Happy that roughly ~70% of pre-pandemic A380 operations are back. Extremely impressive for a quad jet of this size.

Yay a new trip report!! I flew Singapore airlines last fall to Singapore and I was so impressed with the service. Maybe it’s cause I’m used to budget Flair and little dash 8’s in Canada, but I felt like I was flying in luxury despite being in economy at the back of the plane. Thanks for the personal throwback and the look at the a380! ❤

I’m due to fly with them in three weeks time, all the way to Singapore, it looks like a different league to anything I’ve ever been in before, even the best of the 747’s like Emirates and JAL and Singapore themselves.

SQ is carrier ...that other airline's use as a qualitative benchmark... whether on the ground or in the air...no matter which class of service one travels in ... they're simply outstanding...( I speak from personal experience..having flown them several times..)..saw a video of their crew training...the attention they give to each and every aspect of passenger interaction and catering is outstanding...I firmly believe that the CEO'S of various North American and European carriers should purchase a revenue ticket..and travel with them as an ordinary passenger, on one of their short flights ..say Singapore to Jakarta ( one hour and twenty minutes or less)..and then experience the service on board... they'll be stunned..( and hopefully understand how their own products and services compare..!!).. very nice trip report... thanks for sharing...!!

I'm glad you finally could enjoy an airline that can be taken seriously. Mainly flying with Canadian carriers doesn't necessarily let you be used to a high level of comfort and customer service.

Hey Alex. Great Video! I reside in Singapore and so I fly with my pretty much every time I can. One thing to add (at least for me) is the fact, that Sg airlines has a landing song played during arrival. I think this is a significant thing that many airlines should do as well, because it just feels right!

I was on the Singapore A380 the last time in 2019 from Singapore to Hong Kong, where I also upgraded to business class. It was the best designed seat I have ever been in, and even though it was just over 3 hours, it was still very enjoyable and I got about an hour sleep in the lie flat position. Thank god I upgraded because of what happened in 2020, the following year.

Did this R/T in 2014. Pretty awesome and cheapest option at the time. The fact that it was the A380 was a major plus. The crew also gave my kids and myself a tour of the plane and flight deck after we landed. We even got small amenity kits in economy…I still have the socks.

I really miss flying and enjoyed your channel today. I have to tell you that I had the "distinct pleasure" as a employee of SHELL GLOBAL to fly back and forth to Dubai from YYZ for 5 amazing years, first class, on EMIRATES A-380!! Truly an amazing adventure!! It was a "TOTAL" revelation of how "the other half travels"!! The people, the lounges, the staff, the food and the wonderful EMIRATES staff who were incredible and understood what "first class" meant and they had it down pat!! I retired 5 years ago and have not flown since!! This video whet my appetite to pursue a new adventure this summer!! I will continue to watch your video's and thanks for your efforts!! As a local Singaporean it's always heart warming when I see comments from pax abroad on our product and service. Now try and imagine how it was years ago... It was like business class with hot towels lovely menus and a whole lot more.. even champagne in economy. Try more on next time on our a350 flights. We are so spoilt for choice. Even a 2 hr flight from Singapore to Bangkok we fly the a350s! Watch more of your flights on TH-cam .. there are tons! Stay safe and fly more on SQ and other asian airlines was such as Korean Air and Starlux...

Many people call the 380 the King since the 747 is the Queen, but inkeeping with the female term for ships of the sea and ships of the sky, I think of the 380 as the Empress of the sky

I remember being on Air Canada, from Vancouver to South Korea, on one of the 747's....I believe.....and was wondering what was that sound?....Since I didn't have a window seat, at the time, I thought maybe the landing wheels were coming down.....but why?......We were still miles away from Ichon! 😂😂😂😂 I love the bigger planes, they feel safer, and better in turbulence.

Thank-you for sharing this flight review with us. I am so glad that you had a great experience. Based upon the flight reviews I’ve seen, I’ve found that the Asian carriers tend to cater to passenger comfort than those of the west. However, Lufthansa does look inviting.
Assuredly, the A380 is a wonder of engineering. At its wing root, it is 11 feet high, and it weighs roughly 560 tons (Imperial). The power that has to be generated to lift it off the ground has to be massive. Although I am tempted to fly on one as a novelty, I am not a fan of flying on the huge aircraft. This is just mu opinion, but I always focus on having an inflight emergency and actually evacuating these large aircraft timely. It just takes a few to stumble and block an aisle to impede evacuation.
The one thing I always do is to get the names of those who have exceeded my expectations for service. I have no problems with writing a letter in order to recognize someone for their excellence. For me, it takes such little effort to help someone that might serve for promotion(s).
Again, thank-you for sharing. I look forward to viewing your other posts. Do you have plans to do a review of your Lufthansa flight to Frankfurt, or did I miss it somehow? Take care, sir!

We were on a Singapore 380 Changi to LHR last year, sitting at the back in something like row 77. It was by far the most pleasant flight we had if you call 13 1/2 hours on a plane pleasant. The thing I found was it's a lot quieter at the rear without the roar of the engines all the time plus not so busy as they filled the plane from the front and we didn't have a reserved seat.

Like you said, we have very little chance flying A380 out of YYC, and one of the aircraft I really want to fly. A330 and 350 are the closest for me.
My daughter did fly out of YYZ on A380, and she really liked it.

Good evening from Singapore, Alex! Glad you enjoyed your flight with my home airline! I always find it funny how people from abroad, especially westerners, fly SQ and just rave non-stop about every aspect. Then there’s me going “uhh, Singapore Airlines again?” 😂 Not that they’re bad, just that I don’t travel often and take every opportunity to experience new airlines, if I can. That said, SQ always reminds me of home and it’s also been 8 years since I flew on an A380. Looking forward to returning on one with Asiana this December. You really should cover trips to overseas locations more often on the channel! WestJet is flying to Tokyo soon, maybe a trip for the future? 👀

I've flown with a fair few long haul carriers
    Singapore was always the best
Side note. From memory Qantas does LAX to JFK

Great trip report Alex! Just joined your channel and what an amazing journey it looked like as well. Singapore Airlines is on the list. An Aeroplan user here too, good to know SQ is part of Star Alliance too. I hope down the line you can do Fiji Airways or an AC longhaul of YVR-SYD or even a simple 787 8 Max Business class video. Great work once again!

I used to fly back home on Sing from my base in Dubai as it was far better value business class than emirates however I never got used to the weird angled foot well as it was always to one side which made sleeping a bit uncomfortable lie flat. I flew one year first class on the 777 which was great. The seats on the a380 business are huge. Always a good bet.

    Great trip report!
I was lucky enough to book a business class seat with miles on the last scheduled one from JFK-FRA next month. It'll be my first time on the A380 and I'm really looking forward to it :D
