I actually love that dead tree, I just think it didn't fit the town square. If you built a barren forest with a bunch of those trees it would look sick as hell.
YES!!! You're totally right! I watch Bob Ross too, and he and BDubs are both so therapeutic. And BDubs has the additional benefit of being absolutely hysterical. I mean, that ad, come on. 😂 He's a hero, really.
I'm curious if you are aware of the impact you have on the building community. When others are building it looks like stacking blocks, your creations look like you are painting on a canvas. Everything you do is always on a new level. The way you use gradients to simulate lighting is one of the biggest revolutions in building in a long time. Can't wait to see where this series takes us.
About the allays, they'll strain against their leads a lot less if they're not holding items. When they're holding items they're constantly trying to pathfind towards you whenever they're loaded. If they're not holding items, they'll be a lot more relaxed and less likely to break their leads.

Bdubs you should make the side of the glass shop into a glass blowers shop. You can add function by making it a place to get glass by inputting sand. I know that moss, copper, and all the new wood types are more obviously exciting, but glow lichen might be the most game-changing new building block introduced in recent years. You can use it to blend stone textures, slap it on terracotta for floral wallpaper, emulate window leading - and that's without even getting into the ambient lighting you can achieve with it.
@@metalnut92 For sure! I'm actually building a kind of military base style build, lots of stone and bricks. Lichen is great for adding a layer of slight texturing, and bonus spawn proofing!

You Manipulating glass like this reminds me of a video I saw the other day where someone (bismuthief) was using stained glass to slightly change the colour of a texture, and also making builds entirely out of glass layering to reduce translucency. Really cool to see building community come up with new ways to do stuff. The Pseudo-debug stick is also really cool, and I think it does have it's own advantages over just debug stick due to the antialiasing effect Bdubs talked about so there are cases where you'd want to use it even if you got a mod that lets you use a debug stick in survival. it's not often that my mind is actually blown by a minecraft building technique, but that glass pain/stone wall trick is NUTS!!! im gonna use that technique so much in my builds now! (if that is ok with you!)
It’s really funny to hear you talk about antialiasing when I just recently started getting into pixelart, great job bfubs you really are a pioneer of minecraft building
Great educational episode. I can really say that 'I Didn't Know THIS Was Possible'. Love how the statue and the new building complement each other. Stuff with the walls, really cool. Detailing is the most time consuming part of the build, but I will give this technique a shot. Also, great use of glazed terracotta, love that block and would never thought of using it for windows. I agree that allays feel at home in that witch hut, I'm planning to transform original minecraft witch hut in the near future and this gave me inspiration. Thanks BDubz, as always, stellar job.
one of my favorite things i’ve discovered while playing around with the debug stick is invisible walls. with a debug stick you can remove the middle part of the wall creating an invisible wall that still acts like a block. they player can’t interact with it, water can’t flow through, falling blocks sit on top of it, and, what is probably the coolest part of it, mobs can’t path find through it. if you’re ever building something that you don’t want mobs to get in or out of while still allowing the player to pass through, use invisible walls. the only problem with it is as far as i know is there is no easy way to world edit it. you have to go through and manually remove each part of the wall till its disappeared
Could you use the allays as the ghosts of the Crimson Brothers, floating around as you cross the bridge (using leads or maybe dispensers and note blocks to force them to stay in the area)?
In real world examples you cannot see through stained glass unless you are very close up to it. Since this is vanilla minecraft the best you can do is to hint at what you are trying to accomplish just as in a lot of paintings objects in the distance are just hints of the close up object. You get close to a to a Bob Ross painting or any other landscape painter and you realize that shack is just a smear of paint that is in just the right shape or that tree in the distance is just a line with a couple of neutral color swaths of paint. I get the same feeling when I look at Bdub's builds. It is art. The minor details, shapes and contrast just leads the mind to interpret intent and meaning. Maybe one day Minecraft builders will also be seen as artists just like digital artists and traditional medium artists. Keep it up Bdubs!
