can't accept. In Movie 6, Harry is, for the first time in a long time, just enjoying life, (outside of hunting Malfoy and trying to unweave his plot) there's an ease and grace in which Harry (well, Daniel Radcliffe) moves through the scenes, its the closest we get to see what Harry would have been as a normal boy. This sense of calm is broken utterly by the finale and I feel that may have been the movie maker's intentions.
      Also, I felt the movie handled Malfoy excellently in this movie, despite not saying much, we are given his perspective a good number of times and we can see him unravelling, this is best shown when there's a party going on in one part of the school and it switches to Draco ruminating at the top of the Astronomy tower.

      I feel you, first time I watched this movie was in the theaters at about 16 and was just cringing the whole way through. I hope that wasn’t your first Harry Potter experience because this movie is not the best introduction.

    Dude I'm so supportive of all that you do 100. But the line " but I am the chosen one" is one of the best lines in the whole series. This moment shows Harry being more real and stepping outside the "boy who lived" shadow. It makes you identify with his character more.

    I really like the scene in the books with Snape remarking on Tonks' Patronus because it foreshadows his own. Of course he'd be the one to notice it has changed because she's in love. He also mocks it for looking "weak" which is pretty funny considering his Patronus (and his love) is one of the strongest in the series AND he probably knows what Lupin's Patronus is.

      @Majora Twili actually she confirmed it around the time the sixth movie came out, but even if you don’t attribute his behaviors and eccentrics as being gay which the more I think about it kind of do, it is true that Book Dumbledore is a much more laidback, cheerful, if Machiavelli character than portrayed in the movies.

      After the second film, the original person who played dumbledore had died (Richard Harris) and didn't want to get replaced, so Michael Gambon instead of replacing him, chose to create his own dumbledore
