      That waste of new trains and money... Slam door train as a replacement makes formal new train better. Then against these new trains take scrapped and other make a new bendy train again at all the UK! This is so ridiculously it is! 😒

    I wondered why did the Thameslink 377s are assigned to Southeastern instead of returning to Southern with some outliers transferred from Southern too. Southeastern has a lot of electrostars to cover for services.

    Great video, does the bromley north shuttle not run a 466 alone anymore?

    • @BPMR
      @BPMR  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No not with a lone 466, They would require refurbishment to accommodate recent changes in the accessibilities laws, things like the grab rails, door buttons etc need to be updated. Not massive amounts of work, but work that they decided not to carry out.

      The doors open very regularly so there is no point fitting aircon because the benefit would be lost

    • @BPMR
      @BPMR  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some networkers are being placed into storage up in Worksop as the Class 707s get delivered. I fear that they will eventually meet the same fate as the similar Class 365's and go for scrap. At the moment nothing has been announced about their future.

    I watched the previous episode and drove all the slam door units, which i considered, along with a lot of other drivers, had better braking systems having epb ( electro pneumatic brake ) and auto brake ( westinghouse ). We were told you couldn't beat the on board computer giving better and smoother braking experience for the travelling passengers. No, but you could feather the brakes, whereas i personally have had a 465 8 car unit ( 4x4 ) skid through a station with all wheels locked up, but the download proved, all door interlock working and speed shown as 0 mph. I was completely exhonerated for something i didn't do. I have been retired for 20 years now, most trains i ever drove are gone, most of the network has changed and i don't recognise the places . At one point 465187 was the first networker to have hidden cameras, any cameras visible were made out of cardboard and were dummys, they were often vandalised, the real cameras were hidden elsewhere. The first station cameras stolen were taken from woolwich dockyard.

      Thank you, I just missed driving slam doors by a couple of years. Just jumped straight into driving 377’s 455’s and 456’s. I had a 455 slide from Mickeham Tunnel all the way to Leatherhead one Sunday morning. Nothing I could do as I watched a SWT service cross in front of me at the junction. Luckily it cleared in time and I slid straight passed the signal as it came off.

    • @BPMR

    • @kieranharvey4576

      Since the D.O.O monitors have been comissioned on the branch and the stop car marks for both 2 and 4 car units renewed, we now use 4 car units on the Branch. They might still occasionally use a 466 if that's all that is available but last few times I've been on there it's been a 4 car. Both METCAMs and BRELs :)

    • @BPMR