This is Revolutionary! I've been building a City that's a mix of Georgian Era, Victorian Era London, and some 1930s America and to learn the style of it and get inspired I watch the TH-cam Channel WBC Builds and the people on his server and him use the debug stick for crazy details and I was always kind of sad because that can't be done in Survival so I'd never be able to make my City as detailed. Then today BDubs has learned how to do it in Survival?!?! This is incredible and thank you so much for sharing this I'm going to go back to my old builds and use the trick
Bdubs talking about the debug stick and wondering how to achieve similar effects had my mind give me the idea for the next Perfect Redstone with BDubs, Update Supressors, they allow you to do all sorts of fun things, such as make weird fences
I‘m sorry for doubting your stained glass technique when you first showed it Bdubs, my jaw fell to the floor when you revealed the whole building… that looks so fantastic
BDubs is a legit artist. He creates beauty. No clickbait, no dumb thumbnails with his (albeit handsome) face taking up a third of the image. Just stuff that inspires him and new stuff and a commercial break that I'm ok with and I hate commercials and ads. Everything he does is new and inspiring and I sincerely appreciate it.
sincerely, no one else does it like you bdubs. i've been following for the longest time and somehow you always manage to push boundaries with existing under-valued and under-appreciated blocks. never stop inventing my GOAT!
This is genius. True windows limit the interior of a space but having false windows in places you dont actually want a view from the inside makes it easier to decorate a room. Thanks for new techniques.
I was thru the video like, okay nice building, bdubs story telling etc. and then 20:05 i hear Prague, Czech Republic and Im like :"Hold Up, let me rewind this video a bit" and then hear it again and I was smiling like a child just because someone mentioned my Country. LOL. little giggles.
I thought Allay were useless until I needed to make mud bricks. I have a pair working with two wheat farmers. One grabs wheat, one grabs seeds. Add some bees flying across the wheat plots and you got such a visual farm, and wheat for days. Next came a Scute farm. I have no need for Scutes, but it's a farm Allay are perfect for. And of course Sniffers. I've got an item loop in my Allay storage. They toss an item in a hopper next to the note block, it travels down a hopper line, and then gets spit out by a dropper. They hustle to grab it, and repeat. Never ending game of fetch.
I loved this episode. I've been watching you for at least 10 years now and this episode reminded me of the episodes around the castle building on the last world. Good classic Bdubs episode!
Hey Bdubs! I have a great inspiration for you: In northern Italian there is a flooded city where only the top of a chirchtower pokes out. It’s in the Reschensee! Go take a look I would look great!
I think the new town center statue is like a tomb for an old army leader who was from the town. It’d be super cool if you ran with this idea you could as a copper plague or sign with a description. Much love Bdubs!
i've also been very interested in the gothic style lately and how i would describe the style is: arches. arches pushed to their limits. everything is an arch, and it's beautiful.
OMG the stained windows!! I've tried all sorts of things with glass panes trying to make convincing stained glass windows, I *never* would have considered glazed terracotta. It looks freakin' amazing!! Three cheers Bdubs!! Thank you for sharing these awesome techniques. My MC village is gonna look 90% more awesome now.
I just love to watch these builds, to see these simple blocks do things I have never imagined. It feels a bit like I'm trying to watch Seurat work, can't fathom how it will come together, but then when you see it, it's just magix.
I'm so happy that my son @Gatsby turned me on to your videos. They bring me a ton of joy and make me happy when I watch them. I find myself going around the house talking like Bdubs and it makes me smile. Thank you!!
Love it bossman. You've gotta play all the way on moody though, it's practically pre-installed shaders with the right light placement and with the 1.18 mob spawning rules it can get real spooky without letting anything spawn.
For your lore, i think the statue should be symbolic of the village's artisanal scene. It merges glass, stones, copper, and ironwork. Maybe every guild came together to make something for the community and to visually tell visitors that they got all the skillz
yet another incredible build, love how this turned out. I might rewatch this series soon since I want to build my own town up from scratch. it's a big struggle to start and do even simple builds without the years of experience but your work continuously inspires me!! 💖
I hope Bdubs realizes how loved he is by the minecraft community. He truly is a gem. I love this series so much. Thanks bdubs for making us smile and showing us the genius of your creativity!
I wouldnt worry about seeing through the stained glass. Irl the stained glass ive seen has never been actually see through, but they have had a glow to them. Its more of a glowing artpiece (which the glow lichen actually helps emulate!) because the glass catches the light
I'd be cool if Mojang added some type of glue or resin to the game that would save a placed block in its current blockstate. Maybe that would take away some of that necessary restriction that makes Minecraft such a creative game, like some argue vertical slabs would. But I like the idea! Either way Bdubs makes it work! Definitely stealing these techniques! Also Bdubs, it's been so long since we've seen your house form episode 1! You should visit it sometime, clear out the cobwebs!
