I am JUST starting to wear sunscreen regularly on places other than my face because I am entering my mid 30s and starting to notice lines and textural changes around my neck and hands!!! Start early is all I can say. Appreciating your channel so much and love seeing another English-speaking Asian person delivering research/evidence based information on skincare. Our skin types are similar (though I live in Canada!). Thank you for all you do.

One of my major reservation after spfpocalypse is the inconsistent SPF testing in Korea, thanks for pointing out how to avoid this problem.
    Will definitely try your recommendations!

I'm so glad you approve of the beauty of joseon sunscreen! I just got it after reading through a _ton_ of reviews on different sites, and I am so in love with it. I keep buying different sunscreens because the one I liked last disappears and becomes unavailable D: so I keep having to hit-or-miss try new ones! I really hope this one stays in the market long enough for me to get my hands on more! I really value your informed opinion on these things!

I tried the coolest Japanese sunscreen ever recently. It's the Biore Aqua Protect Lotion - it comes out as a water with encapsulated filters, that melt into a milk texture on your skin and then fully sets down (budge-proof) within a couple of minutes. The finish is natural (aka one of the least shiny sunscreens I've tried) and not-sticky. Definitely no white cast and perfect for sunscreen haters. Plus it's affordable too (and the packaging is gorgeous).

As someone who has an icky b’day with a 5 and a 0 this year, I can say that my conversion to J&K sunscreens in the early 2000’s has created a zealot. It’s also paid off. When sunscreen is a pleasure to use, it easily fits into your daily routine.

It's nice to see that water resistant one from Innisfree. That's my biggest complaint about Koreans sunscreens, it's hard to find water resistant ones. My go to water resistant sunscreen is the Skin Aqua UV Gold Gel, Kose Suncut UV Essence, and SunBum SPF 70.

@@poshdelux I will check it out! I honestly have loved quite a few of the Korean and Japanese sunscreens I've tried for the most part, especially recently. There have been a couple of duds but most of them are awesome. I recently picked up the Kose Suncut Aqualy UV protects gel SPF 50+ PA++++ and it's insanely good and super affordable! I think I paid 16 bucks for a 160g bottle and that was just on Amazon and I know it's cheaper direct. I'm trying to find a good waterproof option and I know they have one that is waterproof but I needed something quick so I just ordered the skin aqua UV super moisture gel because we are going on a pontoon boat at work on Thursday I needed something fast. I've heard good things about it so I'm sure it'll be great!

Surfer here, so i have tried all the water resistant sun creams, in Australia you have so many and not too expensive, but here (Spain, Europe) you don´t have such a huge choice. My favourite is the Sports BB by Shiseido (liquid and make up looking like in a grey packaging), it´s heavy and very drying (as all of the really resistant formulas are) but it looks good and stays on even after a few hours in the water...definitely my favourite! (you obviously have to do a proper double cleanse...)

I use all of the Innisfree ones. The Long Lasting one unfortunately broke me out. I gave it to my daughter and she loves it.
I completely agree about the coral statement too. The ocean is quite self cleaning, unless polluted in MASSIVE amounts. I do believe this is just a marketing ploy to advertise being “environmentaly friendly.” Though I have recently been actively finding sunscreen that are more “reef friendly” just incase.

Great review, but I would love to hear if the sunscreens make your eyes water. I know you recommend using another dedicated sunscreen around the eyes , but whether it irritates the eyes is just something like always want to know.

I recently bought the Isntree one on a whim. My skin tingles a bit from it and it stings my eyes after a few hours, but it's ok

I am so against chemical sunscreens (us brands only) but summer is coming and mineral sunscreen during the summer time gives me the worst white cast. I can get away with it in the fall/winter but in the summer time my sweat is literally dripping white and is so greasy from the amount of spf I have to put on. It’s time I get me a chemical sunscreen (from Korea). I just bought the probiotic sunscreen and the water resistant sunscreen you recommended!! As well as the thank you farmer sun stick and the inisfree hylauronic sun stick for reapplying Thank you ❤

My favorite one is by Roundlab, do you know it? is called the birch juice moisturizing sun cream spf50+ PA+++++. I've tried all the ones you mentioned in the video except fot the Mary one. The thing is I have supersensitive eyes for sunscreen (also mineral..), very acne prone skin that burns easily. Ive tried probably over a 100 different brands and formulas and this is the first one I actually enjoy using (after the purito one, because then the drama came out 😭). Would love to hear your opinion on a more scientific level!

I must watch more of your sunscreen stuff - I’m heading to Florida end of August, with my sensitive skinned husband and our eight year old daughter who’s autistic and hates greasy textures on her face/neck! I’m oily with blocked pore tendencies too!

Be careful of the heat and humidity with these sorts of lighter sunscreens - I don't think they fare too well with sweat! I'd definitely recommend looking into sun protective clothing and hats for your daughter, might be a bit more tolerable for her 😊

Hi, Michelle! I would love to know your thoughts about Dr. Shereene Idriss' video on hyaluronic acid. She has quite the bone to pick with the way brands tend to gloss over the difference between the HA found in the body and the stuff we tend to see in ingredient lists, such as sodium hyaluronate.

    • @LabMuffinBeautyScience
      @LabMuffinBeautyScience  2 ปีที่แล้ว +24

I haven't seen it, but there are a lot of HA myths around going both ways! I should really do a video on it...

I've tried so many sunscreens for my mature but oily and blemish-prone skin. As you say I've ended up using most on my neck/chest/hands,or given them to family members. The old Purito was great, until "the scandal" over its SPF/PA rating led to a reformulation. The new one is much too thick and greasy for me. About to try the Hada Labo aqua one, currently using Canmake mermaid skin, which seems ok, but is a tiny tube. Sigh...

Hi Michelle. Try Etude House Sunprise mild airy finish sunscreen, I love it. It gives matte finish and doesn't make my face oily for quite sometime.
