I personally don't trust any car reliability ranking if it doesn't include the 2 most popular/reliable/fuel-efficient non-electric cars ever made: the Civic and the Corolla. In the worst-case scenario, these two should be at the bottom of that 10-car list.
There's a reason you see more Civics and Corollas on North-American roads than any other make & model, even today.
The only thing I agree with in this vid is that there are no American-made cars in that list.
Finally, and most importantly, consistency is a must when doing such studies:
    First: type of vehicle:
A sedan, for instance, should not belong in a list that includes an SUV or truck, and vice versa.
Second: consistency in number of vehicles studied. For example: If your ranking results are based on 100 same-model Nissan trucks and a certain Toyota truck is in the list, the number of Toyota trucks must be 100 too.
Third: consistency in time of ownership/miles driven/geographical location. Not that it's the case here, but one can't conclude that a given vehicle driven 100,000 miles for 1 year somewhere in Minesota is less reliable than the same vehicle driven with the same mileage, during the same length of time somewhere in Texas.
Fourth: type of vehicle. An electric car should not be in the same list as a gasoline car, and vice versa.
Fifth: type of transmission (for gasoline cars). An automatic is not necessarily more reliable than the same car with a stick shift, and vice versa.
Sixth: consistency in the kind of drivers that owned the car: there aren't 2 Homo sapiens on the planet who drive exactly the same way. The only remedy to this is using human clones or robots.
I probably forgot many more factors, like type of terrain, vehicle driven mostly with many passengers on board vs. driven mostly by the driver alone, etc.
What I'm saying here basically is that it's practically impossible to make such studies, lol.
Seriously folks, get what YOU are aching for, not what anybody tells you what you should get.
Me? Aching for the Civic Si :-)
P.S: my intention isn't to "put down" this channel. Far from it. Knowledge is always a good thing.

I think there's an error, I could be wrong. The Kona I dont think shares with the Accent. I believe it's the Elantra. The 2.0 motor that's in my Elantra powers the Kona if you dont choose the 1.6 Turbo. Which also powers the Elantra Sport. The 2.0 naturally aspirated motor should prove more reliable than the 1.6 gdi turbo. The Hyundai Venue is based on the Accent.

Most of these vehicles have older motors that have already proven themselves and history shows automakers always make these older motors more and more reliable as they work out minor issues. For example the Mx5 is on a 1.6 sky active that is almost a decade old and on a light weight vehicle the motor would further have less stress.

Now if you want to discuss Mazda, their sales are not reflecting where they should be so its probably needed to throw them into the mix. Reliable or not at the end of the day this is about money. When Mazda freed itself in its partnership from Ford, (from 1974 to 2015) their quality improved considerably...so long as it didn't come from a plant in Mexico. MX-5 roadster, the RX-8, as well as the CX-7 crossover SUV and Mazda 5 Mini-van are all made in Japan...with some parts dilution (with the MX-5 Miata 100% Made in Japan). Mazda's brand loyalty is still struggling as a result of the Ford partnership; it was 39 percent in 2016, below the industry average of 53 percent (latest report from May 15, 2017).

      - A few weeks ago I saw an older Tesla (at about 70k km) standing in the middle of the road: the cooling water leaked into the engine, total damage of the car

ND Miata owner here. I think part of the reason Miatas are so reliable is they’re pretty simple machines. Not a ton of electronics in these cars. The parts aren’t pricey but the quality is good. I’ve had mine 18 months and put 23,000 miles on it, and have not had a mechanical or electronic issue yet. If you can live with a car this small, buy one. You won’t regret it!

@Rj M - That's the fault of most owners. Most cars are prone to rust eventually, not just Mazda. My '05 Mazda has very little to no rust and driven through every winter in a city where they use salt and brine. The trick is to get the car sprayed every year, such as I have since new using Krown. It not only protects body panels or subframe but other things such as brake lines, gas lines and tank.

Nissan's CVTs have a bad reputation and the redesigned 2019 Mazda 3 is a major disappointment with at least 6 recalls. Even if the car brand is reliable, do your research on the specific car you like before you buy.
