  • When my wife was up in Michigan visiting family, I started on a major bathroom remodel. My plan was do the countertop and sink in resin, as well as the floors. I ended up going a bit further. In this video, the project is the sink. Let me know what you think. Thanks to Rhonda @RK3Designs and Mitch @StoneCoatCountertops for inspiring me to get creative and like Mitch says, "I got this!" Let me know what you think.
If you want to support my resin efforts, why not buy me a coffee:

If you see any of my pieces and are interested in purchasing one or more, private message me here or on my business email (epalbino@bassresinator.biz).
    Steps I used:
    1. 2 coats Bonding Primer and Sealer (allow to dry for 1 hour. Lightly sand before 2nd coat)
    2. 2 coats Epoxy Undercoat (allow to dry for 1 hour. Lightly sand before 2nd coat)
    3. Wait at least 3 hours before doing epoxy
    4. Cabinet paint (3 hours between coats) - apply lightly (not dripping) - adding mica to achieve color desired (seashell on back splash, Blue Green Metallic and Crater Lake Blue on counter top and lip of sink, Ocean Blue Metallic on sink - add some wave action and whirlpool action with White Metallic
    5. Found out the hard way that the mica doesn’t really change the paint color enough. It just made them pastel colors. I did find an acrylic paint (Yalida brand) - ultramarine, that I used to paint the sink.
    6. I decided to use colorant in the resin to get my desired result.
    7. I used Color Creator Blue Green Metallic, Crater Lake Blue (my fav), Ocean Blue Metallic. When the resin started getting tacky, I added light brown sand and Shoreline Flake on the back splash. On the 2nd coat (mostly clear) I added waves with Let’s Resin Ocean White Paste and a few spots I added metal flakes by Tropical Glitz Blue Lagoon and South Beach Blue.
    8. Applied Ultimate Top Coat glossy.
5 square feet of counter top × .275 (UTC amount) × .5 (water to add)
UTC is a 2:1, but in Texas can use 3:1. Since that is the case, I’m going to make it 2.5:1
5 square feet, UTC needed is 1.4 ounces, water needed is a little less than .7 ounce
    .4 of B, 1 of A

It looks amazing, the colors are beautiful! And I've learned that sometimes the most fun crafting can be had by making an absolute mess! 😆

I love the speckles on the sand and the waves are top notch. You are doing an amazing job.

I would have used a honeycomb sponge to make texture in the sink to hide all the lines from your gloves. I’m still watching but it’s looking great.
