17:04 This has to be my favorite tone shift in any game I’ve ever played. Artistic, poignant, and dramatic Twilight Princess suddenly becomes a Western. I love it so much, hahaha. One of my favorite gameplay sequences of all time.
So, I've been saving this "fun" fact for a while, one of the most interesting yet sad facts in all of Twilight Princess: fully restoring Ilia's memory is not a requirement to beat the game. The most you have to actually do is get the statue to unlock the Hidden Village. But once you clear out the enemies there and get Ilia's Charm, if you already know what to do or figured it out for yourself, you can immediately show Impaz the Dominion Rod to get the book of Sky Characters. From there, since you have to manually show her the charm to restore her memory, you can just skip talking to Ilia again and go down to the basement to continue the main story. Nothing in the game's code will stop you. On one hand, it may be one of the most massive oversights in the entire game, being able to abandon your precious friend and mild love interest to never fully remembering you or her own life. The very idea that such an event is skippable almost seems absurd. But on the other hand, maybe it's a beautiful thing that you can take personal responsibility for being a good person and a good friend. Nobody will force you to mend that bridge with Ilia, but almost everyone would because it's a good thing that most would have no reason not to do, and because it would only be right for the Hero to help the people closest to him.
That is such an odd thing to be able to do! It makes wonder if they didn't add a way to force the player to take Ilia's charm to her because everything pushes you towards that next step, be it through dialogue or your supposed investment in the characters. Like, there's no way you'd ignore her, right? Then again, I know they probably think of every possible way someone could play or break the game as they're making it... so it's interesting that they didn't code it to be mandatory. Thanks for sharing, that's pretty interesting (although I feel bad for all the Ilias who were left to forget forever :'D)
Yeah, I felt really bad when I first discovered it. I was replaying the game for maybe the fourth or fifth time and wondered, "wait, do I actually have to go back to Ilia before getting the Book of Sky Characters? The Horse Call isn't even an essential item anyways." And once I found out I could, I wondered if I ever needed to talk to Ilia again. It turned out, no, I just went on to complete the whole game as normal, and nothing had changed. I just went on to beat the game with "Ilia's Charm" still an unusable display item in my inventory. It felt so strangely horrible that not only is it really easy to skip helping Ilia, but that she also matters so little in the wider scope of the game that whether you help her or not changes practically nothing
Huh, I might've played that game well into the double digits, but I never figured that one out. Now that I've learned of this however... I'd be down to blueball Ilia for being such a self-proclaimed mom in the Ordon prelude! 😈 Link can figure her stuff out in the credits, I don't care. Sometimes, I wonder though: Was Ilia's memory loss caused by physical trauma, or a psychological one?🤔
@@nothinghere8434 Given that she still had her memories at the Hidden Village, knowing who Link was and believing he would save them, it was likely psychological, incurred by the trauma of being besieged by monsters, but since she also got care from a doctor after escaping, it could have been a physical wound as well
I think Louise stole the statue because the doctor stole it from Ilia. Dude took it without permission as his payment while Ilia was sick and lost, the scoundrel. Louise was getting it back for her.
i just found your channel, and binged this entire series over the course of today only to find a new entry had been posted during the time i had been watching. this game is very important to me for many reasons and these super entertaining videos are more than doing it justice. looking forward to seeing you experience the rest of the game and hopefully other zeldas down the line :]
I'm having "one of those days" and I didn't know what to do beside wallowing in my own feelings. Then this video appeared and I feel a bit better now, thanks for being so funny.
I love that the cats add “meow” and “mrrw” into their dialogue when talking to wolf Bread It’s like if a human just made random grunting noises while talking
Yayy I'm glad you finally got to the Hidden Village! I knew you couldn't resist talking to all the cats. Apparently in the French version of Twilight Princess, each cat has a name and unique dialogue and it's rude that we didn't get this in English.