A perfect use for FREE GLASS! Another technique I will have to try incorporating in my own world. As always, an inspiration when it comes to minecraft art.
What a beautiful build! ….and using those blocks for stain glass windows beautiful! i love that you championed some really different building techniques. Using the mechanic properties of the blocks for building, is genius. Im so glad you did not just make the tree into a blossom tree. Sometimes when our plans don’t work an opportunity for something far more interesting can be realised.
Bdubs, you might not know it, but you have created an example of Da Vinci’s technique of sfumato. He believed there was no such thing as a hard lines and it was just a blur between colors. Brilliant!
You can use glazed terracotta behind stairs or slabs to combine textures into completely new blocks. E.g. 4 stairs with 2 x 2 differently colored glazed terracotta give you a completely new "block".
Bdubs is one of the few minecrafters I still watch, simply because what he does goes beyond the bounds of just building in Minecraft, to the point where it can only be described as art, every area is a panting
I've always loved the fractally ornateness that gothic buildings have. Recently found out about gothic revival. If you haven't seen it you definitely should! I've already tried to build a few homes and they've turned out great
Love that center pillar but you know what would look better there?….an old petrified grey tree…you should swap it out for one of those

one of my favorite things i’ve discovered while playing around with the debug stick is invisible walls. with a debug stick you can remove the middle part of the wall creating an invisible wall that still acts like a block. they player can’t interact with it, water can’t flow through, falling blocks sit on top of it, and, what is probably the coolest part of it, mobs can’t path find through it. if you’re ever building something that you don’t want mobs to get in or out of while still allowing the player to pass through, use invisible walls. the only problem with it is as far as i know is there is no easy way to world edit it. you have to go through and manually remove each part of the wall till its disappeared
Could you use the allays as the ghosts of the Crimson Brothers, floating around as you cross the bridge (using leads or maybe dispensers and note blocks to force them to stay in the area)?
As an Architect, Bdubs talking about different elements of architecture just makes me happy.
POV: you build a whole update supressor and then use it to make some tiny wall details that most people wouldn't notice
I‘m sorry for doubting your stained glass technique when you first showed it Bdubs, my jaw fell to the floor when you revealed the whole building… that looks so fantastic
Bdubs commercials keep getting better and better, hes actually come the closest out of any youtuber to convincing me to buy a freaking vpn.
This was brilliant! So many new techniques to take away from this
sincerely, no one else does it like you bdubs. i've been following for the longest time and somehow you always manage to push boundaries with existing under-valued and under-appreciated blocks.
never stop inventing my GOAT!
4:28 dude that cathedral or whatever, of granite and brick it looks like, with the copper rooves and spires is so cool looking….
Good classic Bdubs episode!
the stained glass window idea actually looks so cool
Hey Bdubs!
I have a great inspiration for you:
In northern Italian there is a flooded city where only the top of a chirchtower pokes out.
Thank you!!
I absolutely adore the music that Bdubs uses in his build montages
Ikr! I feel like that flies under most people's radars but adds soo much
Love it bossman.
As someone in the architectural field, I really like that you are learning your viewers about architecture and what it is about!
Thanks Bdubs
yet another incredible build, love how this turned out.
Bdubs nailed it, for the age of MineCraft, no sequel needed, its perfect and continues to get better and better. Thanks Bdubs for the stellar content.
Brilliant!
I love the way Bdubs plays and talks about the game and its features. There's just so MUCH passion there! I don't see it anywhere else!
You can use glazed terracotta behind stairs or slabs to combine textures into completely new blocks. E.g. 4 stairs with 2 x 2 differently colored glazed terracotta give you a completely new "block".
Bdubs is the only TH-camr who makes me look forward to sponsors and ad breaks.
Bdubs is one of the few minecrafters I still watch, simply because what he does goes beyond the bounds of just building in Minecraft, to the point where it can only be described as art, every area is a panting
I'm starting to appreciate mojang's "limitations encourage creativity" philosophy.
I've always loved the fractally ornateness that gothic buildings have. Recently found out about gothic revival. If you haven't seen it you definitely should! I've already tried to build a few homes and they've turned out great
