+Kat Lobendahn I was looking at the histogram on the right about the winning speeds of the Daytona 500. The 7 and 5 were frequencies or how often a winning speed was at least 160 mph.
Why can't or don't you simply use bins: 4 - 6, 6 - 8, 8 - 10, i.e., Shoe Sizes: 4, 4.5, 5, 5, 6 = 5 occurrences in bin 4 - 6. Shoe Sizes: 6.5, 7, 7, 7, 8 = 5 occurrences in bin 6 - 8, Shoe Sizes: 9.5, 10 = 2 occurrences in bin 8 - 10. In your presentation or scenario, if 4 occurrences are in bin 4 - 6, those would be Shoe Sizes: 4, 4.5, 5, 5. If 5 occurrences are In bin 6 -8, those would be Shoe Sizes: 6, 6.5, 7, 7, 7. if 2 occurrences are in bin 8 - 10, those would be Shoe Sizes: 8, 9.5, and in bin 10 - 12 would be Shoe Size: 10. There is no data after Shoe Size 10; therefore, there is no need to go 10 - 12. Simply stop at 8 - 10. The shape or how the distribution is skewed in very important in telling us about the variation in our process, i.e., whether we are experiencing a "Common Cause" or a Special Cause" variation. What you are doing seems to be creating an unnecessary "Right-Skewed Distribution". th-cam.com/video/XUeU4tvkXAo/w-d-xo.html
thanks alot its a great video... i just have one question in the example you gave us to try .. the ages bins were 10-19 and then 20-29 and that makes a gap between my histogram colomns is that ok or there is something to do ??? I'm not sure ... sorry for bad english not a native speaker :)
When you make the histogram make sure your columns are next to each other. There shouldn't be a gap unless the frequency is 0. The "gap" between 19 and 20 in the frequencies is okay because all the numbers are integers (no decimals). I hope that helps :)
NO PROB ABOUT YOUR ENGLISH ITS BETTER THAN ALL OTHERS AND I KNOW THAT YOUR A NATIVE SPEAKER DONT PRETEND LIKE YOUR NOT AND DONT LIE COS I HAVE YOUR IP ADDRESS I KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE BUT DONT WORRY IM HALFWAY AROUND THE WORLD.
i see. If I decide to build it using decimals such 4.00- 5.99, 6.00 - 7.99 will it make any difference in the final out come? do u think it would complicate it a little more?
Just found your channel, but thankyou for doing this. Many teachers don't accommodate to the different learning styles so being able to take it slow is very helpful. I'd say maybe add more practice Q's and perhaps provide the answers for people like me who like to make sure they're doing it right... Thanks !
I think you should have explained the operative word "to" as opposed to "through". If it was 4 through 6 then it would include 6 but since the notation is 4 TO 6, it doesn't include it.
You need to do another interval that will include those numbers. Your frequency table must have intervals that will include ALL the numbers in the data set.
Hello, thank you very much for this video!! Would it be possible for you to tell me the answers to the questions as I am not sure I'm doing them right.
+kinzatheawesome No problem. Problem 2a was 11 students and 2b was 18 students. The shape of distribution for the last problem should be skewed left. Hope that helps :)
It's kind of hard to show the answer because it's a histogram. However, your x-axis should be labeled "age" and your y-axis should be labeled "frequency".
Great job, keep up the good work and continue to make awesome videos. One advice if possible, try to upload the answers to the questions that you give us to solve by ourselves, if you can't no worries. Thanks for help :)
the video helps my brain function like it should but can you stop using the distracting png's, gif's, jpeg's, ect? thank you. They just make my brain function less.
Hmmm...that's a good question. I would say a histogram is a data display (type of graph) that helps show the frequency (the y axis) of data in different intervals (the x axis).
In my Math book it says in this case the integer 6 would go in the first column, but anything greater than 6 would go in the next for example 6.1 would go in the next. Is that wrong?.
qadz don There's kind of two ways to do a histogram. If you just have integers (no decimals) an interval like 4-6 would include the 6 (the next interval would be 7-9). However, if you have decimal data values you need to make sure your intervals don't have any "gaps". The intervals would be like 4-6 and then 6-8 and in this case the 6 would be included in the 6-8 interval. I hope that isn't too confusing :)
It’s kind of funny that some of you are in COLLEGE, and I am learning this right now in SIXTH GRADE. I was assigned to do it for homework. Anyway, this is very helpful and I can completely understand it! Thanks! c:

i tried doing the one at 7:25 but it has spaces. nvm i was thinking of the intervals as points when there more like labels
One of my favorite math teachers! Please, include the final answers to make sure that I did it right. Thanks!

2:22 but how do you know that does numbers go like that for example 4-6 couldn’t you have of also gone from 4-5 ?

Does it matter what interval you do as long as it is even? Like it can go a little over, or a little under?

Hey,
See how in the tables you wrote down 4-6, but you never included the 6 in that column, shouldn't it be 4-5 then? or if you did want to add 6, 4-
+Nusrat Alam (Jessy) I did it that way because of the decimals. The next interval was 6-8 and that is where I included the 6.
2 years later helped me ace my exam. Its a crime that u only have 15k subs even though its alot u desereve over a mill
Thanks! Your explanation was very easy to understand.

Very informative video!!! Thank you
Dear sir...its helps a lot but in example 1 part (b) while drawing the histogram.....at the x axis.....why you start with a 4 not a 0?? thanks
+Pravesh Bhudoye I didn't start with 0 because 4 was my lowest value. You can decide where to start based on your data.

I had a question that asked find the class width and class limit for a frequency table with 7 classes.
How do u Get interval size
How can I find my frequency between large numbers? Example from 27 to 598.
I would make the intervals pretty large. Maybe do something like 0-99, 100-199, 200-299, etc.
helped tremendously
In the packet I got the interval ends at 100 but I still have numbers such as 111, 117, 119 how do I add them or I don't?
You need to do another interval that will include those numbers. Your frequency table must have intervals that will include ALL the numbers in the data set.
why you have the simpliest explanation? I watched other tutors and it makea my head dizzy because.it so complicated ,