Yeeeees you got all the golden wolf encounters! That skeleton is confirmed to be Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask Link and is Twilights father in the Hyrule Historia guidebook. It is my favorite little thing in Twilight Princess, so happy you got to do it.
gato!! its always a delight to see your videos pop into my recomended, i love the thumbnail art so much. i've recently caught up to this series, its been really fun and you're so entertaining, keep it up!
The Jump Strike and the Back Slice were very useful in finding odd quirks back in the Gamecube and Wii days. Like you could go off of the intended path to find strange places and fall out if you're not careful.
I am probably the obly person who has never been a huge fan of the western part of the game as I feel like it takes me out of the fantastic fantasy world, but I always enjoy watching people do the cat mini game for the first time hahaha. Watching Gato interacting with cats is the best part of this LP so far~!
Gatooooo te encontré hace poco pero me encantan tus videos y espero con ansias cada episodio nuevo que subes ❤ un abrazooo (p.s. tu arte es HERMOSO, ME ENCANTA TU ESTILO AAAAAHHHHH)
I saw the video this morning when I got up, but purposefully saved it until I was done with the day and could relax and watch it while going to bed. My day went way longer than I expected, and I kept putting on other videos that could just play in the background. Every time, YT kept recommending this video. The algorithm knew I needed Bread being and errand boy and mingling with cats in a spaghetti western, and it was right. This may be my favorite playthrough I've watched of any Zelda game.
Photography! NATURE photography!! Its so fun! I just finished round 1 of a black and white film class in my city and hopefully I'll get into round 2! Definitely going to try for more macro photos this time around
That's awesome!! Agreed, it's super fun to see what you can find, as well as chase after all the things that move, haha. Macro photography is a blast to do as well, hopefully you encounter lots of cool things!
Speaking of disappearing cats, a few weeks ago, there was a hurricane that knocked out my house's power for about 2 - 3 days. I live in the South, so it gets crazy hot during the summer with no AC. So I made sure my two cats had plenty of food and water and went to stay with my parents, who live next door. During one of the days, my husband went to grab some clothes and check on the cats, and couldn't find one of them, no matter how much he looked. So we started to worry, thinking that she had somehow gotten out and got lost. A few hours later, I went over to grab something, and decided to look around for the cat again. I looked everywhere, including in weird places just in case she had been trapped somehow. For example, I was looking in my washer and dryer, my fridge, inside the bathroom that we keep closed all the time, etc. But I still couldn't find her. Right when I was about to leave, I decided to stop and give my other cat some pets, and I ended up hearing the first cat's collar from the other room. I went to investigate, and the "lost" cat was just sitting on my dining room table, looking at me as if she hadn't completely vanished into thin air for the previous few hours.
As if the situation wasn't stressful enough... what a nice bit of flavour your cat added to your lives, oh my goodness. I love how they just show up again as though you haven't been meticulously scanning your entire property in places deep down inside you know there'd be no way of them accessing. Cats will be cats LOL
Having a cow apparently dates back to the 1950s when all the hip young lads came up with a new idiom to parallel the British term "having kittens." Contextually, it appears to refer to the hysterics that would theoretically come about if one gave birth to a cow (or some kittens in Britain).
I've never heard throw a fit "and a cow"? The last part must be a regional thing Also I love playing with the cats but the ones on the main street especially are so confusing
"Don't have a cow" means "don't get over-excited" and has dubious origins in the 1960's, but it was popularized by being a catchphrase used by Bart Simpson in the 90's.
From the Midwest in the USA here and it's definitely a phrase. It's not very commonly used, but most people know what it means. Don't feel bad bc it's a weird thing to say when you think about it literally.
@14:47 i think we say "have a cow" because you have beef with them 18:11 in older versions of the game (not wiiu) you could howl at the stone during the hunt... which would reset the hunt as it counted as leaving the area
“You have no idea who walked into your store-the man who single-handedly funded your demise!” It’s so true, hahahaha 😂🤣🤣🤣 Also…“munchoning” is my new favorite word. Wolf Link committed a munchoning, I love it. 😭😂

