    LHR - SIN's food is served by caterers from London, so this isn't so much on SQ, its on the caterers at London. Same for Frankfurt. Those regulars flying out of Frankfurt can attest to the atrocious food that they serve to airlines flying from FRA

    • @freddiesflightreviews
      @freddiesflightreviews  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It was definitely worse from London, but even on the way back out of Singapore the food was still slightly below average.

      It’s not just Heathrow, it’s the same from Australia I fly frequently with SQ and the quality of the food has been pretty bad post pandemic

    SQ has been on full cost cutting mode over the past few years in economy
    Just a reminder of what has been eliminated in Economy class over the past few years
    - no more amenity kit pouches
    - no more printed menus
    - no more appetisers
    - no more hot towels
    - less quality mains

    • @freddiesflightreviews

      Agreed, another leg of my flight was in Business and that was fantastic. But economy is really just average, with admittedly great seats

    • @haresh911
      @haresh911 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Amenity kit pouches are available on request. Printed menus are scrapped due to a move towards sustainability. Hot towels and appetisers are coming back. Meal portions were increased by 30% already. And generally their food Is definitely not as bad as people make it out to be.

    • @UKabroad1967
      @UKabroad1967 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@haresh911 comeon , that’s just PR marketing bullshit. Do you honestly believe that? It’s typical PR strategy to just mask every cost cutting decision as a “sustainability” thing. Don’t fall into their stupid mind tricks.

    • @sojourn6697
      @sojourn6697 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@haresh911 wouldn’t it be better if they just gave out the amenity kits rather than have the passengers request them? I don’t give a rats arse about sustainability. Hot towels and appetisers are coming back, when? They hadn’t turned up when I flew Christchurch to London a month ago. How much were you paid to write that stuff.

      Lies… I flew Singapore airlines from Manchester UK to Singapore last year and we got all of that… was my first time in Singapore airlines and those details have stuck with me… we’re going to Thailand with Etihad this year so I’m excited to see how they compare.

    Yeah i have A380 on 3 of my 4 flights, and on all 3 i snagged 71A with the extra legroom and access, did cost a bit extra as you say, but on 13hour then a full 24hour return (2 flights) it will definitely be worth it. Thanks for uploading 👍

      Thank you for the comment as we are flying Heathrow to Singapore return on the a380 in March 2025 and 71a is the seat I chose with extra leg room as 13 hour flight.
      Is it a good decision?
      I am sitting in standard economy seat with my partner with the extra leg room next to me.

    • @ironduke3376
      @ironduke3376 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ZumbawithKimmieD i had that seat, and have the same seat 71A going back. It has good and bad points…. Its great for legroom space and being able to get up and walk around, the screen is between the seats and folds under, and tray table is in the arm rest.
      Bad points, theres no cup holder, theres no usb power point so have to use the middle seats screen, unless your tv has an outlet under the screen.
      There is pockets on wall but too tight to put anything in other than a magazine.
      Still, id choose 71A again purely for the leg room and space.
      Enjoy your flight ✈️

      @@ironduke3376 thank you for your quick response, appreciate that 👍
      Yeh I did see the tray and tv come up from the side or under seat.
      Didn’t know it didn’t have a cup holder, is there not a little cup holder on tray then when eating dinner, where you put your drink?
      I chose it so he could have extra leg room and more comfort as when flew with Eva or Thai airways, ended up with back ache. Also nice you can just get up and not have to move the person next to you constantly, especially when they are asleep.
      I can probably stretch my legs out into his leg space for more comfort too.
      Thank you, cannot wait to return to Thailand again 😀

    Great Video! I am looking to fly to Brunei via Singapore on the A380. Upon reaching Changi, was 1.5 hours enough time to catch your connecting flight to Hanoi? I have not done that before and might be in the same position, however, it would be in the same terminal.

    • @freddiesflightreviews
      @freddiesflightreviews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1.5 hours was easily enough, I think we had about half an hour of waiting at the gate before boarding. That being said if you're delayed on the 1st flight it's a risk. But Singapore Airlines would reschedule you if it's all on the same ticket so should be ok.

    From pre pandemic I've been an avid supporter and flyer of Singapore Airlines going back over 25 years. Recently I heard from a friend that her experience flying Perth to Penang was not good particularly in the food and drink department - no longer a "Great way to fly". Hence the reason for me searching for the review. She also mentioned the high price which should have covered better service. The logic being I might get much better service at a much cheaper price with other airlines for the long haul trips to Europe.