Fun fact : In certain languages, like French, the cats in the minigame have pun names and dialogue lines
Yeah, it's the case in French and Spanish
But in English and Japanese they all say the same line
I just recently found this out, I'm sad they didn't add that in the English version 🥲
So, I've been saving this "fun" fact for a while, one of the most interesting yet sad facts in all of Twilight Princess: fully restoring Ilia's memory is not a requirement to beat the game.

@@Trebord_
The thing with the physical wound caught me off guard xD good one, screw that old fart
It's strongly implied Impaz is a Sheikah, yes. If you read the sign in the Hidden Village, it says "Kakariko"
Also look at the eye on that statue
I think Louise stole the statue because the doctor stole it from Ilia. Dude took it without permission as his payment while Ilia was sick and lost, the scoundrel. Louise was getting it back for her.
That would make sense!
17:11 Yes! The spaghetti western princess! This part of the game is SUCH a goofy (sometimes frustrating) blast, its so delightful.
Growing up me and my brother always made that same joke about the gold wolf biting Link’s head 😭
i just found your channel, and binged this entire series over the course of today only to find a new entry had been posted during the time i had been watching. this game is very important to me for many reasons and these super entertaining videos are more than doing it justice. looking forward to seeing you experience the rest of the game and hopefully other zeldas down the line :]
AUGh I'm so glad you're enjoying the series, and also hats off for watching it all in one day, holy smokes!!
Same! I'm looking forward to BOTW and TOTK
Remember, you can't spell success without succ
I'm having "one of those days" and I didn't know what to do beside wallowing in my own feelings.
Then this video appeared and I feel a bit better now, thanks for being so funny.
Glad the video could help
Me, the someone who reminded you to get the poe near the sword pedestal: "You're welcome!"
21:53 I believe it is implied that this guy is the hero from Ocarina of Time, so you are correct about that!
I love that the cats add “meow” and “mrrw” into their dialogue when talking to wolf Bread
It’s like if a human just made random grunting noises while talking
Your design for postman Bread in the thumbnail is so cuuute 💚💚💚
The glasses are so cute!
Glad you think so! 💕
Fun fact, MC Escher designed the Ooccoo. (They were based on a particular MC Escher piece.)
The painting is "Another World". This is vitally important for the Sky.
Yayy I'm glad you finally got to the Hidden Village! I knew you couldn't resist talking to all the cats. Apparently in the French version of Twilight Princess, each cat has a name and unique dialogue and it's rude that we didn't get this in English.
It is confirmed in Hyrule Historia that the Hero Shade is the same as the Hero of time, and it is implied that he is Link's ancestor.
Yeeeees you got all the golden wolf encounters! That skeleton is confirmed to be Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask Link and is Twilights father in the Hyrule Historia guidebook. It is my favorite little thing in Twilight Princess, so happy you got to do it.

Thank you so much! Happy to hear that you enjoy both the series and the art :D

Here's a funfact , there are easter egg in the Shop where the armor is , look at the paintings
OH will do!
cats and cowboys. Twilight princess has it all
😱175,480,000 RUPEES?! 😱
How many times has the doctor been to Telma's bar?!
Finally, my favorite minigame from the Zelda series: herding cats.
Truly an 11/10 minigame

ARGHh muchísimas gracias por tus palabras!!! ❤😭
1:50 i think it was like M. C. Escher or something, idk
You are correct. They _were_ based on an MC Escher piece. It's less insane in Twilight Princess somehow.
I saw the video this morning when I got up, but purposefully saved it until I was done with the day and could relax and watch it while going to bed. That's a massive compliment, thank you so much!!
Fun fact : if you take a cat then drop it into the water then all the cats will flee from you until you reload the area
Ending with the cats was delightful (Also I'm a huge fan of this postman humbnail!)
Hehe, glad you like it! :D
I'm so happy you found the cat spaghetti western. One of the best moments in gaming history.
Ah yes, Bread, Hero of Mail