    Surely the food is limited to the airport you fly from and whatever the caterer supplies. Flying Changi to LHR last year I thought the food was pretty good although I never set my expectations too high. The only downside to the food was my wife's fare which was pretty dismal as I'd somehow managed to order her vegan meals for every flight to and from NZ, this was the same for all airlines we travelled with, BA, AirNZ and Singapore.

No appetizer, no salt and pepper, no proper dessert just a frozen ice cream, no cheese and crackers, paper cups for hot drinks, NO HOT TOWELS, no amenity kit (used to be mask, socks, comb, toothbrush & toothpaste) on all night flights. No menu card. No longer an inflight magazine. All of these were standard long haul Y class on SQ in 2019! 😢

    I have flown many times on SQ between LHR and MNL and the food service has always been good except for the last occasion when the meat sold out so I was offered only the fish option which I rejected due to a seafood allergy. However, my general opinion of SQ remains very high.

      I prefer the Dreamliner overall. The A380 has surprisingly small windows whilst the 787 windows are massive. Also the ceiling feels taller in the 787. Lastly I think the 787 cabin cabin pressure and humidity is better which helps on a long haul flight. Though on the last one I’m not sure I can actually tell the difference.

    I still find SQ still maintain its standard. Besides the meals, I think it is quiet quality meals. the way they presented the food is questionable haha. Apart from that, the entertainment, the ambience, services is still Perfecto. As long I'm comfortable that's enough.

    You say your food leaving the UK wasn’t good but was much better on the way back from Singapore, blaming the UK for that.
    But It’s Singapore airlines, theat supply everything, if they don’t have the infrastructure to fully resupply in the UK. That’s their fault.
    Or am I wrong? 😕

      I actually did eat at the Haneda airport in Tokyo before my flight. My ANA flight served great food and had very good legroom in economy. I still wanted to savour my last meal in Japan that's why I had breakfast before heading to the security screening. You'll definitely enjoy the airport and flight coming from Japan. This was my second flight with ANA. Prior to ANA, it was JAL. Their service and meals in economy was also very good. I've been reading how Singapore Airlines services have gone down from other comments in TH-cam so, it's certainly a concern that they're considered the best when clearly other airlines have better class of service.

    Whilst it all looked wonderful, apart from the food, obviously, it sounded horrendous!! All I could hear was screeching kids! Oh how I wish airlines would take childfree services serious! I don't have kids, my choice, and I don't see why I have to put up with other peoples screaming kids! This video is enough to put me off from travelling anywhere with Singapore Airlines in economy! Other than that, thank you for a great video.

      Yep, screaming children is the quintessential soundtrack of flying sadly.

    • @aisumelef211
      @aisumelef211 ปีที่แล้ว

      The first flight that I had in my life was to Singapore via Hong Kong as a child. I was not screaming. I agree it's challenging to be seated next to screaming children. I believe that air travel for children under two years old is stressful for their bodies. My ears hurt when ascending and descending. I have earplugs for the pressure so, I imagine it's very painful for the kids. My flight from Toronto to Hong Kong via Vancouver was memorable because of the crying babies in 2003. At the end of the flight, the cabin looked liked a garbage bin. As I told my husband, it's as if we were flying a bus. That's when he said that's why it was called an Airbus. To be honest, I only knew the 747s because that was the plane I'd mostly flown. That flight via Vancouver was my first on an Airbus. If it's service and plane configuration, I prefer the Boeing 787 of ANA. Economy was roomy. Toilets were just like what they had in Japan (electric flush). Decent headphones and great meal with metal cutlery. Dessert was Häagen-Dazs ice cream. In Japan Airlines, I brought back my unfinished bottle of wine which my sister claimed. I enjoyed the curry dinner of JAL in 2010 in my flight from Tokyo to Manila. Manila to Tokyo, I asked for more rice crackers snack. They only serve in plastic cups with Air Canada. Their seat configuration is cramped in their 787. Their meals are okay. With Air France, I got a small amenity kit in 2009. I don't know if they still do that. They kept passing the bread around and the crew were jolly. With Philippine Airlines, there was free WiFi in Economy and the bento meal was fantastic. I had a gluten-free meal, which was decent. With Asiana, the location of the baggage carousel for your flight is displayed on the screen IFE before disembarking. They also had wheels (a vehicle, not a wheelchair) for the old folks outside of the arrival gate in Incheon. The bibimbap looked delicious and satisfying. Again, I had a gluten-free meal. I flew with many old folks passengers at that time.
